Superior Mechanical Services
Company Overview
Superior Mechanical Services, Inc. was established in 1948 as a family-run enterprise. In 2005, Jerry Williams and Joe Enos, who had been with us for years, acquired the company to maintain Superior's long-standing tradition of excellence in mechanical contracting. We operate as a union shop, most of our field technicians and staff have been with us for many years. We are proud of the high standards we uphold in our work and strive to deliver value-driven service through a down-to-earth methodology.
Jerry has been part of Superior Mechanical Services, Inc. since 2000. Raised in a family of mechanical tradespeople, as the child of a plumbing and heating contractor, and he completed a union apprenticeship in plumbing and pipefitting. He is a certified public accountant and obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting from Temple University and an MBA in taxation from Cal State Hayward.

Michel Orquiz and Brandon Klienfelter did an amazing job installing the water heater. They had a very good positive attitude. The overall job was ""superior"". HAHAHA Hope to see them again.
Jeannie G.5+ Stars!!! Ross Felkins and Brandon Spriggs just finished replacing my Amana heating and air conditioning system. The compressor went out on my old one and they took it out and replaced it with a newer, upgraded model! They did a fantastic job inside and outside my home. They are very qualified technicians and took extra care working in my rather elaborate Colonial Revival home, built in 1897--including their building a lattice structure to nicely cover the AC unit that is located in my garden--it's quiet and hardly noticeable now. I highly recommend Ross and Brandon and Superior Mechanical Services! I have been doing business with this company--via an annual maintenance contract--since the major remodel was completed in 2004. I look forward to being able to use this new system with Alexa--can't wait!
Rosa M.Excelent work loved the friendly worker's and that they are bilingual speaker's ,and they did a clean and proffesional work my mom was really confortable with michael and cesar working on my house doing my heather and water heater.
They were replacing the heater and had to return 2x to fix the leaking issued. They were late / no show and does not contact the delay.
Absolutely horrible! I would not recommend them at all. After several quotes we decided on Superior. The install was scheduled for 2 days, possibly 3. On day 2 they knew they weren't going to complete the job but they said they had other jobs scheduled and would not be able to come back until the following week! I called the office, etc. and they said that the reason they couldn't come back the next day was because we (the customer) said we wouldn't be home which was not true. We had planned to take 3 days off to accommodate the install. They ended up coming back 2 days later and the installer was at our house from 8am to 9pm and it was still having issues. Finally it was complete and then 2 days later we decided to use the heater and it wasn't working. The installer had to come back on Saturday to replace a part. I thought finally everything was complete. Not even 2 months later the temperature went to over 90 degrees so we wanted to turn on our AC but it wasn't working! I called the emergency services and they wanted to charge us $200 for same day service! I had to argue with the supervisor and they finally said they would have someone out the next morning. Still waiting on the results but I don't think this will be the end. I spent $14,000+ for the system and all we got was horrible service and a system that doesn't work. If you decide to get HVAC please take your time and find a good company because I do not recommend them at all!!!
Nea L.I am extremely upset with how they do their appointment scheduling. I work fulltime so when I set a date and time I expect them to be arriving as so. This company scheduled me for today and was very adamant about me being at my house super early. Time passed and no one ever showed. I called and the receptionist stated that the worker was on another job site. And that they would give me a call to tell me when he would be done. But not a definite time. Wtf? I told her no, and she stated I could reschedule. So I asked if I could reschedule for next Friday, then she goes... Oh, well actually we wouldn't know if we have availability till next week, so we're going to just call you to see when your available next week... like that sounds promising.
Mind you.. I've been without a heater going on a month and a half now, because they also failed to report back to my landlord the details of my heater issue. So finally after all this time of me being out of your mind cold for the past month, I was really looking forward to getting it finally fixed.
Superior diagnosed a bad furnace gas valve and charged $99 for the diagnosis and wanted over $700 for the repair. We got a second opinion, which cost $70, and the second opinion guy even cleaned the sensor which got the furnace gas valve working again at no extra charge.
I told Superior about this and they refunded our $99 and apologized. Whether you hide or deny an error, or own up to it and make amends, is to me more important than whether you have technical skill.
2 stars for diagnostic abilities and cost, 5 stars for owning the mistake and making amends. That's 3.5 stars average, but I give slightly more weight to the latter factor, therefore rounding up to 4 stars.
Jim I.They came out once to diagnose the heater exchange was needed to be replaced, ordered it and then again to replace it. They were on time, replaced it in an efficient manner, & sent the same technician because he was already familiar with the situation. (He stressed the importance of cleaning the furnace filter with a hose once every 3M & hold it up to the sunlight to ensure its cleanliness. No one has ever told me that and I have put it on my calendar to do so.)
BTW, they are authorized to perform warranty repairs for Goodman furnaces.
I would definitely use them again.
Their name says it all: SUPERIOR. My 32-year-old air conditioning compressor died at the start of a heat wave in June. I contacted 13 vendors to get quotations to replace the entire HVAC system (furnace, air conditioner, and evaporator coil). Some vendors didn't return messages left on their answering machine. Some were so backlogged that the earliest they could install a new system would be August. In the end, I got quotations from three vendors and awarded the contract to Superior. Their price was competitive, and their 10-year labor warranty was far better than competitor's warranties of 1 to 3 years.
Working with Superior was a pleasure. The entire process, from the initial quotation visit by Alex Whitlock, through completion of the installation by Pablo and Mike, was very professional. Alex was the only vendor to complete a load calculation using the Air Conditioning Contractors of America's ""Manual J"" to size the equipment. Other vendors asked me what size equipment they should quote. Isn't that what they're supposed to determine? The proposal Alex presented was typewritten and thorough, with a full description of the equipment, scope of work, and pricing. I asked some clarifying questions about the proposal, and Alex revised the document and sent me a new version promptly. The installation was completed in two days, and Pablo and Mike were punctual, professional, and ""neat and tidy"". The installation workmanship is first-rate, and the equipment is working perfectly.
Superior is a local, family-run company in business since 1948. Their employees are members of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 342 and Alex said some employees have worked for Superior for many years. Contrast this with other HVAC companies whose employees aren't union members, and who work on a commission basis.
If you want to do business with a company with professionalism and integrity, look no further than Superior.
Alexander B.We we're having a trouble with our heater in our office building, and the crew of at superior took great care of us. After a few visits and trying to fix our existing unit it was decided that getting a new heating unit was needed. When the new heater arrived they were out here in a hurry to install the new unit! They are prompt, reliable and professional!
