Harry K.Friday Night my kitchen sink backed up. Black sewage came back when I used the plunger to correct the problem. It took hours for the water to go down. I have had this problem before, and over weeks of putting soap, bleach, and plunging, the drainage would return to normal.
This time I wanted a plumber to come out because I didn't want to mess with it for so long. So I called around and found Sullivan's Plumbing and Heating from Berwyn.
They tried snaking the line but couldn't get the snake to turn 90 degrees from the down pipe that comes from the sink and into the basement. They had to go into the crawlspace and take a cap off of a pipe and continue snaking from there. Then at the other end of this pipe at the other end of the house, they drilled a hole so they could make it into a Y connection. The guy doing the drilling and snaking got sprayed with black sewage. It went all over where he was working! At the site where he drilled the hole, black sewage ran down the plastic pipe that is connected to the sump pump. It looked like it was something living from the X-Files.
This guy busted his ass, and finally, after they thought they might not get it, at least his partner wasn't sure, but the guy drilling seemed optimistic when he was cleaning the Y joint. He said, ""Your problem is right here,"" pointing to the Y Joint. Since rodding everything else didn't fix the problem.
He was right. Thankfully.
The next thing you know, after they were working for over [[[3]]] hours, the water finally went down. One guy thought the long pipe was going to have to be replaced with PVC.
When they gave me the bill, it was only $300! This was for the weekend after that guy busted his ass!
So if you want a determined crew to help you out in your hour of plumbing need, call Sullivan's at 708.795.0700.
They were polite and did a nice job cleaning up afterwards.
I am glad that's over!
Sabine K.I had multiple plugged up drains, needed an old sink u-trap replaced and a spiggot fixed. It took longer than expected since an old pipe had to replaced, requiring the cutting into a wall (which I will have to fix myself). Russ and Brandon where very courteous while solving the issues. They came back for the spiggot a couple days later and quickly fixed it. I personally appreciated their calm and matter-of-fact demeanor. I will hire them again should I need any plumbing work done.
Just beware: If you're using a credit card this company charged us $20.00. I think that is something that should be related to your clients when you make an appointment. It just takes a small thing to make a poor impression.
ANTHONY D.My bathtub unexpectedly backed up this morning - just as I was getting ready to shower and head out the door. Sullivan has been taking care of my condo complex's plumbing & heating for years. I called their office right away and my plumbing issue was being worked on within 30 minutes of calling them. They had the plumbing issue resolved within 30 minutes of them walking in the door. Russ and Brandon were courteous and answered my questions and explained how things were resolved. My biggest fear was the cost. Their fee was very reasonable given that I called them and got immediate help! I highly recommend Sullivan's Plumbing & Heating!
I called and left a message...3 days later no response. My husband calls, speaks to a guy and he says he will call back with a quote...3 days later, no response. My husband calls again, the guy says there's no record of the call and that maybe my husband dialed the wrong number, so he took the info again and will find out what's going on. Still no response. It looks like they're too busy for anyone and anything. The worst part is the guy accused my husband of calling the wrong number for heating & plumbing service?!!!
called yesterday to get a plumber out here to replace my garbage disposal. Guy on the phone was not very personable but said they would come today in the morning. At noon I phoned asking where they were. At 12:45 they called saying they were on a job all week and weren't going to be able to come. Its too bad because I used them to replace my water heaters and they were terrific then but I am unhappy with the way I was treated today and won't be using them again.
Michael W.Called Sullivan's to fix a tankless water heater which burst during the first Polar Vortex. They came, fixed the issue and charged me about $200. Two weeks later, it burst again and had them back out to take a look. Turns out I had 2 MORE breaks in the top portion of the heater which really upset me. Cold air is flowing down through a pipe from the roof causing the unit to freeze. I was then charged $225. After that repair, the guys recommended I have something installed which would prevent cold air from entering from outside. I was told it wasn't an expensive job and would greatly reduce the risk of my heater freezing again. I was pretty happy...then it changed.
A year later, I wanted to have this part installed (called a damper). Called them to have this done and left a message with the office. To date, I've left 5 messages...5...and I keep getting the same response, ""Well, I'll take the message and let someone know."" No one has called me back. What really ticks me off is THEY were the ones who recommended I have this work performed. I wanted to give them more business and referrals to my friends. As a result of ignoring me, I will never call these clowns again.
