Had been thinking about having a repipe of any remaining galvanized water inlet pipes and all cast iron outgoing waste pipes in our basement for a few years on a 1956 house. Sought and received 5 estimates, knowing that this is the type of job that many plumbers will quote high because of the nature of the job (dirtier than other plumbing in-house jobs like water heaters, faucets, appliances, etc.). Peter with Steve's Plumbing came out to see what we needed done, and provided an estimate by email the next day. Of the 5 estimates theirs was not only the lowest quote but it was also in line with what we were expecting it to cost and what we were willing to pay to move ahead with the work. We could also tell just from the interaction with Peter that the company seemed to be a company of integrity.
This was a large job that took 9.5 hours, but Peter got it done in one day with 2-3 hours of assistance from a second person during the removal process due to heavy weight cast iron pipes. We would recommend Steve's Plumbing in Wheaton, IL for plumbing needs.
