Johnny started his plumbing career in Illinois in 1986. After completing his apprenticeship, he earned his state license and worked for the same company for 12 years. After that, he brought his family to Higginsville and worked in Kansas City for a while. He later discovered a small plumbing business in Grain Valley that specialized in plumbing for new homes. Residents in Higginsville began reaching out for plumbing assistance, one by one. Within a year, the number of calls became so overwhelming that he chose to start his own company, which he named Sword & Shield Plumbing. A few years down the line, he relocated his family to Heartland Dairy to become the chief plumber. Two years later, he was invited to move to Kentucky to work as a supervisor at a large plumbing service company. In the end, he came back to Higginsville in 2005 to relaunch Sword & Shield Plumbing.
