Used them about 18 months ago. Nearly every part of what they did led to more work. Lots of mistakes. Since they finished, nearly everything had to be redone by my current contractor. All is great now. The difference is skill level, attitude, and expense are why I would not recommend this company.
Renee-Dwayne D.What great service today from Rob at Taco Service. My mom dropped a necklace down the sink, he was there in no time to help retrieve it! Clean, and super fast service! Thank you so much! Will definitely be calling them again next time I need something!
BILL S.Great service, nice people, reasonable rates and worth considering the next time you have a heating or air conditioning problem. One thing that I was impressed with, they are very familiar with my NEST thermostat something that others in the industry don't know how to use.
Highly recommended!
I don't understand what the other reviews are talking about. These guys came highly recommended from Servicemagic and I found their professionalism and work to be excellent. My heat went out during our recent cold snap and my family was freezing. Rob responded to my call for emergency boiler service almost immediately. He got my heat up and running quickly, and then took the time to tell me what had happened and to explain in detail how to avoid it in the future. He was incredibly patient - taking the time to answer all of my questions. The charge for the service was less than I had been quoted by 2 other companies (who had both said that they were very busy due to the cold and that they ""would get to me when they get to me"").
You should look at the 5 reviews (link below) - 4 of which are excellent - that are identified as being ""not currently recommended"" - whatever that means.
Taco Service is now my regular heating company.
Never hire these guys. Came to my house for an annual maintenance, one of them puts a foot through my ceiling. Says the boss will come tomorrow to fix it. Doug comes the next day and says that I should install plywood in the ceiling ($500) so this doesn't happen when his men come next year for maintenance. I said, why dont you fix the hole and I can get the plywood installed next year. He then says, sorry I am not fixing anything, keep your money that you owe us for maintenance and left.
Dont ever deal with this company.
Wei C.I feel obligated to share my experience so that other people wouldn't need to spend the time and money to go through the same thing I have experienced.
On Aug. 21st, 2012, I found that the fuel heating system in my house leaked fuel. The basement floor is covered with fuels and it smelled very strong. I was panic and afraid of getting a fire or something. I called my usual service company. Unfortunately it's still too early and they didn't answer. I decided to call someone else right away to get it fixed as quick as possible. After research on the internet, I found TACO, Inc. (516-770-2939). According to servicemagic.com, it has a 4.15 rating among 156 reviews. It seemed to me a pretty decent company so that I made the call. The representative was friendly and helpful. I got a call from TACO, INC around 30 minutes later. I explained the situation and they sent a technician to my house within one hour. After a quick inspection, the technician found that there was a wrinkle on the copper pipe from the fuel tank to the boiler and there was a tiny hole on it and it was leaking. So it seemed to be a simple fix. The technician quickly replaced the copper pipe and drama started. He told me that my boiler is super dirty and ""choked"". In order to fix the problem, he suggested me to do a what-so-called ""boiler scrubbing"", which would cost me $1200. I was confused and asked him whether that's part of the annual maintenance. He said no. I told him that it's lots of money and I needed to do some study. I asked him whether he could do the annual maintenance at the same time since he was here already. (When I made the appointment with them, I asked for the annual maintenance too.) He said that it didn't make sense to do the maintenance before the boiler scrubbing, since I would need to do a maintenance after the boiler scrubbing anyway. He told me that I am covered for the service for 30 days.(I didn't ask him) Then he left. It took around 6 days for me to use up all the hot water and then I realized now the boiler couldn't start. I tried to reset and it didn't work. I called TACO, INC and explained the situation. To my surprise, Rob returned my call and after listened to my issue, he said it's not the problem of the service. It's the boiler itself. I needed a ""boiler scrubbing"" and some other services to make it work. The boiler is choked and crashing. (exact words he used.) More dramatic part is that now the charge will be $1800. I tried to state the fact that: 1. the boiler was working fine before they came; 2. When they came to fix the leakage, they shouldn't just leave it in a not working stage. 3. Their technician told me that there was a 30 day warranty of the service. I thought it's reasonable for them at least come and check for free. I would be willing to pay extra services if needed. (not the $1800 of course) But I wanted the boiler working now and I could at least take a hot shower at night. Rob told me that he couldn't do anything without the ""boiler scrubbing"". The discussion turned to argument. Rob told me during the argument, ""someone could take a cold shower"". Finally I gave up and said I would review TACO, INC and bought it to BBB. Rob said, ""if you dare to do this, I will bring you to court.""
I called my normal service company. (I don't want to reveal the name in case there are people accusing me of doing advertisement.) The service guy came, checked the boiler, did the annual maintenance and everything is working. It cost me $150 for annual maintenance and the problem is fixed. The technician told me that the boiler is in a good state and could be used for years (although it's old). I intentionally stayed with him and saw him vacuum the boiler. I told him about my experience. He laughed but was not willing to give any comments.
Rude within first minute of phone call when I just wanted to discuss a residential project. Will not work in Suffolk. Let Nassau keep their poor customer service.
We are first time home owners and of course ran into lots of things that needed to be fixed, one of which was a leak plus we needed someone with knowledge to install a water filtration system for us. Rob and Mike from TACO came right away to give us an estimate which was reasonable. They were very professional and Mike worked on it by himself, none of that ""out source"" stuff. They left my basement clean and neat. i truly enjoyed working with them and already made an appt. for boiler tune up.
