Recommended Customer Reviews
Taylor & Murphy has been a really great choice for us. We have two oil burners, both placed in not very accessible sections of our basement, and their service people have always done a great job tuning them up and getting them ready for winter. If we ever have a question about our bill they respond immediately and are reasonable. If we have a problem they come out right away, day or night, even on holidays, which unfortunately for us has happened more than once. I highly recommend T & M!
My elderly mother has been a customer of Taylor & Murphy for many years. She had a pipe freeze and burst in her heating system a while back. T&M went to extraordinary ends to fix it immediately and even found a plumber to assist on a weekend. At another time they called me to say she had only used a nominal amount of oil which raised red flags. They met me at the house, diagnosed the issue. secured the replacement part (at extra effort) and installed it the same day. Their technicians have been knowledgeable and helpful in both instances. In the interest of full disclosure T&M is offering a $25 credit for a favorable review. My experiences with them have been favorable, credit or no credit.
We've used Taylor & Murphy for over 5 years. I like that they offer a billing program that runs 10 months a year, so we can space out our payments and not be hit with larger bills during the colder months. They've always been quick to send a technician the few times we've had to call about a problem with our heating.
We have been happy and loyal Taylor & Murphy customers since we moved to our home in Acton in 1994. Everything they have done for us has been excellent - from regular delivery of fuel oil, to rapid response for any heating system repairs, to friendly and knowledgeable office personnel and service engineers. We have an old and somewhat unique Italian boiler and they have the expertise, tools, and parts to keep it running so that we've haven't had to replace it. We only have positive things to say about the entire Taylor & Murphy organization! Don't hesitate to check them out. You'll be happy that you did...
We've been Taylor and Murphy customers for the last two years. They're an honest and dependable outfit, and we've been pleased with their service.
Laetitia G.We used Taylor and Murphy as recommended by our landlords... Well... We can tell they aren't the ones paying for oil. At $4.09 /gallon, T&M is about $0.40 more expensive than the competition in the area. That comes to about $100 on our oil bill. On top of this, they came refill our tank without asking or being asked to, after we explicitly said we would call if we needed a refill. When confronted about it, they offered no solution or compromise. They promised me someone would call us to discuss the issue. 2 weeks later, we haven't heard from them other than receiving a huge bill in the mail.
Don't use this company. They are crooks. We will be switching to a new, cheaper oil provider.
My first experience with Taylor and Murphy was when they installed a new oil burner for me. They were competitive with the price and polite. I have been using them ever since for oil. They are always helpful. Whenever I have a question, I can email them and they get right back to me. I also use them for my oil burner cleanings and I have been nothing but pleased with their services.
I have been a customer of Taylor and Murphy for over 10 years and have been extremely pleased with their responsive service. In addition to making general service calls, they recently installed a new boiler and hot water system. The pros and cons were patiently explained to me so I could come to an informed decision.
One service call clearly stands out in my mind before I installed a new boiler/hot water system. My boiler was shutting off intermittently. I am well aware that an intermittent problem is very difficult to find. On the technician's first 2 visits he replaced the most likely components that might be the culprit. Unfortunately this did not solve the problem. On his 3rd visit he sat in the boiler room for an extended period until the intermittent failure occured. He then identified the intermittent part and replaced it thereby provinding me with warmth during the winter.
Taylor & Murphy have been my oil service provider for a several years, and I have always liked their service. They were also the contractors I chose for a recent air-conditioning job and an oil to gas conversion work at my house. They have a great crew who are also very customer oriented. Mark Taylor gave me a great price and worked with me through the project. These guys are good !
This is my first yelp review; after my experience with Taylor and Murphy, and seeing they only had one negative review, I felt I needed to speak up. We hired T&M to install a new central AC system in our newly purchased Arlington condo. After suffering through the late July and Aug heat on the second floor with only window units, we wanted this done, and fast. I got bids from 4 different AC installers. In addition to different prices, there were different approaches on how to handle our situation (install forced air heat or not, upsize for potential 3rd floor conversion...). In the end, not only was T&M's price the best, but they also proposed the most logical and efficient solution. They certainly could have tried to upsell us as others did. Instead, they took their time with us and gave us an honest assessment.
We dealt with Wayne, who was very professional and courteous. I had no issues trusting him with the keys to our place and having his crew work while we were at work.
They were able to start the job very soon after we accepted their proposal. The crew was also very courteous and professional. There was one issue during the install, basically some molding on the ceiling was damaged. It was not a huge problem, but it did not look right, and we were disappointed with it when we got home. Wayne called me, told me he was not satisfied either, and he would dispatch a carpenter to custom make a molding piece to fix the problem. I was very happy that I did not have to fight them for this, instead, they proactively addressed the situation and it turned out looking pretty good. In addition, Wayne filled out our paperwork for the energy rebate of our high efficiency unit.
The work was completed in 6 days, one day behind schedule (due to electrician/plumber delays). That's not bad at all.
I deal with managing large construction projects professionally, and it's been an eye opener when dealing with my own small residential projects. Most contractors don't call back, don't arrive on time, are not professional, and in general are not a pleasure to work with. Taylor and Murphy are the exception. I'll be calling them to service our existing heat system.
