Nick S.Highly recommended. George came out for an emergency plumbing job on a Sunday night. He got the job done, was polite, wore a mask and shoe coverings, and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. Can't go wrong with this service.
Dan B.I called on a Friday afternoon, knowing there was an obstruction in my main sewer line. Jordan came out within a couple of hours. I explained that my contractor had a plumber snake and use a camera in the line earlier and had found an obstruction approximately 60 feet from the front door clean out. I liked that Jordan wanted to use his camera to identify the problem. He quickly identified a major root blockage in that location. He quoted me a price of $6,200 for installation of approximately 70 feet of trenchless pipe from my front door to the clean out in my front lawn. I asked if he recommended going trenchless all the way to my wall in front (another 15 feet or so), and he replied no, as there was only lawn/dirt covering the area, and that could always be done at a later date, if needed. I questioned that logic since we are already digging the hole and going trenchless, but I knew it would be cheaper, too. I had another plumber coming later, and told him I would contact him. We texted over the weekend and set up an appointment for Monday morning.
Around 9 a.m., Jordan showed up and I asked him if he would use the camera to check from the clean out to the street (approximately 30 feet), as I have had to snake the line twice annually in the past, and I would hit a blockage about 90 feet from my front door, and I was concerned because I had the lawn clean out installed 20 years earlier as we found roots had entered and broken the clay pipe at the joint. At some point, Jordan informed me that he had scoped to the street and found major root blockages and broken pipe. He quoted me another $5,400 to install the trenchless to my wall (90 feet), then put in a liner from there to the street main. Also, they would need to obtain a Maxi Miller, ""Maximus"", which they had to go get from Laguna Beach. Jordan's brother, George, came and used Maximus for an hour or two until almost 7:45/8:00 that evening and decided that Maximus was too rough on the pipe and could harm it more (the pipe needs to be relatively smooth in order to accept the liner).
The next day, between 11 and 12, I believe, they started using the Dancutter, a robotic snake that does precision pipe trimming/cutting. Jordan told me that he would split the cost of the use of his brother's machine. Right away, that told me we were talking more money. I texted another plumber, inquiring about the cost for two hours use of a Dancutter, and he quoted it should be $500-$1,000. They were at it from that time until probably 5 p.m.,using the Dancutter and a camera to shave off the pipe, getting it smooth. I compared it to doing delicate surgery. Finally, they shot in the liner. The whole idea was that, if we could not install a liner, we were going to have to sawcut the sidewalk, parkway, and street to the middle of the street, which I know is big bucks. Jordan said about $13,000.
When it came time to settle up, my half for the use of the Maxi Miller and Dancutter was $2,600. That means a day's use would come out to $5,200, which seems awful steep to me. Before we began, I knew little to nothing about replacing a sewer main line, other than it is labor intensive. My friend had offered to do it for free, but he had too much work. As he says, it's just digging and laying pipe, which I already knew from watching my previous clean out installed.
I am overall satisfied with The Drain Defenders. Father George, and his sons, Jordan and George, possess the latest technology from what I see, and are quite knowledgeable and skilled at what they do, and good people. At one time, I counted nine plumbers from the company at my house, so I know that it is a major undertaking. My only ding is that I would like to know upfront what my maximum outlay could be from the beginning, and I would have liked to know about the roots/broken pipe from the clean out to the street, BEFORE, the work was in progress, especially when I inquired at the very beginning. Also, I now understand that until the roots can be cleared from the pipes, you cannot see what you're dealing with, but I would like to be informed of that fact beforehand, because that is still telling you something. Also, I would have liked to have known beforehand of the possibility that robotic snakes might have to be used and exactly how expensive the use of these machines can be, rather than being told we can split the cost, which, to me, tells me that it's going to be expensive. Once the work has begun, you're in between a rock and a hard place and there are not many alternatives. Hence, I take away one star, but I am satisfied that quality work was completed. Myself, I like detail and prices in Yelp reviews,, and I hope this helps someone. Snapshot, $14,200 for 90 feet of trenchless line with one connection and two clean outs, and 30 feet of liner to the street main, over three days with a six year labor guarantee.
I cannot say enough about the Drain Defenders. I had used them a few years ago for a small problem and was very happy with them. When my toilets, shower and tub backed up I immediately called them. They were all out on calls but George called me back in ten minutes and was at my home in another fifteen. He immediately knew what was wrong and after putting a camera into my pipe showed me that my sewer line was severely corroded.
Jordan and his crew came early the next morning and they were wonderful. They were professional and explained every step they took. Rain was expected and they put up a tent. When done, they patched the huge hole they dug by replacing the top grass. You couldn't even tell there had been a hole. They worked so hard, from 8 am to 7 pm and were the nicest guys. They chatted as they worked and I could hear them laughing. So nice to have such good workers with positive energy in times like these who really care about a job well done.
Was it expensive yes were they good no they were great extremely patient with me and told me.the process and one thing i noticed is that they were very carefully with everything related with covid I highly appreciated I was thinking about the price cause it is price but there service made the difference
I love this guy. On time, smart, active, accurate and fair. And, of course, every thing worked when he was done.
I called during New Years Day and took the chance that someone would be willing to come out today considering the holidays. George was very polite and professional from the first phone call and each follow up call afterwards.
During the actual repairs, he was very much professional throughout the whole process of explaining to both my brother and I what the actual problem was and the best solution required. He took care of the problem despite the sun setting and him needing to work during night hours.
I will definitely recommend him to anyone out there who needs a thorough job done by someone competent and experienced. Above all, professional and timely. Thank you George! We will def recommend you!
Victor F.George was a great guy!! Help out a lot. I recommend him! He get the job done! He unclog my drain super fast!!
Manuel H.I needed a camera service to locate my main sewer. George came out and pinpointed my sewer and future cleanout location. He was super courteous and friendly and just had a great attitude from beginning to end. He was quick but took his time to be accurate and precise. He obviously loves what he does! I even caught a glimpse inside his van and it was super organized. I'll definitely be calling him back to install the clean outs and any other future sewer needs. Highly recommended!!!
I recently had an emergency situation where a pipe was leaking water all over our kitchen anytime we ran the sink. Turns out a drain pipe from within the wall was far too old, corroded, and ended up breaking. I had to get this fixed ASAP. Jordan from The Drain Defender came out the same day despite having a packed schedule, and not only diagnosed our issue, but came back after hours just to make sure it was fixed. I can't thank them enough. Jordan and his father run an amazing business, and it's very evident that they care about their customers and the services they provide. 10/10 would recommend!
Marissa T.Had 2 Toilets not working and a bathtub. Answered right away and were over in an hour. George was super friendly and pleasant, didn't mind the barking dogs. George was able to fix the everything in under 3 hours. Extremely responsible pricing and tried to clean up everything before leaving. Highly recommend, I'd give more then 5 stars if I could.
