Recommended Customer Reviews

I Contacted Strand after frustration with last HVAC company (overcharging, questionable ethics, improper repairs). From the initial call with Aubrey to my encounter with Peter and Adam at my home, I have been immensely impressed with their knowledge, professionalism, abilities (they fixed my AC problem) to offering several options to replace our old and limping along HVAC unit.
We sometimes don't want to give the guys that have been around a long time a chance thinking they'll be too expensive or they are so old and big they don't have to try as hard as the newer guy. Definitely not the case with Strand. I highly recommend!

We were taken to the cleaners with Strand Brothers. They came in for a water heater treatment check and stated that the pressure valve needed to be replaced. Said it was a huge fine from the city if it was not done and we were caught (that was a lie, I called the Utility Dept). Also needed to install an emergency shut off valve to turn off water to the house. Wanted 1800 to do the repairs. A neighbor saw their trucks and directed me to call Sweet Water Mechanical. His quote for the same work was $675. Unfortunately, we couldn't stop them in time and they completed the work. Never use these guys. They will never step foot back in my home again.

Not very amused one so bit after they stepped foot in our house. My wife called these people, so they came out Monday. Did the tge intimidation factor on our unit and made a snotty comment about me. Guess what I heard and saw on my ring. Get home on Tuesday it's out again. Came back out oh its another thing. Well, Wensday last night out again. So I put a fuse in and went back to working this morning Thursday the fuse is blown and still out. All I ask for is to get this thing fixed the first damn time. I come home from a long day in the heat and want to relax not this bs stuff

Waited around FOUR HOURS (window of time) NO SHOW! NO CALL!
FOUR HOURS!!!! What a waste of time!
40 minutes past the 4 hour window I called the number provided and the customer service person "sweetly said" I will go ahead and cancel the appointment for you. I proceeded to ask the reason for the delay or no show and she again "sweetly said" our technician is running behind. ANOTHER window of time was offered between 2 and 4 - hahahahaha NO THANK YOU NOT waiting around ANOTHER 4 hours!! Good grief.
First time using them = LAST TIME

All the negative reviews in this site just about sum up our experience with Strand Bros. We have used them previously (and spent a lot of money) and felt we were taken advantage of then, but nothing like most recently.
They did not show up on time or call. They talked down to my wife assuming she did not know anything. Did their "service" call and then proceeded to propose tremendous upsell repairs or replacements (our A/C) works fine. Stated that they found a gas leak in one of our upstairs units, showed barely, if any, bubbling from the solution and stated that all it needed was probably a wrench tightening up the connection. When my wife asked the repair tech to tighten it up, he stated that he would do it but charge her $81 repair visit (on top of the service visit we were already paying for). She asked again if it just took a couple turns of the wrench and he was standing right there why would it cost $81 more. He just said that was the way it was and we could turn off the gas and do it ourselves if we wanted. He turned off the gas valve and left the house.
I have felt taken advantage of in the past from them and feel that their customer service and customer retention is the least of their concerns.
Now we are left trying to figure out if we can turn the gas back on (don't need it since it is hot outside) and will the pilot light auto on. My wife called them to ask about turning back on the gas and pilot light and the Strand operator cut her off short and said she would relay the message to management and they would call her back. That was over a week ago!
I have NEVER written a negative review of any business regardless of my dissatisfaction. I own a company myself and understand there are two sides to every story. But this is a first and sincere testimonial that Strand Bros (and the also own Strand AC) will never be used for our HAVC system again. And these negative reviews should not be taken lightly or disregarded. Do not do business with them.

Ah, Strand Brothers, my trusty heating and cooling service provider for the past 16 months. You know, up until this year, I thought they were just fine. They inspected both my AC and heater units with ease, no problems whatsoever. Then, they informed me that my subscription only covers one unit, leaving me to ponder whether my second unit was just ignored for the entirety of my subscription. I mean, who needs two functional units, right?
But that's not all. During the first appointment of 2023, they decided to bring an extra employee along to document all the suggested repairs, which was definitely not suspicious at all. They then proceeded to identify $3,200 in repairs, kindly discounted to $2,500 since I am a member, including a UV kit and blue tube because of supposed mold growth, even though my system was in great shape just two months prior, according to them. I was so grateful for their keen observation skills. Amazing how breaks this badly in two short months. Of course, I got 2 other companies to come out and inspect my system. NONE OF THEM FOUND ANY ISSUES, and in fact, they told me that half of my system already has an anti-microbial lining that would prevent mold, and the other half looks super clean and raises no concerns. I also had it swabbed for mold. NONE FOUND. Big surprise, huh? Reading through the latest reviews sounds like it's a recurring issue in 2023.
And when I scheduled appointments for both heater/AC and water heater services on the same day, not once did a water heater technician show up. Silly me for thinking that a company that offers water heater services would actually send someone out to fulfill that part of the subscription.
So, I reached out to cancel my subscription and request a refund for the water heater portion of my subscription fees. They promised me that my subscription would be canceled, and their finance team would confirm my refund the next day. It's now been two days, and I haven't heard a peep from them. It's almost like they don't care about customer service or following Auto-Renewal Law.
But, hey, who needs a functioning water heater anyway, right Strand Brothers? I'm just glad I paid for a subscription that only covers half of my units and got to enjoy their impressive observation skills. So, if you're looking for questionable business practices and a lack of service fulfillment, Strand Brothers is the company for you.
STAY AWAY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SCAMMED.

