Such a rad company! I called 4 HVAC companies and Tarpy was not only the cheapest, but They are also the friendliest. Jessica gave me a solid quote and was able to get a tech to my house 2 days later. When Chris came to our house. he was polite and hilarious. But he knows his stuff. He installed 2 Nest thermostats, check both systems, changed our filters all with a smile on his face. We now have our HVAC company forever!

I couldn't wait to write this review for Tarpy Plumbing Heating and Air but I wanted to take some time to get it right because they deserve it.

The fantastic crew of Paul, Carlos, Chris, Englebert, Ryan, Nick and Jessica not only exceeded my expectations but did it in the most professional and friendly way. The system is strong and quiet, the house is always comfortable, the water is instantly hot, and the work was neatly and professionally done on time with no surprises. Read on if you want the whole story but, the bottom line is that I'd recommend this company to anyone anytime for any plumbing, heating or A/C job.

This morning I woke up to a comfortable, warm house. We haven't had heat for weeks. In costal Solana Beach that may not sound like a big deal but it's been between 54 and 58 in the house every morning for 4 weeks. Our heating and cooling system went out months ago and we knew we needed to replace it. Our old system would constantly run to keep the house at a decent temperature. Heating was barely adequate and during the hot months, forget it. It wasn't worth the money to have the AC running 24/7 at $150 a day. We have our own company and work from home so a comfortable office is critical. We haven't had that since we started the business and built out our home office.

We had 4 teams come by to give us estimates. One said don't change a thing except replace the furnace. One came in and said change everything to basically the same system we had. One guy came in and said he couldn't do anything unless we believed, like he did, that the world was flat. No kidding! Bids were from $5K to $25K and not a single one made any measurements, presented any options (""this is what you get...period"") so we were not any closer to a decision.

Then Paul Tarpy came to visit. He sat down with us and asked us what we wanted. He measured our square footage, documenting each room in the house. He measured the doors and windows. He counted the vents, and inspected our equipment. Then we sat down and discussed his proposal and what we could expect. He noted that our unit wasn't quite big enough for our square footage so a direct replacement wouldn't work as well. We recently added a 150 square foot home office that we use daily. All of our windows are south and west facing. We have a vaulted ceiling in the living room with no insulation. And, to our surprise, our cold air returns didn't have a direct duct back to the system thus explaining in inability to cool the house efficiently. He did what no one else did. He consulted with us, gave us options, and made some adjustments to work with our preferences and our budget.

Note to the other bidders....This is the way it's done! We weren't looking for cheap, we were looking for doing it RIGHT!!

The next chapter was amazing. Basically they delivered and exceeded our expectations. They replaced our hot water heater with a tankless system to make room for the return air duct that was never installed. They put in the registers we wanted. They put in an upright, slim profile condenser for the AC so we could finally walk along the side of our house. They seem to truly care about our experience from the very beginning.

They were like a hive of bees for four days working hard to completely rebuild the system. When they left each day, they only way you could tell they had been there was the slowly shrinking inventory of materials and parts in the garage. No dust or debris, no broken items, they just quietly came and worked, then cleaned, then updated us on status and left to return the next day. Our only glitch was a small leak from the water heater that I discovered after they left. I'm talking a very small leak. it was no big deal but they were there first thing in the morning to fix it.

The last day was a marathon for these guys. The day before Thanksgiving and they worked until it was done. When I asked if they just wanted to come back on Monday they said, and I quote, ""No, we just can't let a customer go through the holiday weekend without heat."" They charged it up, brought the whole system online, took us through the setup and maintenance, and like the heroes they are they quietly left into the dark of night.

I'm a huge fan now. They made this grumpy guy very happy in my now warm and cozy little house. I haven't been in my office without a jacket for weeks. Now, like Tarpy Plumbing Heating and Air, the experience is perfect.

Thanks for everything, Paul, Carlos, Chris, Englebert, Ryan, Nick and Jessica! You didn't just raise the bar, you've set it and it's set very high indeed!

I had Tarpy Heating and Air do a complete new system in my house (5 ton gas heater and A/C along with all new ducting and registers). They were super competitive with the other bids I got. They sent reminder emails everyday of the work to let me know who was coming out. They cleaned up after themselves every day too. The system kicks butt. My electric bill went down with the new higher efficiency A/C and it seems like the gas heater is more efficient too. The whole system blows harder and is much quieter when running. I love the work these guys did. Would highly recommend them.

Paul was super responsive to my request for a quote and Joey and Kevin did a great job installing a dehumidifier in my basement (which solved a mold problem). I don't think many of these get installed in San Diego, but they sent a specialist out (who was there at 5PM on a Friday) to get everything working well. I'll use them for future work!

I'm not the one to just hand out 5 star reviews but the customer service for this place is outstanding. When I called Jessica was the one to help me out and she was extremely helpful and friendly. Jessica answered all of my annoying questions and didn't get annoyed one bit she actaully had me laughing by the end of our phone call. You don't find many places with outstanding customer service like Jessica where you can feel her smile through the phone. I will defiantly be recommending Tarpys Heating & Air to others.

We had Paul and his crew come out to add a tankless water heater and insulation. First of all he responded like lightning fire. He had great customer service. His proposal was fair and he matched a competitor no questions. His crew came out and got the job done. The two insulation guys were very nice and cleaned up after themselves. The job was done quick! Thank you Paul and crew! You guys are awesome! Do not go anywhere else folks this guy breathes service!


My insulation is working amazingly. Normally on a 98 temp day my house would be over 100! I'm sitting in a cool 74 degree home. Thank you so much Paul and team. Again! Best service!

Tarpy installed a new heating and air conditioning system at my residence about two years ago. This year, I had purchased the maintenance package, and I have been very happy with the service. Chris Northup, who inspected my air conditioning system in early summer, came out today to inspect the heating system. I like the fact that the same tech did both inspections, and Chris was great. He called me to verify that he was on the way, and he was on-time, as promised. He is knowledgeable and up-beat, and he makes a good impression on behalf of his employer. I also like the fact that Tarpy always sends a confirming email once an appointment is set up. I will definitely continue to use them for my maintenance program.

We are beyond thrilled with our Tarpy experience. In much need of an upgraded Heating/AC unit, we called Tarpy to get an estimate. Tarpy came out on a Friday, we accepted the estimate, and by Tuesday of the next week, they were hard at work installing our new unit. Plus we added a whole house fan to have another cost saving option to cool down the house. The Tarpy employees were friendly and professional. Patient and willing to answer any questions we had for them. They went above and beyond to make sure our install went smoothly. The cost was competitive and worth every penny! We had our old furnace relocated from a closet to the attic and had our ac unit replaced at the same time. There were several follow up appointments required to get the units calibrated properly, which was frustrating but the Tarpy team were committed to providing white glove service. They sent several service technicians to balance and calibrate our system, but one tech that stood out was Trent. He had excellent communication and was able to calibrate the ac and get the cool air flowing. We've now had cool air for more than a year without issue.
