We have worked with this company for 30 years and have always had good experiences. Recently, though, his receptionist has been incredibly rude and defensive. She refuses to let us talk to Ted to resolve a small problem. Today she literally hung up on me! What is going on, Ted?

We have been using Ted's for many years at our old Victorian in the West End of Hartford, and have always been happy with their services and pricing. A couple of years ago, we moved to a condo still in the neighborhood, that had been built in the '80s. We were on vacation in the Bahamas a few months ago (last winter, but I'm just getting around to writing the review), and got a text from our cleaning lady that she went down to our finished basement and there was water everywhere! We quickly called a neighbor who went into the house and confirmed that the flood was coming from our water heater. He turned off the water and we called Ted's who got someone out within the hour to inspect it and had someone else standing by with a new water heater to deliver if need be. The new heater was delivered, installed and the mess cleaned up within 3 hours of the problem first being found. While we were in the middle of the Caribbean! We got home late on Saturday night and were not surprised with a cold shower and big problem to deal with! Thanks to Ted's and our fast thinking housecleaner and good neighbors.

I have used Ted's Plumbing for several services in the past and was very satisfied with their service. Therefore when I had a plumbing emergency on New Year's Eve day they were the first I called. Jim was sent to my home to assess the situation and he suggested that the first step would be to have my septic pumped, which I did. On completion Jim returned and spent considerable time determining the next step. He was able to resolve the backup problem in my system. Ted himself even come to my home to assist in resolving the problem...and on New Year's Eve in the rain! I was ever so grateful for the prompt and excellent service.

I had a leak in my garage and called Miller Plumbing. Apparently Ted's bought them out. They told me upfront that there would be a $135/hr labor charge with a one hour minimum and I agreed. The plumber arrived on time and was very courteous. He discovered within one minute that a bleeder valve was open, closed it, leak fixed. he said he didn't feel right charging $135 for turning a valve. He called and asked his manager to just charge me for the trip ($60). She refused. In my opinion, this is a horrible way to run a business. This was my first encounter with this company, and now I will never use them again. I am a homeowner and have plumbing issues a few times a year. If they had done the right thing, I'd use them for years to come. I understand I agreed to the minimum charge, but even their own guy agreed it was senseless. Lots of plumbers in this town!

We had Ted's out to repair a gas leak discovered during a home energy audit. Ted's was able to come out and repair the leak within a few hours. Ted's left without giving my wife an invoice and was told one would be in the mail. We received the invoice a couple days later and was far above the $500.00 dollars I was expecting for 2.5 hrs work. I appreciate that they were able to come out and make the repair so quickly but I really feel we were taken advantage of. Once again Ted's did great work and thier timely response was appreciated but I think the bill was opportunistic.

I used Ted's Plumbing a few years back and they were awesome. It was winter and the weather was pretty cold outside and I had an outside faucet that was leaking and I was afraid that the pipes would freeze. They came within 1 hour of my call and took care of the faucet and installed a new one that was freeze proof. It has been perfect ever since. Now I know who to call when I need a plumber in the future.

I bought Ted vodka for Christmas because he took such pains to accommodate us.

We were buying a house and were totally stood up by Aiello. We needed a targeted Plumbing inspection as a follow up for a visual inspection (it turned up some major issues) in order to meet the purchasing timeline. It was not a traditional emergency but it was a big deal in our world because it was a question of whether to go forward or back out of the home purchase.

Ted made it with less than 24 hour notice during the aftermath of a big snow storm when other plumbers were basically laughing at us, quoting us a week and hanging up with phone (I legit called like 10 places). Ted got us a quick estimate on what it might cost to make repairs and gave us the info we needed to go forward.

We're now living in the house and hiring him to carry our those major repairs. Thanks Ted!

Hot water tank failed one year after installation. It took four days to get a call back and then was told we should have installed two tanks (It is just my husband and I). We were very surprised by this as our prior tank had been more than sufficient for us. Ted refused to look at the tank to replace it and said ""whatever"" when I expressed concerns. Very disappointed in the tank that was installed and the subsequent customer service, particularly that the owner was so unprofessional and did not even know what he or his staff had recommended or installed.

Also, I might add, rather than consider that the tank might actually have failed, Ted repeatedly said I should try talking to my husband.

AVOID!

Ted's stretched a 15 hour job into nearly 23 hours because we weren't home to supervise their work. I strongly recommend you avoid this company.

I would highly recommend Ted's Plumbing for any plumbing repairs. Ted went above and beyond to help me and my clients make a plumbing repair so we could close on the sale of their home. In the middle of a snow storm, Ted came out to the home to evaluate what was needed and made the repair right then and there. Ted was professional and very knowledgeable about the plumbing related building code, and knew exactly what needed to be done to obtain town approval.

After making the repair, Ted took photos of the repair, and with the snow falling even harder and about 6"" of snow on the ground, Ted drove with me to town hall. I immediately knew my husband had found the right plumber when one of the town building inspectors saw me with Ted and said that I had hired one of the five best plumbers they knew. Ted presented the repairs to the town plumbing inspector succinctly, but thoroughly, and helped me to get the required town approvals so we could schedule the closing for my clients.

Ted has a client (Realtor) for life. I will refer him, without reservation, to my friends, clients, other realtors, and attorneys who need a plumber. I cannot thank Ted enough for all he did for me today, in just in 2-hrs, during the worst part of the storm. Thank you Ted!
