Rachel T.I like this place. It's a little cramped (typical NY) but still orderly and we'll organized. They do seem to have what I need when I go in. Staff are always quick to help, too, and friendly.
Adrienne B.Always a great environment in the store. The employees are always extremely kind, helpful, and knowledgeable and if they don't know they will help you figure it out!!! The store is clean and well organized, good prices. I've never had any complaint and I am a frequent customer to the store!! I will walk out of my way to visit this hardware store!
Luis R.Came in and purchased two items great service nothing out of the norm. Came back in the next day and wanted to return the items, the clerk tells me sure it will be store credit... ah dumb look on my face I ask why? He says it's store policy... so I say ok here are the two items and I walked away he stops me and says wait it's a credit you can use anytime. I said it looks like you guys could use the money more than me and walked away. I suggest they should invest in a sign that states the company policy so customers don't get missed led. So I won't be coming back to this place since I wouldn't had spend any money in a place that can't put customer first.
I can't give these guys enough praise! I love them! It is the epitome of a neighborhood hardware store, with kind helpful people. They always take their time to see what you might need, are great with suggestions, have helped me with a delivery when it's too much to carry, and even done some ""McGiver-ing"" for me, when I couldn't figure out how to make something work. Really love them! This is a place to support! I'm a long term resident, and these guys reflect what makes this neighborhood so special.
Sue S.Sugar Hill Hardware is a nice little neighborhood shop. It's not big but covers the basics just fine. I stopped by one morning to have a key cut. I had barely stepped inside when a gentleman asked me how he could help me. I told him I needed a key cut. He looked at it, told me it would be $4, I said fine. He cut the key in like three seconds, and it was a perfect match. They even had the identical blank. I paid and was on my way in seconds. A plus.
I went in to Sugar Hill Hardware looking for a simple part to go on the end of my kitchen sink faucet, after removing an old water filter. Luckily, I was able to take part of the filter to the store to show them exactly what I was looking for. (I still don't know the name of it, but it seems that most places only sell a valve separately.
After looking diligently and asking a coworker to help him, the man who assisted me finally found the part. This diligence was especially impressive since they were fairly busy at the time. I am more used to getting answers like ""Oh, we don't have it, sorry"" when searching for small parts that tend not to be sold separately, so I was happily surprised that they were able to find this part. The man assisting me even asked the woman at the cash register to wrap it so that the pieces would not come apart. (I'm glad, because I likely would not have noticed the small loose filter and rubber washer inside.) And while I have no idea what the part is worth on it's own, I did not mind at all spending 3.26 to keep the faucet from spraying everywhere. The woman also accepted my card with no problem. I would have been happy to buy something extra to meet a minimum but was happier that I didn't have to.
Really pleased with the service here and will definitely keep this place in mind for future repairs, etc. Thanks for your help, it works perfectly!
Alba U.Our go to hardware store in the neighborhood for years. Well organized, with a good selection, and helpful people to provide counsel about various household tasks.
Michael W.Sugar Hill Hardware is a local hardware store that seems very well grounded in the community. Their store can be a little hard to navigate, but fortunately that isn't a problem since the staff here will greet you at the door with enthusiasm and eagerly assist you in whatever you need.
Their prices are nothing to shake a stick at, either, since they are affordable and have a good selection of items to meet your needs.
These are the kinds of businesses we should be supporting here in NYC; places that still serve the customer as a whole-picture and not just sit behind the counter yelling ""next!""
Oneil K.Whenever I'm in the neighborhood doing a job, if I'm short on material this is one of the hardware store that almost certainly have what I'm looking for.
Georgia W.absolutely love going here. moved into the neighborhood two months ago and have frequented this great little community hardware store for all my household needs. all staff members are incredibly nice and helpful. it's the kind of place i like to go when i'm feeling down about the way new yorkers treat each other on the street.
