I hired SWG to put a new gas line to my barbecue. I signed an invoice for X amount of dollars and I paid the invoice. This guy showed up out of the blue saying he was gonna stop by my house and rip out the gas line. He sent me this invoice which had no signature on it for one and a half times what I owed. I specifically signed the first work order, this work order recently had no signature. I told him if he contacted me again I would call the police. This guy Scott is a loose cannon and he's dishonest. I just got another email. It seems that when this guy runs low on work, he has a habit of sending out bogus bills to try to get more money. Nice try.. Also the faucet install we're not installed correctly they were loose I had to have another plumber come and fix them. Considering they charge top dollar from the very beginning and the service is not good

Found Scott from Nextdoor recommendation. Knowledge-wise he's appears to be spot on. Clean and respectful. However I'm giving 1 star for the lack of ethics in this transaction...many hidden and dishonest fees. I was going to let it go but I felt that I wouldn't be doing justice for others so I decided to write this review so others can be fully aware before engaging Scott. The job at our house was simple--- replace shower faucet cartridge from two bathrooms--- exact same faucet brands and types. Day 1, Scott came to see what type of cartridge it requires--- spent less than 15 mins here. Said he'd come back next day to replace and would charge 125/hr (special Placentia discount) and verbally confirmed that the job should require no more than that amount. Day 2 came back with the parts from Home Depot and completed the replacement. From start to finish (including taking 15 minutes to write up the invoice) he was here for 1 hour.

Here's what he charged us:
1) 2.5 hours of work
2) $58 for mileage and travel (our home is 1 mile from his office)
3) overcharged cartridge -- $25 at Home Depot but he wrote down $30 then added another 20% markup. Couldn't show me the Home Depot receipts.
4) $3 for an Allen screw

I balked, of course and asked how was he here for 2.5 hours when he was clearly only here at the house for no more than 1 hour 15 minutes from day 1 and day 2.
His response was that he had to put in travel time. His ""office"" is .5 mile away, by the way. We are both in Placentia. :). But wait.... he was already charging me $30 for mileage and travel... hmmmm. Double/triple dipping???

He then brought down his labor hours from 2.5 to 2 hours and then brought down travel cost to 29....which is still way overs!!! We just let it go cuz it was getting late.

Word of advice to you all looking for good and honest plumbers. Be wary of hidden costs--- make sure those items mentioned above are fully disclosed before you allow a plumber to work on your house. I should've been more keen but I let my guards down... not knowing he was going to charge travel time on top of labor!!! Also... always ask for receipts if you are not going with a per job flat rate plumber.

So... in summary...the total cost from Scott to replace two shower faucet cartridges that took less than 1 hour of actual labor to replace costed us $346.75. My plumber friend who was out of town --- reason why I had to call a plumber in the first place... laughed at me over text and said I got ripped off.

But thank you Scott, for replacing my cartridges. If you had fully disclosed how you charge and was HONEST in calculating your actual, true labor hours and material costs I would've given you 5 stars.

Requested for an estimate and eval of the plumbing in a single family house (Roughly $200 for 1 hr work, added the cost for travel too in this fee), and Christine who is responsible for scheduling kept modifying the date. Once we finalized a date and time, she texted me 1.5 hrs before he was supposed to arrive and told me Scott would not be coming at all that day because he was on call. She then gave me a fixed date and time (which she previously told me was unavailable) but it is difficult to adjust multiple schedules after being cancelled on and unfortunately my group could not accommodate. I have no tolerance for flakey schedulers and can't trust that they wouldn't flake on me again. Heard great things about Scott, just too bad it is so difficult to schedule with Christine and keep an appointment, couldn't even get past the gate. Suggest he replace with someone who can better schedule in a more reliable way with clients. Will find a more reliable alternative.

I need to hire someone to help my parents with some minor plumbing issues. Scott and his crew showed up quickly and immediately recognize the problem and fixed it efficiently. I have always had good experiences with this company. They are local to Placentia and are very caring and helpful. Having to care for my parents is tricky while working full-time. It's nice to have reliable and trustworthy Plumbers To help resolve the issues so I don't have to worry about them.

From residential to the commercial trade, Scott's workmenship in large scale buildings and Pipelineing is what you would consider to be a cut above what the best has to offer. I can't say enough good things about Scott and SWG plumbing. On several occasions he has bailed me out. Most recently, he dropped everything to come fix the washer shutoff valve because we were in the process of moving and had to get the washer and dryer out.
He is super knowledgeable, efficient, and always has fair pricing. I trust him with all of my plumbing needs.