I have been a customer through 2 houses with Strand (back when the original brothers actually came to my house). It has been 18 years! Strand Brothers has a new policy where they send salespeople with techs to your house and spend that time trying to sell you upgrades and new systems, etc., which I did not ask for nor have time for. Nevertheless, while the tech was working on the repair, the salesperson was going throughout my house and looking at all my systems. In the process, they cut large squares in 3 of my AC units to show me what the inside looks like! I asked them if they were going to patch those up and they said of course. Turns out, they did not patch even one of the holes they cut without my permission (guess if I didn't have someone else look at it, I would be needing to replace all those AC units much sooner due to the holes they left in them). I will be terminating my maintenance plan and finding a new company to do business with. Completely unacceptable and all to try to push sales.

Have been using Strand for years with great service, but the last two visits have been awful. The first, they charged me $475 for a "helper" to crawl under our house to cut and cap a PVC pipe. Took less than 10 minutes. I called and they knocked $300 off. The second visit, they charged me $1,100 to replace 2 UV bulbs. I was told it would be $350 each and I agreed. Most notably, the technician signed my name on the bill. I did not know the price till I read my email hours later. I have called Strand five (5) times over last 2 weeks to talk to someone. All 5 times I was told there would be a call back. Never was called.
The company used to be good - not sure what happened, but I will find someone else.

DO NOT USE STRAND BROTHERS
We noticed our A/C took longer than usual to reach our set temperature so we decided to get a tune-up, expecting to need coolant added, before summer. My husband saw the high rating on Google and the $79 tune up. They were available to come out the next day.
They were supposed to call my husband prior to arriving. They did not. When I answered the door, Efrain and Gustavo informed me a third gentleman would be arriving shortly. They immediately turned both my thermostats down 10 degrees, looked at the indoor portion briefly, and went outside for 10-15 minutes.
When they knocked on my door again, a third guy in business casual (Melvin? Marvin?) was with them... they then inform me I have "zero coolant" left due to a leak, which "must be in the coils." They quickly inform me the coil will cost $2500 to replace and I will need 10 lbs of coolant at $150/lb. Efrain then tells me my capacitor is "only working at 45%" and will also need to be replaced. And with that... my compressor is "old and weak" and needs to be replaced too for another $1500. They mansplain basic algebra to me and tell me the total will be over $5000, but because my unit is "13 years old" it should just be replaced. (My house was built in late 2011, so the unit isn't quite a moody teen just yet.)
The suited up fella then proceeds to explain to me their "Advantage Plan" where I can pay $240 to $350 (depending on the model) every month in perpetuity to lease a new unit from them. You're on the hook for at least 10 years. I asked how much the top of the line model was and they said it's around $15,500. I asked them to help me understand how the Advantage Plan was an advantage to anyone but them when you end up paying over $42K for a $15K unit... They told me it's because the labor is always free and they will change my air filters. HA! In the 30 minutes they were there, the temp in my house dropped six degrees. I asked how the temp could drop if there was "zero coolant." Efrain then proceeds to tell me, "I know some of these things are probably hard for you to understand..." Efrain tells me my unit is going to "burn up" because it is like "driving a car with no oil." Yeah, not exactly. It will not burn up. It may turn off and cease working, but it will not overheat and catch fire. Additionally, a capacitor either works or it does not... there's not really an in-between, but thanks for playing. Then the suit proceeds to say "isn't there someone else who should be making these big financial decisions?" How DARE they assume I am an ignorant female who needs someone else to sign checks for me?!
These are misogynistic scammers. I immediately called for a second opinion while they were "writing a quote" and was told they were taking me for a ride, which I already knew. My husband arrived home and they could not answer any of his questions without stammering and contradicting themselves. I have never been treated like such an ignorant damsel in distress in my entire life. 0/10 recommend. No stars. Avoid at all costs.
Oh! Speaking of costs... they charged us $99 instead of the advertised $79 because the $79 "only applies to units in working order." IT STILL WORKS! Get out of my house.

One star because zero isn't an option...
