Mr. Stokes established Stokes Mechanical Contractor, Inc. in 1963 due to a shortage of professional, quality plumbing companies in the area. Based in the heart of Lake Worth, our office and fabrication shop remains under the guidance of Susan, his daughter.

Our company grew its presence across South Florida, gaining recognition as a leader for building condominiums, healthcare and research facilities, public and educational structures, as well as private commercial properties. While Stokes grew in building, the need for a dedicated service division became apparent. Initially beginning with the maintenance of our own constructions, Stokes Mechanical's service department developed exponentially. Following the addition of General Plumbing in June 2013, it has become a more significant player in South Florida.

During 1995, Mr. Stokes transferred control to his daughter, Susan, who had been part of the team at the company since 1983. Starting out as a receptionist, she advanced her career to the bookkeeper, lead estimator, Vice President, and currently President/CEO. She earned a state license for air conditioning back in 1989 as well as her plumbing license in 1992, making her the first the only female mechanical contractor in the county. Susan has received several honors for her success as a leader of a woman-owned business while also having served as a member of the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board from 1997 to 2002.
