After and issue on a Saturday AM with my heater I called and a tech came out to check the unit out. After being charged $65 to be told that my heater issue was that the filter was dirty and nothing was done, two hours later the unit stopped working again. When I called on Monday to get anther tech to come out. This guy came out looked at the unit briefly and said I needed a new control board. $400 plus. But because of the age of the unit I should just replace the whole system....$6000 plus. After the discussion I called another company to come out. After 5 minutes of actually checking devices, voltages and etc. the second company determined I had a dirty sensor. He cleaned the sensor reinstalled and unit has worked perfectly since. Total cost of second company $69 compared to the $400 to $6000 Texas Air wanted.

Long story short.....get a second opinion before you agree to any costly repairs or replacement determined by this group.

All I can say is WOW! I have used Texas A/C Specialists for several years and they always provide fast, courteous and reliable service, but this time they set a new standard for excellence.

My HVAC fan stopped at 11pm on a Thursday night. Knowing that a long, cold weekend was coming I got online to email Texas A/C Specialists for an appointment. At 8am sharp the next morning I received a call from their service manager who scheduled me for a 12pm service call. At 11:45am I received a call from technician Domingo Rios saying he was en route to my house and he arrived exactly at noon. Did I say reliable?

After explaining my problem to Domingo, he examined the obvious causes (thermostat, power, etc) before heading up into the attic. I tagged along to watch him work and he was very patient and thorough in explaining every diagnostic test that he ran. Domingo was also very thorough in his analysis, checking the fan, PC board, furnace area and wiring before pinpointing the problem as a combination of loose wiring connection in the thermostat and a faulty emergency shutoff valve in the A/C overflow pan.

Some less scrupulous HVAC technicians might have taken the easy route and replaced the PC board ($500) or performed other expensive but unnecessary repairs. Domingo obviously takes great pride in his work and his diagnostic capabilities are superb - the result is that my heater is working perfectly and it cost me next to nothing. Did I mention that they provide FREE diagnostic service calls?

Texas A/C Specialists are all you could hope for in a service company, and they repeatedly exceed my expectations in terms of reliability, affordability and courtesy. I will HIGHLY recommend them to anyone needing heating or A/C service!

Thank goodness for these guys! We had our new unit installed 14 months ago. (Yes I have them a good review then too) for some reason our outside unit stopped working. I called at 10:15pm - not only was my call answered, but we had a technician here less than 30 min later. Chino took one look at it and knew what to do. He replaced the capacitor and had us up and running in less than 10 minutes!!! Thank you Texas A/C Specialists! My two kids won't sweat tonight.

My a/c went out this past summer and like always, it stopped working about 5pm on a Friday evening. I called everyone I could to come out and service it and no one was available that evening. Until I called Texas a/c specialist. They were able to send someone out that night who got it up and running that night. We were able to sleep comfortably that night which is huge in a Texas summer. The service man also told us about a special they were having and gave us 10% off our bill. I appreciated his honesty and giving us a deal. I would recommend them and use them again.

I'm kind of bummed I can't give these guys four or five stars because the work by the techs was great, but the experience with the office staff was lackluster. You'll get great work at a fair price, but be prepared to deal with an office that doesn't match the techs in job quality.

The initial estimate visits, installation, and financing went effortlessly. The FREE service call is completely real and I can't say enough about the quality of work done by their techs. The thermostat was forgotten on our weekend install, but our tech Eddie showed up the next week and made good on the delay by providing an upgraded model. Very appreciated!

At this point I thought everything worked out better than I could have hoped, but that feeling didn't last long.

About a week after installation I got a call from a woman at the office to schedule an inspection from the city. We set a date, but the next day or so got another call from her canceling it because she said the city had not responded yet to her fax. She said she'd call me back once pending status lifted. Several weeks passed with no word so I called to inquire, she said she'd look into it. Back and forth it went like this several times until nearly two months passed. Frustrated I asked if there was ANYTHING I could do to help the situation. She sounded a little confused that I was not willing just to keep waiting and that I wanted her to give me the contact number to the city department so that I could see if I could get an answer from them. I got the number from her and by the end of the day I had connected with the Inspection Supervisor for the city AND resolved what was holding up the inspection. Total of two calls with the city (while I was busy doing my own job) and the problem was fixed. Why the person whose job is to do just this sort of thing seemed so perplexed by the process and even after admitting that a two month wait for an inspection is highly unusual didn't take the extra effort to help me out, but was so readily willing to let me do all the leg work is incomprehensible to me. My clients, colleagues, and supervisors would never stand for such a lack of resourcefulness and initiative. Suddenly the next day I get an unusually cheery call from the Tx AC woman that everything looks like it went through on my paperwork with the city and now I could schedule a day for inspection. Thank you!

