I highly recommend Art's plumbing for ALL your plumbing needs! This is a family run business owned by Art Cota with his son, Adrian, and crew. Art's Plumbing was recommended to me by Paul Davis during an very difficult time with mold remediation and reconstruction in the middle of winter. Art did extensive and outstanding work for me then and over a period of months.
(1) He replaced an old Slant Fin boiler and hot water heater with a Navien tankless combo system and water circulation pump for on-demand hot water at all faucets.
(2) He installed a top rated descaler unit for the Navien unit.
(3) He replaced the piping, drains, and the shower fixture in the bathroom.
(4) He installed new hot water heater baseboards in three rooms through tile and wood.
(5) He removed my 73 year old cast iron sewer system under the house as well as the old clay sewer system outside house after a backup that caused 2 leaks in the cast iron under the house and tree roots outside in all clay piping. He disposed of old piping.
(6) He removed and replaced old corroded gas line pipes throughout the house and disposed of old pipe.
(7) He secured proper permits and worked with the county and inspectors and line locators throughout these projects.
(8) He replaced an old toilet with a new one and installed a hand-operated bidet on it.
(9) He put the dishwasher and washer back on line and repaired a bad leak in the washer line.
(10) He installed crawlspace vent fans for me to keep the area dry.
It has been a real pleasure working with Art, Adrian, and crew. They are very professional, very hard working, courteous, friendly, communicative, extremely knowledgeable (and able to come up with innovative solutions to some difficult problems). They are exceptional people to be relied on and trusted. They always made a great effort before work and after to keep all areas clean. When they say they'll be at your house, they will be! Top Notch company! Top Notch people!

Something has definitely changed here. Samon's was my go to store for decades. But now, they're out or no longer carry all the things I used to get here on a regular basis. What used to be a premium looking store now looks like a poor man's Harbor Freight. I doubt they'll last another year. Two tops. Sad but that's the truth.

I don't know if the management In the past decade but this store has changed. Every time I go there for anything, they don't have it AND they seem to be offended that I asked for something. I've really tried to support local, but I think I will no longer go here. A shame because there's nothing local and small.

I went to Samons on Juan Tabo for parts to get my Moms swamp cooler up and running.I bought a fitting that connects the water supply from the faucet to the swamper and bought a new float. After 2 days of trying to adjust the middle priced float,it broke. The fitting began leaking after replacing the float and turning the water back on despite the thread tape used and carefully tightening the fitting in place.
Samons has now been added to my list of places I will NEVER do business with again. They must get their products in China..............

Well I've tried for the last time to support local! I went into get some help with a faucet stood around couldn't get help. Finally I went to front the there were 4 gentlemen and one woman stood there for a good 3 min got ignored then asked a younger guy for help he didn't have any idea how to help anybody.. Sooooooo. The nice older gentleman got me and helped me fine he left I stood in line for to check out ok yes finally I can get out of here BUT nope the older guy forgot to tell me I had to get a paper from him then get into line soooooooo off to him he isn't the quickest with CPU's to get me my very important paper so they can get his comish then back into line for a week or so the nice lady at check out got me out of there in about 30 min after the great paper. Well yelpers I guess I'll goto Lowe's or Home Depot no mas local

