Company Overview

Since 1966, Sullivan Plumbing has been delivering expert services to residences in Whatcom County. We focus on every facet of residential plumbing. The clean and dependable plumber you can rely on!

A proud local business serving Whatcom County since 1966.

After his time in the Coast Guard in the mid-1990s, Don started his plumbing career. After years of plumbing work in the Seattle region, Don relocated to Bellingham. He joined his brother’s Mr. Rooter franchise before transitioning to a new role as Parts Manager at Northland Diesel Service.

Service plumbing was in his DNA, and Don returned to the field with Sullivan Plumbing. Following another twelve years of helping customers throughout Whatcom County, Don stepped into the role of General Manager at Sullivan Plumbing.

In 2016, after nine years, he bought Sullivan Plumbing, turning a long-held dream into reality through hard work.

The service to replace my water pump and plumbing was lousy and I was way overcharged. The actual work itself was good. I will not be using this outfit again.

Sullivan was the only plumbing service to answer our call this weekend when an emergency hit.
Scott was prompt, communicative, traveled through adverse conditions, and resolved the problem quickly, then presented a bill that was a fraction of their quote.

I am so absolutely impressed with Sullivan plumbing and especially the amazing knowledgable owner Don. He saved me on a weekend with an emergency plumbing problem 2 days before renters moved in. I could not believe the unbelievable reasonable price for a back up and root removal from my sewer pipes. He went the extra mile to get to the bottom of the issue and why it happened. Also calling the city to do their part as well as having a solution to what I need to have done to prevent future issues. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a good plumber. His 35 years of experience is obvious to his expertise and how he dealt with the entire situation. His friendly personality was just another added bonus. What a great team he and his wife Tracy are! I finally found a great plumber. Thank you so much!

Our hot water heater sprung a major leak on a Friday. I called around for plumbers and Sullivan quickly got an estimator onsite. They gave us a competitive bid that I price-checked with two other companies. The estimator, Don, went the extra mile during the estimation to help us drain the tank and re-route our recirc pump to ensure we would have properly functioning cold water over the weekend. They did a professional job with the install itself. The install included a small retrofit of the existing vent piping, which did not have the correct slope. A couple of days later we noticed a small leak where the new vent piping tied into the old piping. Perhaps this should have been handled in the initial install, but it was a tricky area to be fair. Sullivan promptly came back and fixed that up as well. They were professional, courteous, and on the ball throughout the process.

Loved that they showed up in a mask. They were able to tackle a complicated issue for me. I'm so glad that they were able to provide solutions without hassling me every step of the way. They may be a bit expensive but they know what they are doing. I will use them again.

The company assured us their technicians wore masks. Our plumber removed his after we left the basement. Be sure to make your expectations clear before the technician begins work. We now know that the aerosols that spread COVID 19 hang in the air like smoke, and poorly ventilated indoor spaces are risky for spread of the disease. We are both over 60 with underlying conditions. He put our health at risk. He did put the mask on after I spoke to him about it, but by then he had already been working in the basement for over an hour.

Please be aware that this company has changed hands and is no longer reputable as it used to be. They did some drain line camera work for me and charged over $400 for 1.5 hours of work. if you agree to use these rip off artists, make sure you get a written bid for the job before allowing them to do any work. They have no problem with going back on what they promise and then gouging you.

I hired Sullivan to repipe an old double wide mobile home I own. I feel like I've been duped. My bid literally says ""Bid to replace all water lines including all primary and secondary lines on both hot and cold sides and all the fixtures, excluding shower valve, as discussed."" I honestly thought Sullivan would be putting in new shower heads and faucets and taking out all the old pipe. That didn't happen. Some old pipe is corroded to fixtures and that pipe and fixtures weren't touched. New faucets and shower heads and things that I consider ""fixtures"" were not included. The only faucet that was replaced was one I paid extra for. Yes, I complained and asked to pay less. In return I got to talk with an angry defensive plumber who insisted he did everything he was supposed to do. Trying to remove the corroded pipe would have caused more problems. I ended up accepting $400 off my bill which covered the labor of the new faucet put in at my request. I feel a little bad about posting a negative review after accepting this meager offer, but I want people considering Sullivan to know the word ""fixtures"" is weird lingo for internal parts to them. ""Fixtures"" are not the hardware you might reasonably expect.

We had a pipe break on a Saturday evening. They saved us so much worry! We had a large funeral the next day and they were friendly, prompt and more than reasonable. Thank you so much!

I was quoted l$39.99 for call out and added to work order. I had a simple hookup under bathroom vanity sink. Parts cost $15 or less, and they were there 15 minutes or less. Charged $238.00. Absolutely will never use them again, and will tell everyone I know not to either. Ridiculous!!! They were 10 miles away also. RIP OFF company.
Very dissappointed. Karen N
