Since its inception in 1980, Suburban Services Group has grown to provide a variety of home services and HVAC in Saratoga Springs, NY, and the neighboring locales. Over four decades of delivering heating and cooling services, our team has expanded to nearly 20 professionals, covering 14 counties in Upstate New York and beyond.
In 1980, Suburban Services Group (SSG) was established as a Home Improvement Company. The company soon transitioned to specialize in Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning, adding Radon Mitigation Systems and, in 2004, Generac Automatic Standby Generators.
As we have grown in the past 34+ years, our team continues to prioritize fair, professional, and honest service for the 50,000 customers we've interacted with. We maintain a balance of being small enough to care for each customer and large enough to offer services that outshine many of our bigger competitors.
With 24/7 phone support and a solid infrastructure for Sales, Installations, and 24/7 Service, SSG is your trusted source for all mechanical services that need to operate at their best!
Since 1980, we have been dedicated to residential Plumbing, Heating, Air-Conditioning, Heat Pumps, Generac Automatic Standby Generators, and the installation and maintenance of Radon Mitigation Systems. Had an oil leak in my Generac whole house generator.
Not having time to repair it myself I called Suburban, a service repairman came out and started telling me the installation wasn't correct and didn't meet some standards. ( My generator was installed by a Generac dealer years ago that business owner retired)
The Suburban repairman wrote me a bill for $170 bucks.
I asked did you find the source of the generator oil leak?
Dude said No, the generator has to meet our installation requirements before we diagnose your oil leak.
So lucky me I spent the day waiting around and paying for a lazy Suburban repairman. When I finally found the time to diagnose the problem myself, it was a leaky oil sending unit a $30 part ordered on amazon. Do yourself a huge favor and run from this company. You'll thank me later...
Peter M.Quality work, honest salespeople, and equally reliable service are several of the reasons why I call on Suburban to solve all of my HVAC and plumbing issues. Whether they were replacing my hot water heater, aged air conditioning unit or troubleshooting and fixing a leak, their sales staff and technicians have always provided excellent sales, service, and repairs. For example, when I was recently in the market for both a new a air conditioning unit and a hot water heater, their salesman sat down and discussed various options and steered me to new technologies that have significantly cut my fuel bill. That's the sort of reliability that's kept me returning to Suburban for nearly 30 years.
Frank and Matt installed my new Generac auxiliary generator two days ago. They were professional, courteous, hard working, neat and polite. The installation went smoothly and the result was excellent.
Installing the mobile app was easy after the instructions from Frank. We have been Suburban customers for more than a decade. This recent experience reaffirms why we are loyal customers.
James M.We had our AC unit die recently and knowing our furnace was next we decided to replace our whole system. Nick was fast to respond and give us our options and worked with us to get the best system to fit our needs. Frank and Kenny arrived a few days later to get the work done. They were professional neat and worked hard to get our job done. Can't say enough good things about the whole team at suburban services. Wish I had two more hands so I could give them 4 thumbs up!
Extremely delightful, upfront, and delivered everything we discussed. Salesman was spot on. Delivery and installation team were dedicated, educated and very fastidious in their performance. Anyone looking for a whole house standby generator should look no farther than here!!!!!
Maggie M.In June 2021, called Suburban and asked for an estimate to replace a gas heating system. I previously had Suburban install 2 gas hot water heaters in the past year. A senior estimator came out and I showed him I wanted to replace the furnace as well as the sheet metal above the furnace. He took pictures, made measurements and drew up a proposal. With everything it would be $6100. A bit more than I expected but I accepted and installation was scheduled for 6 weeks later. Aug.3,2021 technicians came to install the furnace. Unfortunately I was not able to be there, only my wife and daughter were there. The system was installed. A week later my daughter called and said the panel was coming away from the bottom of the furnace. I went over to take a look. To my utter disappointment I saw the furnace but with the same old sheet metal on top of it. This sheet metal has patches and some holes in it. For 3 days I tried to talk to someone from the company. I left emails and phone messages. Nothing. Nobody had the decency to talk to me. I am not healthy enough to want to continue being ignored by them . I will have someone else replace the sheet metal. I will never use Suburban again or ever recommend them. If you have to use this company make sure you get what you pay for.
Stephen B.These guys are always here for me. For years, no matter the issue, Craig and his crew have been there, been fair, and have remained committed to personal service.
Not often to you receive a 3 paragraph email from the owner of a company written with care, empathy and professionalism.
Thanks Craig! Thanks Suburban.
We have a slightly exotic high-efficiency (and high-maintenance) boiler installed by another company no longer in the area. When problems have come up, the Suburban technicians have always been smart and persistent. Prices seem fair. I recommend them!
Shirley S.Good response time, but prices are outrageous. Very difficult to get itemized bill and understand invoice. We will not use them again.
In August of 2016 my dad bought a generator from the stated company. Suburban Energy Svcs. He also bought a and extra service contract for several hundred dollars. Today, less than a year later, for personal reasons he has to move to a place where generators are not allowed. He went to the so called company and asked to have it disconnected. they said it was 129.00 service call and then two hours of labor. Approximately 350.00 dollars cause it would take 2 hours to be done. The two men showed up today and disconnected it it less than an hour, charged him over 400.00. To unhook from box and gas hose. They did give him a 15% discount for being a veteran. Total paid 386.53. When i called the so called business a man answered and said 110. an hour is there rate, a manager would call back. Rob, the manager did and told me the rate depends, so clearly thy make it up as they go. I explained that they were done in an hour and you said it would take two hours, he said its per man. So you sent two men to disconnect two things. I am getting no where and decide to call the owner Craig McDonald, i ask for him to call me back. I just got a call back not from the owner but the manager Rob, stating that the owner was satisfied with the outcome. Then i ask about the service contract, clearly it should be given back, not there policy. So my elderly father has to move along with continuing to pay for the generator which he no longer needs, and a service contract which they sold him, not refundable for a generator that is still under a years warranty. They should be ashamed. Buyers please beware of this company.
