Sonny Stokes established Stokes Mechanical in 1963 due to a shortage of reliable plumbing services in our community. Based in the heart of Lake Worth, our headquarters and workshop is still active led by the direction of Sonny's daughter, Susan.

Our company grew our footprint throughout South Florida, establishing itself as a well-known entity in developing condominiums, medical and research buildings, government facilities, and private commercial complexes. As we expanded in the construction industry, the necessity of a service department emerged. Initially beginning with the maintenance of our own constructions, Stokes Mechanical's HVAC and plumbing service division has grown significantly. Following the establishment of the General Plumbing branch to Stokes in June of 2013, it has become a stronger presence in the South Florida area.

In the year 1995, Sonny transferred control to his daughter Susan, who had been part of the team since 1983. Initially working as the receptionist, Susan progressed through the ranks to the bookkeeper, chief estimator, Vice President, and now serves as President and CEO. She obtained a state license for air conditioning in 1989 as well as the plumbing license two years later, becoming the first female mechanical contractor in Palm Beach. Susan garnered many accolades for her achievements as a leader of a woman-owned business while also having served on the State of Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board for five years from 1997 to 2002.