But wait there's more! One of the big selling points was the fact that there was a big fat credit from Austin Energy for the unit we had installed. After getting the inspection I called Tx AC about the rebate and was told that the rebate application was probably sent off and they'd let me know. No call back, so I called. Yes, rebate request was sent to Austin Energy in July (it's now September), and that I should have gotten it back by now. Their solution: wait some more and call back. My solution: call Austin Energy directly. Guess what, they received the documents they needed not in July as I was told, but at the end of September (just after I inquired about it with TX AC).

I will be torn the next time I need AC work because although I'll get honest and well done work, I'll also have to deal with a front office who has the ability to sour all that.

So Texas AC Specialists, I'd say your awesome techs, installers, and pricing is being undercut by some members of your office staff. There are some poor phone & customer service skills from your front-line folks, giving the impression that the customer is annoying and/or that they can't be bothered. Believe it or not a smile (or lack there of) can be head loud and clear over the phone.

Talk about great service and a business that is willing to take care of the troops. I am currently deployed and my home AC went out. The guys at Texas AC Specialist had Pete out within two hours and had it squared away the same day. SUPPORTING THE TROOPS, you cant expect better service from a company!!!
Thank you for your top notch service and support.

Paid for annual maintenance - 2 visits on AC.

First visit seemed good, explained what they were doing. No issues.

2nd visit, tech was late. Prior job. Understandable.
Issues however were

1. Forgets to blow line. Had to ask if he was going do it
2. Tells me I'm low on coolant. Ask for estimate, says he doesn't have coolant and will have to check. I send email to office, no response... Wow.
3. 3 months later on the dot, I have leaking ceiling. Check and pans are full due to blockage and I check only to find insulation blocking.
4. Call service manager and am told, not our responsibility. Drains are 100% customer and our work doesn't guarantee anything to stop drains from plugging.

Will use another company that calls/arrives when scheduled and has clear documentation on what they cover/don't.

Another interested/scary thing on this company is that they post 'selected' reviews on their site. Opposite of what reviews are supposed to be for... All or none...

Quick 1 day service for a dead A/C unit They even had to cut a larger hole in the attic access to wrestle the new unit in, but replaced everything so that no damage shows. Very professional

I contacted Texas AC specialists based on my neighbor's recommendation. I used their texting service which was easy and they replied right away with a time they could come out to look at my AC. The outside unit was shot and had to be replaced along with the coils and some other parts up in the attic unit. Their price was fair based on what I heard neighbors were paying and they had a crew out within a few hours to replace the unit and do the work right away. We were pleased with the work and the guy who explained everything was very knowledgeable and professional. The only problem we had and the only reason I did not give them 5 stars was during their installation they missed something that caused me to have to call them back later that same night....the AC drain line on the other working unit was still clogged and they were suppose to clear that line and apparently they forgot and there was still water leaking from the overflow pan to the drain outside. They sent someone out that night to clear the line...however he attached an air compressor to the drain line and blew out the line and apparently the line was somehow tapped into our bathroom plumbing. After he left...I went into the bathroom and saw that there was black gung and crud splattered all over the walls and ceiling of the bathroom and that it was shot up out of the sink drain. Before cleaning out the line...they should have gone to all the bathrooms and plugged up the sink drains to prevent crud from getting blown out of the plumbing and all over the bathroom...it was kind of gross to clean up....but I guess that's minor compared to getting a good price and good service. One last point...they did replace our unit with a Carrier AC unit and said it was better then the lennox that we had to cool the first floor and much quieter and they were right...when the two units are running side by side...the Carrier unit they installed is probably 50% less noisy and its even bigger so what they said was true and not just a sales job. I would use them again and have recommended them to others.
