Kent T.The problem was fixed. A clogged floor drain was cleared with a ""drain cleaning bladder"", that goes on the end of a garden hose. Didn't find the two techs very polite or informative. Sensed they really didn't want to do much to resolve if the clearing bladder didn't work. The pricing is what I have the biggest problem with. Pre paid trip charge $137 and then $357 charge for 1 hr. (if I round up by 20 min.). Just seems that $500 is very expensive for less than 2 hr. total time including drive and service. I should have asked what their hourly rate was. This is one of those experiences I just don't feel good about.
They do have a person answering calls-they did have quick response- but they didn't do any work to check on problem. Looked down one pipe said septic was full-told us to call someone else. The problem wasn't it was full- there was a clog - once another company came out and just lifted out the debris- it flowed immediately. Work should have been done initially by Tall Pines- but they didn't even attempt to inspect problem.
We're not upfront with charges. Paid for 2 visits due to service being incomplete at first.
Paid at time of each service call.
2 days later received a bill for $600 more
Would never recommend.
What a rip off company.
Scott B.We called since we had problems with our water heater . It was a holiday weekend so he said it would be $376.64 upfront. It was OKed and he turned a few valves and performed under 30 min of work and then he said there's an additional charge for $750 for diagnosis without OKing it with us. We asked how he can charge whatever he wants and he said he's part owner of the company. If you want to be scammed and be charged an exorbitant amount Tall Pines Plumbing is the company to use.
Our 24 year old sand point well was on its last legs. We couldn't shower and have someone use the sink without losing water pressure... Something had to be done. We called Tall Pines Plumbing and Aaron came in January and gave us an estimate for a new well. In the meantime, he installed a new shallow well pump to tide us over. As soon as the weight restriction on the roads was lifted, Aaron and his crew came on time to put in our new well. We couldn't be happier; we have extremely great water pressure now. We can flush, wash, shower, and run the dishwasher at the same time. Side note... Nancy was also top notch, keeping us up to date, and answering all our questions. This was a smooth operation. I highly recommend Tall Pines Plumbing.

Exceptional service! we had several issues unrelated to the original call and they handled every thing very professionally.
I had a weekend, same-day emergency hot water heater repair in the Manitowish Waters area. They were the only local plumber answering and responding to a weekend phone call. The company, the technician, and its emergency dispatch service communicated their arrival time well. The technician was pleasant, efficient, and informative. I could cancel the repair and pay only the fee for the emergency call after the technician assessed and estimated the cost. Their service truck had all the necessary tools and repair parts without knowing beforehand exactly what the problem would be. The cost was a little over $700, which included their 24/7 emergency-call fee, but was certainly much less than replacing this high-end, 4-yr-old water heater (which was not an installation of Tall Pines'). And I believe this repaired water heater is now good for another ten years.
One of the worst encounters I have had with a company in a long time.
We made the appointment on a Tuesday, on that next Monday, the day Tall Pines was supposed to come out and fix it at 8:30am, I got the estimate which was triple what I had expected it to be. So I called to get an explanation of 1) why it was so high; 2) why at 9:22 they were already an hour late for said appointment; and 3) get a general idea of what was going to happen for the day. Fairly reasonable, I believe from a customer standpoint.
The owner' son, Aaron, was NOT only rude and condescending that I would have the GALL to ask questions about his bid and that I should just take his word for it that was what it costs. He also pseudo admonished me that I didn't get the text the were coming or bid estimate until 9 am that morning because it was MY phone that was having the problem.
When I finally reached the journeyman on his way, he had been driving an HOUR in the wrong direction to a different appointment and then needed to turn around and head my way.
So now at 10:15, my 8:30 appointment wasn't happening until at least 11:30.
At this point, I asked how we pause this appointment because bells were going off on my end. I called Aaron back and wanted just a bit more explanation on how this could have gone so wrong and I am flabbergasted at how he reacted. He asked me if I didn't want to pay $2110 for the job, would I want to pay $3000? I asked it was trying to be funny??? He said that if I don't sign off on this job, the day of, that he won't touch it. Then he ended the call by telling me I was too difficult, that I was being a bitch and that he was gong to call the journeyman and cancel the appointment. Then HE HUNG UP ON ME!
I do realize that there was a lot of communication from me on this subject to get an explanation from them which I never got other than he has been doing this for 20 yrs and that is what it costs but to treat a paying client in such a manner is just ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE.
Be assured that if anyone in the Tripoli/Minocqua/Rhinelander area who ever asks for my option on plumbing they will hear this story. Do NOT call this company. And it's a shame because when I talked to the owner, Ron on the very first call last Tuesday, he seemed like a very nice guy. Perhaps he should reevaluate his employees conduct with potential clients.
