I hired steves to diagnose a problem I was having with my tankless hot water heater. When they arrived they informed me that the tank I had been using wasn't worth repairing. I had a spare tank that I was going to use for another project, I asked the technician if it was worth putting it in. He informed me that it looked good but he couldn't guarantee it since it was their tank which was understandable. After about 3 hours they had the tank installed and informed me that it didn't work. I assumed since they had checked it out it would at least function. (It had only been used for 2 years prior). They gave me an estimate for $3,500 for a new tank from them to install. I was charged $860 altogether and still had no hot water, the only parts they supplied were small fittings and tape. I thought this was a ridiculous price considering the circumstances and called to complain. I immediately started to get the run around, I had to call 4 times just to get someone to call me back. When I finally, after several days got a call back it was from a very rude manager who made it clear from the beginning that he didn't want to hear anything I had to say. He told me that the tank they had put on had been discontinued, I mentioned that if the technician had given me this info (as he should have as a professional) I would not have had them install it. I tried to reason with him and hope for the best and after a couple of minutes the manager hung up on me. Very bad company, very unprofessional, total rip-off. I thought since they were a new company to the island I would give them a chance, my mistake. I would not recommend them to anyone.
Waited over week for an appointment, the morning of, they called to reschedule ; 4 days later, again the morning of, they called again to try to reschedule On top of that there is a charge just to come out I would have expected some kind of discount not only for the delay but having to rearranged my schedule Now I'm hoping they do show up and that I have read their reviews I canceled the appointment after tech failed to show up at scheduled time , I called the company and they attempted to reschedule again. I hung up and called Aloha Air
Richard M.I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before hiring these clowns. It's just as the others say, Steve's takes a hefty advance payment and then they delay, delay, delay, you spend days and weeks sitting at home waiting for the tech to show up, then they make up some story about why he couldn't show up and he's going to come next week instead. Our bathroom sink has not worked for a month now and we're fed up. I may have to take these people to small claims court to get the money back.
Had technicans out to service my air conditioner. Dont be fooled by their lower than average service fee. They make up for that with their extremely high quotes for service. To the point, They wanted 2,000.00 for a repair that DR. HVCA did for 300.00. So sad that they take such advantage of us in our time of need for some cool air. BEWARE!!!
Was quoted $1905 for a new garbage disposal & instal seriously outrages, you can buy one for under $200. Was charged a $50 fee for quote I am wondering if they have a nice little gig going coming out spending 5 mins giving an outrages quote then collecting $50, and never having to do a job Wow sounds like a profitable business model. Don't waist your time. Big Island
After receiving a large electrical bill, we traced the root of the source to our hot water timer head. So I called Steve's plumbing to replace the hot water timer for us. Based on our availability, they were only available two weeks out. I said that's fine. We can manage a manual turn on and off until they. After further investigating, we realized that we actually have a leak. That makes things more urgent, doesn't it! The customer service girl was empathetic about it but couldn't move our original appointment date up sooner. I said fine. We'll wait. The date of our appointment finally came, which was a Friday first thing. They called to tell us that the ""technician is running late from a previous job and need to reschedule to Monday."" I was fuming. I had spoken with the customer service girl maybe twice to thrice to confirm my appointment only to be told that they couldn't? I had a renter coming in that Sunday and it was unacceptable. So I kept my Monday rescheduling appointment with Steves but hoped on the phone right away and got PSI scheduled two weeks out. Not ideal but well see, Over the weekend, PSI managed to moved my appointment UP a week. Monday came and sure enough, Steve's called to let me know that ""their technician is delayed from a previous job and need to reschedule to NEXT WEEK MONDAY blah blah blah."" FUMING. I didn't care tho - i had PSI coming. So I complained about why I had to be rescheduled TWICE and once for a WHOLE WEEK but the Tuesday guy gets to keep their appointment. So I told Steve's - nope. Take me off your books. I'm going somewhere else. ""Are you sure"" ""are you sure"" ""are you sure"" yeah I'm f---n sure! You guys are UNRELIABLE and i have someone coming out this week. As i write this, PSI came, on time and on schedule, and are working diligently on my massive water leak issue. In fact, the OWNER came to see to the situation himself after i sent them pictures of our leak. Then I learned that since plumbers are so high in demand that they are in a position to pick and choose their jobs. I'll just leave that line there. And Steve's if you're wanting to reply to this and see how you can make things better. FIX YOUR SCHEDULING SYSTEM. It's unreliable. And you keep getting customer's hopes up that someone will fix their situation.
Gina D.We called a week ago and scheduled to have our main line to the cesspool redone with the new product they advertise on tv. They were initially responsive on our first call and we confirmed an appointment. The man on the phone said that the technician that would be coming out will asses the work and can complete the same day. They also said they would call prior to our appt to collect the service fee in advance which never happened. Glad it did not as we'd be fighting to get that money back. The day prior to our appt we called to confirm and we're assured of our appointment and the tech would be at our home between 12-3pm. At 1pm day of appt I called to confirm that they were still coming. The gal on the phone said yes that the tech was at another job and we were next up. And said he's be here by 3pm and will call when he's on his way. 50 minutes before 3pm we received a call that our appt had to be rescheduled as the tech was running late at the previous job and they wanted to reschedule for the following week. I said only if we can be the first appt of the day as we cannot wait all day only to get rescheduled again should the same thing happen. She said they can only give us a 1-5pm time Frame, so we passed. We are upset we had to wait a whole week, after confirming twice only to be rescheduled. Steve's plumbing needs to get their scheduling S@&! Together. We read the same negative reviews from others but thought we'd give them a chance, but never again. Time is too precious and if you are going to be in the business of plumbing which is always most time of urgent natures you have to follow through. Don't waste your time with Steve's plumbing call the other guys.
Michelle T.Looking at previous reviews, I completely understand. Today is the third time we waited for a plumber, but no one came. Each missed appointment, I had to call their main number. No one called me... and every time, I was told the same thing: the technician was held up at another job and let's reschedule. I understand issues can arise unexpectedly but this is unacceptable. Based on the lack of communication and the inability to keep a RESCHEDULED appointment, I would NOT recommend this company.
Darren D.I have had a backed up toilet for over a week now. I got rescheduled twice because their plumber got hung up on another job, and just got rescheduled for a third time this morning. I appreciate it sometimes other jobs don't go the way you expect, but this is ridiculous. I can't even say whether or not they are capable because they never made it to my place. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Beware! Steve's plumbing is flat out the biggest RIP off going in plumbing here in Hawaii. They claim to be honest and have reasonable pricing. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I received a 2300$ bill for 300$ in parts and 1 hour of labor. They would not give me an itemized bill and refused to return my calls to speak to me ever. I guess the reason they charge by the job is because they can't justify their exorbitant pricing on the jobs. Outrageous ! 2 pressure release valves, 3 shutoff valves, 3feet of copper pipe, and an hour labor. 2300 dollars! Please do yourself a favor and find a plumber that itemizes and gets paid by the hour. BEWARE
