E.C. ""Sonny"" Stokes established Stokes Mechanical Contractor, Inc. back in 1963 in response to the lack of skilled plumbing contractors in the area. Based in the heart of Lake Worth, our office and fabrication shop remains with the guidance of Susan, his daughter.

Our company grew our footprint in South Florida, establishing itself as a prominent name for building multi-family housing, healthcare and research facilities, government facilities, and private commercial complexes. While Stokes increased our operations in construction, the necessity of a service branch was clear. Initially beginning with the maintenance of the properties we built, our HVAC and plumbing service division developed rapidly. Following the establishment of our General Plumbing division as a division of Stokes, we have established ourselves as a more significant player in South Florida.

In 1995, Sonny passed the leadership to his daughter, Susan, who had been with the company at the company since 1983. Beginning her career as a receptionist, Susan advanced her career to the bookkeeper, chief estimator, Vice President, and today is the President and CEO. She obtained the state air conditioning license in 1989 and her plumbing license in 1992, becoming the first female mechanical contractor in the county. She has received several honors for her accomplishments as a prominent female business owner while also having served on the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board between 1997 and 2002.
