5 April 2017, 1300 HST My tenant called me to say the toilet in the master bathroom was running. She called Steve's Plumbing and requested a service call. That's $39. After the diagnostic, it was found that the gasket inside the toilet needed replacement. The price for the part is not listed on the invoice, just the total amount. Neither listed, was the amount of time it took to replace said gasket. The total price was $320.83!!! So, hypothetically speaking, deducting the $39 for the diagnostic, less taxes and over-estimating the price of the gasket was around $20, replacing said gasket cost $240! Also, hypothetically speaking, the job took an hour and a half - that breaks down to $160/hour, less parts, less tax, less diagnostic fee. Is that indicative of ""Maui's most trusted plumber""? They ""charge by the job and not the hour,"" per their website. If so, is a gasket change in a toilet job-priced at $260, including the price of the part? I refuse to acknowledge any ""star rating"", but I have to in order to post this. I'll let you decide if it's worth calling them or not 6 April 2017, 0930 HST Update: I was just called to take a survey on Steve's Plumbing's services. Told the woman on the phone my consternation on their pricing. She said someone would get back to me 6 April 2017, 1030 HST Update: Tenant called and said pricing somehow rolled in ""travel time"", and that they'd deduct $40 off the total price, which made a gasket fix, including diagnostics and parts, to be $260 and change (originally, bill was $308.00 pre-tax, $320.83 total). Is that still considered ""reasonable""? You decide. $260 - $20 (overestimation for gasket cost) - $39 diagnostic = $200 for a service call on a toilet gasket replacement. 7 April 2017, 1030 HST Update: Steve's Plumbing called. Apologized for the misunderstanding/miscalculation and indicated that they're refunding my tenant (and ergo, me) $142.71 for services rendered. They did right by their company motto... So, to recap: $320.83 (original cost) - $142.71 (refund) - $20 (or so for parts) - $39 (diagnostic) = $119.12, which breaks out to just about $79.41/hour for an hour and a half's work of plumbing. That's palatable; and, the fact that the tenant is no longer complaining about a running toilet, makes Steve's Plumbing a much more acceptable and reasonable plumbing service. Thank you, Steve's, for doing right by us.

Amazing services don't call Allen's plumbing this guys are very professional and the price is reasonable. They won a customer for life with the great service they provided in my house. I had a small leaking in the irrigation system and they came and fixed it in an hour. I deal with Deven the owner and he was extremely nice. I highly recommend his company

Called Steve's Plumbing out for after hours emergency service for water that wouldn't shut off. They were very responsive and the tech, Daniel, was very polite and helpful and was able to fix the issue in less than an hour. Emergency service is expensive, but when you need it, they are there for you.

Shop around before you call! We dug a hole and exposed all the pipes between the meter and the back flow preventer. Had all the dirt piled on a tarp and ready to go for a simple fix. The parts (3/4"" pvc pipe, 1 foot length, 1-T and 1-90 elbow) were under well $50. Their bid....$735, plus tax. Wow for an hour and 15 minutes worth of work, tops. That's @$400 an hour. Did they get a medical or law degree with their plumbing skills?? No thanks!

My wife was home alone whilst I was on a business trip and called Steves to repair a potential water main leak in our front yard. She was quoted $1000 as a standard charge for a water main repair. I was unavailable to ok as I was in transit on my way home. She pulled the trigger because she was so worried by what the plumber expressed to her. The plumber ended up working 3.5 hours, digging up some plants and repairing a mostly above ground 2.5' section of 3/4"" pvc with 2 couplers and an elbow and glue that was actually part of my irrigation system on a low pressure offshoot of my main. Upon completion, he asked for $1100 (approved by a manager), preferably in cash, payment on the fix. She was not comfortable with the price and he instantly lowered it to $1000. She paid with a credit card since we did not have the cash. Upon returning home, I looked at the fix, which left a ""not to code"" leaking coupler out of the work done. I still had to spend 2 more hours finishing the repair. And, the water main was not touched at all. After a week of calling Steve's daily, I was able to negotiate payment down to $650 through a secretary, but still feel very overcharged. A generous payment would have been $300 to $400. My biggest thought is what little old ladies and single mothers are these guys taking advantage of on a daily basis? I would avoid calling Steve's Plumbing. The one star is for their very nice office staff. The only plus in an otherwise bad situation.

Steves plumbing has been working on the house I live in for an entire week. We had a pipe leak and ended up flooding one entire apt. and water use for about an hour each day. It has been tough for everyone living here, however Mike and Tim have been here working extremely long days all week to get the situation fixed. They have been in and out of our living spaces all day every day and I barely notice them. They are quiet when possible, very polite, curious, and everything they do is well thought out. They either take their shoes off or cover the, every time the enter even if it's only for 45 seconds! I keep telling the, it is not necessary but they insist. When I'm home they knock and ask if they can come in, of course they don't need to ask but make sure it's ok first anyway. The work they are doing is great and we should be good to go by the end of the day which is exactly what they estimated a week ago. I can't say enough about these guys and their professionalism and will be recommending them to everyone in need of great plumbing service. Thank you Mike and Tim! Outstanding!

Top notch service. It all started with booking our service with Rachael. She was professional and very helpful in getting us the help we needed. Our plumber was Rob. Awesome experience. He was professional and experienced. He worked hard to solve our plumbing issue. He explained the problem and the solution we needed to solve it. Pricing options were quoted up front and didn't change even after it seemed things were more complex than we anticipated. Plumbing issues can cause havoc but dealing with the right company to fix them makes all the difference in the world, at least my world. Mahalos to a great team. I'm going to take a hot, well drained shower now!

I wish there was a zero star. He charged my over $30K to do a water line leak..... Did it incorrectly. County found out. Never pulled permits, water was leaking all over the place. The county Fined them. THEY HAD TO REDO THE JOB...... Six months later I get a mechanical lean from the excavator That they hired to do the job correctly the second time around. I guess they forgot to pay him. They are paying him after I called the office...They got caught again I guess. AND the poor excavator, they docked his pay $1000.....so he told me. What kind of person/company does business like this.

These guys are CROOKS. I scheduled an appointment and they called me the day of my appointment to reschedule- apparently my job was not a high priority. I had to reschedule for another day and then they never showed! My account was apparently ""credited"" $50 for the inconvenience, but then when someone finally did show, they told me that $50 credit couldn't be used towards the estimate visit...only actual service. Same story for the $100 voucher I bought from Mauiforless.net. - no where does it say it can only be used on actual service in the fine print. They wanted over $1500.00 to replace a pedestal sink...the guy told me the whole project would take 2 hours and the parts are less than $500 at Home Depot?! I'd say thats one heck of an hourly rate. I'm happy to pay for quality and timely service, but these guys are a TOTAL RIP OFF.
