Horrible experience. The guy who came over is a Korean, small and old (maybe over 60), but feisty. I explained to him the problem with laundry causing water overflow. But he insisted on just cleaning the main line. Of course, the problem didn't get fixed. When I called him back, he wanted to charge $60, now to clean the branch line, which he insisted on *not* cleaning in the first place. I told him to go away unless if he can do it for free. He said no, and left. Will never use their service again.

Horrible experience. We agreed to meet at my rental property at 9am today. He shows up at 8:30am and starts knocking on the designated apartment doors. (I provided him an email with the apartment #s and specific repairs). He proceeded to fix something not on the list that a tenant tells him about to relight a pilot light on a wall heater (which I can do in 5 minutes). He wants to charge $65 for this. He leaves at 9am for some reason, my wife is there to open up the doors waiting for him, and she is busy calling other plumbers, I call him on his cell and leave a vmail to ask what's going on. He then shows at 9:30am and then says it's $65 for the pilot relight and $485 to unplug a toilet and $85 to install a faucet sink.

At this point, my wife settles with him and pays him $40 cash to go away. Bad, Bad experience.

my hot water pipe below the sink broke last night and I called them today (Friday) at 8:45 am. the guy on the phone (Mike) spoke good English and scheduled an appointment between 9:00 and 10:00 AM!!!!!! If that is not impressive, i dont know what is.

the guy (Chen (?)) showed up at 9:15 AM and was super fast in replacing the broken pipe. He didn't speak much English but rather drew a lot of pictures :). The pipe was quickly replaced and he was out of the door by 9:45 AM!!! And the best of all, the quote was very reasonable and I even made it to work on time!!!

I would certainly hire them again!

Called them on a Monday for service on a Wednesday. No problem. I then changed it Tuesday around noon to the same day at 2p. He arrived five minutes early (!!). Mine was an easy fix; the kitchen faucet needed to be tightened. He gave me a fair quote, and then quickly and efficiently fixed my problem.

When I went to let the guy into my building, the first thing he did was give me his business card, which set my mind at ease. When he walked - er, race walked?? - to my door with all his stuff, I practically had to run to keep up with him. He was organized and knew his stuff.

The person on the phone (every time) spoke English without any problems. The plumber himself did not speak English very well, but he made sure that I understood him. He even drew me pictures to be absolutely certain.

All in all, very pleased. Would totally use them again for future work.

We had a broken water main that flooded our back common area as well as side yard. It was a mess! We called 'A-1 Plumbing' and Chin the Plumber showed up within 20 minutes. He told us it would be a major job. He had to dig a giant hole and remove the broken pvc pipe and replaced it with copper pipe. He had the job done in about 6 hours. He was hard working, professional and most of all honest. We were blown away with the total owed because it was a much more comfortable number than our best case estimate. I recommend this company 100 times over! Better than any big name, corporate establishment, plus it helps the small business owner. Excellent serice and who cares about the language discrepancy, this guy is TOP NOTCH!!

Great service. Called the previous day for a leaky tub faucet. The older gentleman came out the next morning on the dot at 9am and gave me an estimate and it sounded ok. He got the parts and replaced it in the next hour and was done. He does hand out a card that says Ace 1 Plumbling.

I've used them twice for a rental home in Sunnyvale. My experience was the same as all other reviews; English on the phone, but the owner (Korean) doesn't speak English. Very reasonable price and quick work, fast response time.

But, when I just had them out for a third job, not so good. This was to repair work he did last February. He told my tenant that we needed to replace the kitchen faucet. It was just worked on and he replaced parts in it and he repiped the sink drain (Feb 2011). We said we would go take a look before he did any work. All it needed was a new hose, actually just a washer. But then when we did the repair and were checking for leaks, found that the sink drain basket was leaking and has been leaking since he replace it last February. It was missing a gasket and wasn't sealed well with putty.

Lastly, my tenant asked him if he knew about washing machines because it was leaking and he was there. He told her she needed a new one. It's not very old and there is one piece that needs to be replaced where the hose connects to the washer.

Maybe he was having a bad day? But, I probably won't call them again.

WOW! One of the most knowledgeable, hard working and polite plumber we've every hired and we've had a few. We were very impress with his knowledge of the problem. He was in and out in no time. It's definitely worth the slight communication problem.

My experience was similar to the other postings. I needed a repair for a bathroom sink. The Korean technician arrived at my door in less than 1/2 hour. His English is not very good, but I did not call him to have a conversation. He is an excellent plumber!

The job was done in no more than 20 minutes and the total charge (for everything) was $65. The bill also included parts that would have cost me ~ $30 if I had to buy them at my local hardware store.

I was completely satisfied with the price and quality of the work, and will definitely call Sunnyvale Plumbing again for my future plumbing problems.

We used this service twice. We had a Korean technician come out who worked hard and fast and who was very polite. He was able to fix our problems quickly and had very reasonable fees. As other yelpers already noted there are some problems with communication but this guy is an expert and seems to be highly ethical, so we highly recommend him!
