I cannot say enough good things about Sunset West. I had a water pipe on my side of the meter break. LADWP never showed after many calls and LA Fire Dept came last night to shut it off. I talked to Sunset West's owner Jimmy Papik at 7:30 am and two of his people started work by 10:30 am. They had to cut out some brick. They did an excellent job even putting in new brick. Just an excellent job - knew their job, courteous, neat and thorough. FIVE stars plus. Highly recommend.

I've used Sunset West a couple times, but that was when Jim, the owner was out doing the calls. Last week Sunset West no-showed an appointment. They had given me a two-hour window, and when it was past the window time period, I called them, but no one picked up. I left a message, and now, a week later, they have still not called me. I've called a few times since, but no one picks up. I think it is possible that 1) they have gone out of business? 2) Jim, the owner sold the business? So odd to just leave a repeat-client high and dry, no call, no communication - no care. I keep thinking that their phone message will be changed to let people know that they have a family emergency or something has happened, but the message doesn't change. I thought I had experienced it all with contractors, but I guess their world will continue to surprise me.

The hot water in my bathroom kept dripping and it was driving me CRAZY, so a friend told me to reach out to Sunset West Plumbing and they were AWESOME.

Oliver came promptly between the 1 hour window I was promised (1 hour, what a wonderfully short window!), and worked quickly to solve the problem. Not only that, he walked me through the whole process, explained why I was having issues and gave me tips on how to handle some of the minor repairs myself in the future. Oliver was extremely professional, charming, knowledgeable and friendly!

I will definitely be recommending Sunset West Plumbing to friends and will continue to use them for any additional plumbing needs I have.

My place is about sixty years old and showing it. I can do some maintenance but recently I had to bite the bullet and hire a plumber. I picked Sunset West because it was close to home and had good reviews which appeared genuine rather than manufactured. Set a time between 2 and 4 p.m. and waited with some trepidation. I figured whomever arrived would probably show up around three or so.

The doorbell rang at 2:03 p.m.

Oliver was the fellow who'd been assigned my case. I explained to him that I had a blocked bathroom sink and tub that hadn't been used in ages and, if he was up for it, that I needed a few other things done as well. He was more than willing to fix the other problems even though Sunset West's website did not list them as services performed. Off to a great start as far as I was concerned. So far, so good.

Unclogging the bathroom sink took a little time but ended up(Through no fault of Oliver's, but of the vagaries of sixty year old plumbing) causing my downstairs' neighbor's sink to back up and flood as well. I asked Oliver if he wouldn't mind taking care of her first and that I'd pay. He was able to fix her problem in a little under a half hour and now my neighbor doesn't resent me. So far, so great!

Once both sinks were taken care of he moved on to the bathtub. This turned out to be a problem, again due to sixty year old plumbing. Oliver proceeded to draw diagrams explaining what the problem was, and we headed up to the roof of my place to see if he could snake through the vents up there but it turned out it wasn't doable. We'd have to go through the wall to get to the pipes themselves. I asked him if he new a contractor he could recommend and he replied he could do it himself and take care of the drywall and plastering. So far, so fantastic!

All in all, took about three hours, far less time than I expected, even with the fact there's still work to be done. I am more than confident next week I'll finally have a working bathtub after four years of having to use my other shower. I'm going to make a point to ask for Oliver again when I make the appointment. Fellow was old school competence, total class act. Can't recommend him enough and consider him extremely trustworthy. Pricing was pretty reasonable and I look forward to hiring this company again. In fact I will definitely now consider Sunset West my de facto plumbing service.

I don't usually write reviews but in this case I really wanted to let people know just how great this team is. I have used Jimmy and his crew for the past five years, they are beyond reliable, and efficient. I have never had a problem they couldn't solve and have been prompt and truly professional! The price has always been fair and recently they went the nine yards to get me a new water heater which they found was under warranty. I loved Oliver, he went to great lengths to explain everything. He and his son were truly people who can be trusted to get the job done right and never cut corners. They are beyond 5 stars.

Oliver was on the job today! Showed up at the right time and worked efficiently. He was very knowledgeable and a wealth of information. Fixed one problem on the spot and ruled out all but one solution for the second problem. Accomplished a lot for a reasonable rate!

I am a do-it-myself homeowner. When my sewer main backed up, I tried snaking it myself. When that failed, I needed to call someone who would be fair and experts. So, I called Sunset West.

Oliver called back quickly and we went over the problem. He went over pricing and things he would try. Price seemed fair.

He arrived, diagnosed, and started snaking the pipe. While we waited for it to do its work, we started talking. And I learned that Oliver was not only an expert, but he was also a really great guy, like someone I would have over for a BBQ.

He finished the job, my main cleared, and he said they would send a bill.

Oliver knows about true, old school, customer service. This is the way every company should be.

I had an excellent experience with Sunset West. Junior offered me immediate service. Cecil and a crew ""rebuilt"" all of the insides of my five 20-year-old toilets and then Oliver and he removed the roots and other yuck in my household drains. They did not try to ""upsell"" me on anything. They were tidy, polite, and personable. I have no reservations about recommending Sunset West.

Cannot sing their praises more. I have had a total-and I mean TOTAL-nightmare trying to find good plumbers. I have had a broken shower for 8 months that no one could figure out. These guys were able to fix it in no time at all! They think outside the box and really do stick to their tagline 'No problems, only solutions'. They were courteous, professional and even cleaned up after themselves! We will be using them again for sure. Thanks Sunset West-I wish I had found you guys months ago!!!
