Steve Basso Plumbing Heating & A/C
Company Overview
Since our inception in 1974, we have catered to the needs of homeowners and businesses. Each client is important to us, and we aim to foster relationships that last for decades.
Steve Basso established our company in 1974, and it has since transformed into a full-service contracting business. Throughout the years, we have broadened our service area to cover much of Fairfield and New Haven counties. After Steve Basso's retirement, ownership transitioned to his sons, Stephen and Scott Basso. We still operate out of Bridgeport, CT, dedicated to our original clients, their children, and new homeowners looking for trustworthy service.
My brother Steve and I are proud to be the second generation of owners in this business that our father, Steve Basso, established in 1974. I am a family man, married with two sons.
I enjoy the rewarding experience of helping our clients navigate emergencies and complete projects that beautify their homes and reduce expenses.

I called this morning (the day before a holiday) with a toilet that was leaking into my basement... the plumber arrived in a timely fashion, was polite, worked hard, explained the job before he started and reviewed with me afterwards. I am totally satisfied with today's experience.
James P.I can't agree with the bad reviews at all, or maybe the company has just gotten better, but I had some pretty unique projects for them to work on while I prep to sell my Stratford house and it couldn't have been more painless, at least from the POV of dealing with them. Kevin at their office was professional and nice to deal with, Steve the plumber was friendly and neat and kept digging in to work the problem vs just hacking and replacing, and George who serviced my furnace and chimney was funny and was done before I actually knew he had started. I had contact throughout the project which was two visits over a week, and everything progressed in what I would say was a good amount of time.
I have an 1886 home, which of course has its own array of challenges, and I had a slow cold water line leading to my upstairs and my finished attic that needed to get sorted out. Instead of bashing open walls they spent the time tracing the very unusual water line path and found it was merely a clogged water filter we didn't even know was in a crawlspace behind a jacuzzi tub. Seriously, 10 yrs and I never even saw it, and have no idea why its there in the first place. They replaced a pedestal sink that had a crack, and Kevin at the office endeavored to hit a Black Friday sale to get me a great replacement instead of just picking one and slapping it on the bill. I got treated like I was a friend by everyone I dealt with at Basso, and they'd be my one and only call the next time. -JPinCT

Working with this company was not a positive experience what so ever. I hired Basso Plumbing to make a repair on a property I manage in Norwalk CT. They visited the home and determined that a shower valve needed to be replaced, and explained they would order the part (which would arrive within a week), and would then be back out to install.
It has now been over a month, and after multiple calls the shower is still not repaired. After calling yesterday, leaving a message and not receiving a call back - I called once again today. They are now explaining that they were ""unable to locate the part, and are unable to make the repair"". It absolutely should not have taken over a month for them to determine they would be unable to find a replacement, I should have been notified immediately. Waste of my time, will NOT be working with this company again.
Matthew O.I always hate to write negative reviews, but this company is the worst. My HVAC contractor used them to do some plumbing when I retrofitted AC into my home. A couple of years later, my boiler died over a Thanksgiving weekend. My HVAC guy said he couldn't do it over the holiday and referred me to Basso. They installed a new System 2000 boiler and it's been issue after issue after issue. Final straw was when I had a leak in the plumbing between the boiler and the hot water heater and they tried to charge me $200 for a $2 valve and about 15 min of work. Stopped using them and I've been getting it serviced by a reputable contractor for the past several years. I've had a couple of other things need to be replaced prematurely. My current guy always says things like, ""never seen it done that way before"" and ""I've never had to replace this part before."" Stay away, stay VERY far away!
I'm so happy with the service I received personally from the owner and his amazing staff. They were efficient, knowledgeable and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend Stephen for any heating and cooling needs.
Kimberly L.I wrote a review on 10/26. Since then another repair person - actually a plumber requested and sent by CNG - came and replaced the broken part. Total cost - $130 for part and labor. It took 3 minutes. Basso Wanted $340 for part and labor plus $95 for service call - total $435.00.
I really want to reiterate that Steve Basso is terrible - a total rip-off trying to rob you because they think you don't know any better. Would never use or call them.
BEWARE!
Very frustrating. Called their ""emergency"" number and was told someone would contact me. They did not. I had to get someone else.
Basically they charge $400-$500 an hour for repairs. Last time they fixed something for me I was in a jam and had no choice so I paid $1500 for some pipes replaced on my boiler. The next issue I had they said would be $500 for a simple repair that would take an hour.
Horrible.
The guy who helped me was nice & pleasant but the company is horrible.
Pamela J.Agree with everyone else. I hear their radio ads almost daily. They act as if they are the biggest and the best. I called yesterday morning about 6:30 am and did I get a call back from them? Nope, no I did not. Why exactly do they spend money to advertise when they are not going to return calls?
