They did the original sewer repair 5 years ago and added a clean out. Now they were able to use that clean out and were able to find the back up, and clean the pipe in less than half an hour.

Early on a Saturday morning, we discovered that our sewer had backed-up with raw sewage coming up the drain into our laundry room in the basement. Called our regular plumber and he recommended Tangney & Sons Plumbing & Sewers as his ""go-to"" resource for this type of work. I called and Joyce took my call, saying to sit tight and she'd get someone out to our home ASAP. She then called me back about 15 minutes later and said her technician would be calling me shortly. Shannon called and told me he'd be at our home between noon and 2:00pm and he showed-up right at noon ... ON A SATURDAY! He rotted-out our sewer drain, both towards the house and towards the street and we were back in business. Awesome job, awesome response, and fair pricing too.

I hired Tangney to install a sewer access point on the outside of my home. When they were finished, they left a huge dirt mound and the new access point was covered by dirt and barely accessible. I called to have them rectify the situation. They said the dirt has to settle and gave me a written promise they would come back in the spring to fix the problem if I was not satisfied. When I called to have them come back in the spring, they refused to finish the job satisfactorily. The owner would not even take my calls to discuss the situation. They are a very disreputable firm. Do not use them or refuse to pay them unless you are completely satisfied. Once they get your money, they will ignore you.

The Village of Wilmette was replacing the surface of our street with bricks and recommended getting any sewer repair work done before the new surface was installed. A neighbor recommended Tangney so I asked them to come out and scope ours. They found a dry unused catch basin and a blocked sewer line. They estimated $5,500 to fill in the catch basin with gravel and $14,000 to excavate 12' of main sewer line under the street and install 12' of 6""PVC. They offered to do both jobs for $16,500. Co-ordinating with the Village, they scheduled the street excavation after the Village had removed the old surface and laid down a gravel base, and before the new surface was installed, minimizing the excavation and restoration effort. In the course of the job, they discovered 4-6' of broken sewer line under the front lawn, which they excavated and replaced for an additional $2,500. They filled in the catch basin in a few hours, and came back a few days later to do the street work. With a crew of 4 they completed the street and front lawn digging and restoration the same day. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend Mike from Tangney and Sons! He called in advance to let us know he was on his way, and in these covid times showed up with a mask and scrubs for his shoes. He was so friendly, knowledgeable and patient to answer my questions and explain our plumbing issue. He informed me that it was a quick easy fix! This company is great. We had a sewer emergency on a Sunday. Of course we payed a higher house call fee for it being an emergency on a Sunday, but I didn't find it way ridiculous. They showed up within an hour, the professional that showed up was kind and thorough. It turned out it was the sewer main problem, but the worker was here for over an hour and even gave us this device for our floor drain so that more water wouldn't come up. With all that, we were just charged the house call fee that was quoted over the phone. I felt that they were honest and cared about what they were doing. I definitely recommend them.

Mike is a great guy. Responded very quickly to my call and came out in the worst weather...dealt quickly and efficiently with my drain and clogged sewer problems and also identified the cause of some seepage inside the house. Did a camera scope of all the underground pipes...under my slab foundation. And his charge was super low compared to any other plumbing contractor I've used. I will rely on him from here on out and not waste time and money on other companies. Wish I had known about him when I purchased this house a year back...I would have had him out to scope the drains then. He is the best.

The address of my property is at least 60-70 miles away from Tangney's location, but that did not stop Mike from immediately researching what my property required and he got plans from the Chicago Water Dept beforehand, so he arrived armed with expertise and information!