I purchased a swamp cooler motor from Samon's in Bosque Farms, NM last week. I am 65 years old and have been dealing with set-up/winterize of these units, for myself and other, older retired neighbors for decades. I humbly say that I have been dealing with ""Swamp Thing"" longer than the sales people and managers have been alive! I know what to do and what not to do as regards motors, and all other components.
The motor I purchased last week, after I installed it, made a squealing noise and a light grinding noise, as if one of the ""permanently lubricated"" bearings, well, wasn't. Even my son, on a visit last night, asked ""what's that noise""?
I called the store and asked at what point I should bring it in for a refund replacement - now, or when it burned up and blew a fuse, for a refund/replacement. The sales person said that neither refund nor replacement was available, but that they could test it for me. I didn't need somebody to tell me ""Yep, it's bad, but there's nothing we can do for you."" I asked to speak to the manager who would not give me his name, but kept asking ""How may I help you""? My response was ""Well, first of all you can help me by giving me your name."" After a few of those exchanges, he hung up on me.
I called Samon's in Albuquerque on Menaul and spoke to the manager, Ernest. He was professional, and his willingness to help was excellent. He told me the motors have a one-year warranty provided there is no evidence that I did anything wrong - water damage, pulley on wrong, belt too tight, etc., which are all valid reasons not to warranty the motor. I assured him that all was OK in those areas. I told him of my experience with the manager at the Bosque Farms store. He told me that I could bring the motor and receipt to his store and he would exchange the motor. He gave me the name of the manager-level supervisor, Larry.
I called Larry and told him of my bad experience with the people at the Bosque Farms store and my excellent experience at the Menaul store. He was shocked at the treatment I received and my local store. He said he would be making a phone call to the manager of that store, gave me his name, Kevin, and told me I could take the motor back for an exchange this afternoon. Larry was very professional. I will be taking the motor back under the understanding that it will be replaced, per Larry's instructions to Kevin. Larry also told me that if I had any problems while at the store I should not hesitate to call him from the store.
Sad, isn't it, that I have to go through this. I am 100% disabled, and climbing up and down the ladder, back and forth across the roof, to deal with a defective motor (no fault of Samon's). But to be lied to about the return policy, talking with a manager too cowardly to reveal his identity, and to be hung up on is a bit much. I have three other stores in my area that sell this product. I will, however, factor in Ernest's and Larry's excellent cooperation as to whether I will ever set foot in my local Samon's again. I like to spend my money with locally-owner businesses, but I do have my limits. We'll see how my visit to Samon's goes this afternoon when I return with my defective motor. My first question to Kevin will be whether he had a chat with Larry about the many issues involved here.

Samon's is a family-owned, New Mexico-based, do-it-yourself hardware, plumbing, and electric store.
When I went inside, I was immediately greeted by Namida (very kind and a warm smile) who asked if she could help. I told her what I was looking for and she sent me to Jay. Jay took me to the portable swamp coolers and explained the differences between them. He and Michael (who I believe was the manager) patiently and expertly answered all of my questions and gave me very good advice about the item I was purchasing. As a person who doesn't know much about appliances, plumbing, etc. I would feel very comfortable coming back here. I didn't feel like I was bothering them with my questions. I felt that my business there was important to them and they care about their customers.
Samon's doesn't really do anything with gardening or yard work. They have sprinkler heads for sprinkler systems and things like that so head to Home Depot or Lowe's if that's what you're looking for.
As I was leaving, I was taking a picture outside and was stopped by one of the patrons, Austin, who asked what I was doing. I told him I'd never been there before and was going to do a review about it. He said, ""Oh, these guys are good. Really knowledgeable and helpful. I've been coming here for 30 years. It's great because since they are only in New Mexico, they really know about things specific to New Mexico."" That's exactly how I felt about this store also and something that's different than the bigger stores that are nation-wide.
Another important thing to point out is that the store isn't huge and overwhelming or swarming with customers so there was an employee always in view if I needed help. That is something hard to find in the bigger name hardware stores. This Samon's has a very personal and ""mom and pop"" type feel. I'll be coming here more often for sure!

I went to Samon's on Juan Tabo and Lomas to purchase some parts needed to install an exterior filter on a refrigerator I had purchased else where.
Upon taking my items to the register, I handed the person behind the counter my debit card. He ran it through their machine and informed my card had been declined.
He stated it's probably not your card but our machine, it sometimes doesn't accept certain cards. He asked if he could run the card again. Once again it came back that the card had been declined. I ended up paying cash for my items. I put the card in my wallet and left. I hadn't used my card before going there or since trying to make the purchase. I phoned my bank and they informed me there was no problem with my card and that I had a large amount of money in my account. Two days later the bank contacted me to inform me that there had been a very large amount of questionable purchases made on my card., and asked me to verify if I had made any of these purchases. None of the 19 purchases were any I had authorized. Luckily I had the card canceled and the bank has helped me in getting my money put back into my account. Apparently Samon's credit card machine has been hacked and someone is gaining access to other peoples accounts. I highly suggest avoiding using a credit card or debit card of any kind at this store! Interesting fact about the charges made that most of them were for or to Plumbing related places. Avoiding going to this place ever again!!

Great customer service and prices are cheaper then the big box stores

David is one of the best plumbers in Taos. He's reliable, works with competent helpers, and gets the job done promptly. He's a go-to supplier for my house and a couple of condos in town. I've used him for years.
