I started getting quotes for a new HVAC and Tarpy was the last quote to get. Randy came out explained everything in great detail. He explained the higher seer ratings and the lower seer ratings. After hearing what he put in his home we went made our decision and they came out and installed the very next day. We are super happy with Tarpy Heating & Air and won't use anyone else. This was really a great experience. I had a heatpump installed 10 years ago that was too large for the size of my house and ductwork, and due to the mismatch finally conked out. Over the years of trying to keep the system going, I had several A/C repair contractors (highly rated on Yelp) work on the system. The options presented ranged from putting mini-split systems in all of the rooms in my house (like I really want the outside of my house to look like Motel 6) to a complete redo of the system.

So I searched Yelp and settled on Tarpy Heating & Air because of the reviews. I called and spoke to Paul and set up an appointment for an estimate. Keith came and did the estimate and discussed some very reasonable proposals while he was there taking measurements, etc. He was knowledgeable, polite, professional, and knew what he was doing - that was very clear. He also said that he would be helping with the installation, which I thought was key to avoiding communication errors between what we talked about during the estimate and what actually would happen with the installation. The estimate was e-mailed within a day or two, and Paul and Keith were good to follow-up by phone to see if I had questions, etc.

The installation was great. They actually called to see if they could come a couple of days early to install in the system which worked out well. They were done in a day and a half with no mess, no dust, no dirty handprints....nothing. They needed to cut through the hardwood floors to put in a new floor register - which was done perfectly according to what we had discussed. When I left them at my house to go to work, I actually didn't even worry about what I would find when I got home (not so great experience with contractors in the past). The system has worked perfectly since installation.

Keith did come out again a couple of weeks later to put some additional tape to seal some minor air leaks in the ductwork. They always showed up early or on time for every appointment, and called several days ahead to reschedule an appointment they weren't going to be able to make. These guys are the best when it comes to heating and cooling - this really is how the experience should be having work done on your home.

I started hearing a ""draining"" or a ""gurgling"" noise coming from my laundry room and it was driving me nuts! I called to setup an appointment and spoke to the receptionist on the phone. She was VERY polite and helpful, and when I described the problem she even offered her own suggestions as to what the cause could be. She set up an appointment for the next morning between 9 and 11.

At 8:30 a.m. I get a call from one of their plumbers, Dan, who informed me he was about 20 minutes away from arriving. He arrived right on time...even a little early. He too was very polite and professional. I showed him to the laundry room, where I had not had a washer and dryer hooked up in over a year. It only took Dan a couple seconds to figure out that the P-trap for the washer drain pipe had dried out, and that's why I was hearing all the noise coming out of it. He told me to simply pour a glass of water down the drain pipe to fill up the P-trap again, which would block off any noise or gases from coming up. Sure enough it worked! He gave me a discount off the service call charge since it was such an easy fix.

I called Tarpy Plumbing heating and Air around 10am on a Monday morning when I discovered my toilet was leaking from a rusted bolt that connects the tank to the lower part of the fixture. Paul at the office was helpful and gave me feedback on what to likely expect for a repair. Keith the plumber was assigned to come to my place in the early afternoon (the time I requested due to a personal appointment). Keith called about an hour later to say he was available and would be happy to come out early if I was free. I kept the later appointment for personal reasons, but I was impressed with Keith's customer service attitude. Keith kept the later appointment, was able to quickly determine the best way to fix the toilet, and made a recommendation about replacing the toilet's flush mechanism which was old. I also asked him to replace the shower down faucet since it was spraying water when in use. Keith did everything with a good attitude and aim of providing great plumbing service. He was respectful, cleaned up after his work, and did the work right the first time. After a disastrous experience with another San Diego plumbing contractor a few years ago, I'd be happy to call Tarpy for any future plumbing or heating and cooling needs.

We called in a bit of a panic after discovering what we thought was a leak in the plumbing under the kitchen sink. Todd, from Tarpy Plumbing, responded right away and said he would be over in half an hour, on a Saturday! He quickly determined that we needed a new faucet, and gave us the option of buying one that he had already on his truck, or getting one ourselves elsewhere and having him install it. We opted to get one ourselves, and he returned promptly at 1:00 p.m. to put it in -- quickly and efficiently. The job seems perfect and we are very pleased.

My kitchen sink stopped working completely on a Friday night...nothing would drain despite plunging, liquid plumber, etc. I had used Tarpy one time before for a small project and liked them so called them again on Saturday morning. They answered their phone immediately and scheduled me for the afternoon. The plumbing technician who came was intelligent, friendly, efficient and showed an enthusiasm for plumbing that I didn't know existed. My house and plumbing are old and not well put together but he worked hard, tried different tools and now my kitchen sinks are draining beautifully. It was not how I planned on spending my day but it was as pleasant as a plumbing emergency could be.

The repairman, Keith, arrived within the two hour window given me by the receptionist. He was personable and friendly. He quickly got to work and determined that the pipe between the sinks was clogged. He took the time to explain everything and show me what he was doing. He also instructed me on the care I should take using my garbage disposal and how to avoid future problems. He was very helpful. I was also glad for the prompt service and scheduling as I had company coming for dinner. I would definitely use them again, as I have in the past, and recommend them to friends in need of a good plumbing service!

Water line to city hook up had tree roots grown into an open T pipe. Tarpy Plumbing not only helped discover the problem, but removed and replaced the section of pipe with tree roots.

Initially had water backing up into the master bath shower stall and tub. Tarpy Plumbing was called and arrived within 30 minutes. The water had drained, and they were unable to recreate the problem. They suggested a couple of short term fixes. They didn't charge for this visit even though they were there for about 45 minutes. 5 days later, the problem returned. They suggested we have the City camera the line and see if the problem was on the city's side. City came out on a Saturday; did what they could. They returned before 8 am Monday morning with the camera. This lead to the discovery of tree roots. I called Tarpy plumbing back. They gave an estimate and fixed the problem within 24 hours. They were quick to respond to calls and keep me informed as to the progress of the project. When the city inspected the finished pipe, they commented it was one of the best fixes they had seen.

Tarpy Plumbing was both quick to respond and reasonably priced. I will definitely call them again when plumbing services are needed.

Superior service solves nasty situation when I came home from working all day to find a flood. Called Tarpy Plumbing at 7 PM left a message and was called back immediately with a super estimate and early next-day installation one-hour window appointment. Technicians arrived at the beginning of the appointment window, didn't complain about my cluttered garage, patiently answered any questions I had and finished the job in the time frame predicted.
