Henry, our owner started his journey in heating along with air conditioning in the mid-70s when he started working with a leading company in the HVAC industry. Upon years in the field, in the year 1982, he along with Fred LaBelle created Sun Heating & Cooling. Since then, he extended the firm's range of services to cover domestic new construction. Sun now offers full residential and industrial service, covering upgrades, care, as well as on-demand constant urgent support.

Came out to service a 3 year old AC unit that another company had installed, and been dealing with issues for THREE YEARS, and found the issues and repaired them right away.

It took him less than an hour to diagnose, and come up with a plan. About another hour to take apart the unit and fix it. (That another company couldn't figure out after installing it improperly, THREE YEARS ago.)

We also initially requested a quote for a Space Pack style unit for our second story and we were promised we wouldn't need it now that the AC was working properly. I was very skeptical, but now even our master bedroom is 67° when the thermostat reads 67°. Plus the AC unit is no longer grinding or stalling.

We should have called Sun first. Learn from my mistake!

Disrespectful, rude, chauvinistic management.
We had a recent terrible experience- It started in July the day after I brought my newborn twins home from the hospital and our air conditioning went out. We called the company and they were going to send somebody out but because the temps were getting so high inside the house, we were told to take our newborns elsewhere, which is just the beginning of the inconveniences. They came out, we paid the technician right then, and the air conditioner was fixed later that night, so we thought. One month later we were in the exact same situation. The ac went out again and we had to take our 2 infants out of our home. When I called to ask them to return and fix what wasn't fixed the first time, I was told that there would not be a charge for this return visit. I was also told by the technician, who couldn't do anything when he got there because the unit was frozen, that there would not be a charge for that visit. So the next day another technician came out and eventually got it working. One week later I get two bills from Sun heating and cooling. One bill for the return visit that I was already told we wouldn't need to pay for. And one bill for a much higher amount than we were told when the technician was at the house. I read the notes on the bill and there was a discrepancy in the tech's write up versus what was itemized and charged. So I called to discuss with the company to ask that they correct their billing mistake for the return visit and ask about the charges I wasn't clear on. When I spoke with Lee, the manager, he was the rudest, most condescending and disrespectful man that I have spoken to as a customer. Not to mention sexist. He interrupted me from the moment we got on the phone, spoke condescendingly to me, and wouldn't listen to my concerns. I had told him I was ready to pay, as I had for the first tech visit but I wanted to understand the charges, but he just wanted to argue or ""send the bill to collections if I'm going to keep taking up an hour of his time"" after 11 minutes of being on the phone. However the most outrageous part was when he told me ""you need to talk to your husband and have him explain this to you"". These bills were addressed to me and my name is the only name on the account. The insinuation that I needed a man to be able to understand and handle this situation is so offensive. I could not believe that someone could be so blatantly disrespectful and misogynistic. Even more shockingly and infuriating was that the owner of the company, Henry, was no more understanding nor apologetic when I told him how his manager spoke to me. He said ""that doesn't sound like Lee"". This is how they treat a customer of 21 years after THEY make an error and take 4 trips to solve an issue they claim to be pros at. Do not waste your time or money supporting this business.

I have used Sun Heating for emergencies and for yearly maintenance for many years,. They are so professional and reliable that? I recommended them to Terraces of Townsend, a luxury group of townhouses in downtown Birmingham, and now they use them for scheduled? maintenance.

I am always suspicious? when I? see? reviews that complain of unfair pricing, especially when they are complaining about a respected established business in our community for? decades. When a consumer is unhappy with their bill it doesn't mean that it was unfair or that the service was less than perfect. I want a safe and reliable system with reliable people to call when something happens. Sun Heating is the best.

Do not contract with this firm if you want fair pricing. You will be gouged 100% of time. I did research after the fact, even had conversation with the manager to discuss my findings on cost of parts vs. what I was charged. We as Customers understand we need to pay for time it takes. However they will charge you 4x the time it takes. They have no interest in doing the right thing estimating an ""up to"" an amount, only justifying their premium pricing policy where they charge everyone the maximum amount of time it will take. My $150-200 job cost us over $600. Unfortunately when your heat is out, you do not have time to shop around.

Unprofessional !! Was told explicitly on-site visit covers labor cost. Then after diagnosis was told not the case and stuck with additional $125. I complained and was told ""sorry"" you were misinformed. I would not recommend nor use again.

Good Evening, I met Henry back in the early years when he was first learning the heating and cooling business, I was building homes in the Detroit area, and then he and another gentleman opened up Sun Heating and Cooling, Henry became a major player in this business, for a few reason, (a) his workers showed up when they were scheduled, (b) there prices stood firm, and (c) He did what he said he was going to do.
And then last but not least Henry was honest, and in this industry a persons word is everything. And with all the building that was going on Henry and Fred's (his Partner) business grew leaps and bounds to a full fledge heating company, with the most fantastic employees, All in all if you want good service, from a reputable company, You know this in H A Sun Heating and Cooling.
