Rita G.Mike Rutigliani is a con artist. My husband and I used him around 2010 to do a conversion from oil to gas. For years we went back and forth for him to file the necessary certificates. To this day, they have not been filed. He always has personal problems. Talks about family, health, etc. He cries on the phone, he cries in person, it's ridiculous. Beware, he no longer works for Stephen Thorpe. He now works for Vigilante.
Gregory C.I've been using this plumbing company from time to time for over a decade.
Always punctual. They have repaired my home boiler and replaced my tenants broken kitchen drain pipe, among other things.
Your going to pay top dollar, but I've never had any issue with the completed work. No complaints.
Cash or check only.
George K.We hired this company because we found the phone number on the boiler, and figured since they previously worked on the boiler they would be familiar with it. So we get in contact with Mike , he comes by and tells us the old boiler is to old to find replacement for. Which we knew cause it was at least 60 years old. Then he tells us the project should take no more than 2 days, and wanted a deposit to start the job. We have him the deposit. They came in removed the old boiler as promised. And that's when the problems started. At first he told us the boiler he ordered would be delayed. Then every day he would come up with an excuse as to why the job couldn't get done that day. So after a week i googled the company and was shocked to see, that this is a scam that they do to everybody. Mike always has excuses and promises to save ""a ton of money"". So i called him, flipped on him let his office know the kind of boss he was. So i ended up filing a complaint with the bbb a few days after i found out about his scams and more lies. Then he calls me, and starts crying over the phone. I mean what boss does that? I had to threaten him with legal action and told him there's 2 elderly people in the house with arthritis. Having no heat is causing them pain. Then my family started calling him. And yelling at him over the phone every day, then he ends up crying over the phone to each one of them!. So finally the 2 week window to finish the project that bbb gave him was finally complete. So all in all a 2 day project last 3 weeks. I head every excuse from. He also claimed he was going to refund every dime we gave him (which he won't that's another scam). I will never ever hire this company, and i recommend no one ever do. At one point they had 28 employees, and each one of them has quit on him, Now he's down to 2 people. Speaks volumes. Never hire these guys These guys are crooks, how are they in business still i have no idea, their license should be taken away. I wouldn't even recommend them to someone i disliked. I'm going to post this post, every where i can because every should know what these people do everyone and it's right or fair.
I called them sometime last year for an estimate to convert my oil heat system to gas. Got an appointment for a Saturday. They never showed up, nor even called to explain or apologize. Guess a big job like that wasn't worth it to them. I'd even used them once before for a tune up. No more.
Thorpe's management insisted on being paid up front by check or cash for an estimated job that dragged on for many months and ended up costing less than what we paid. When informed that we were entitled to a rebate, repeated calls and promises to refund the payment found them vigorously avoiding to keep their word and they have no longer return our calls. One excuse given by Thorpe was that they experienced a cash flow problem due the many credit card payments by customers, a courtesy they denied us when demanding an immediate up front full payment for an exaggerated estimate. Along with evasive excuses, they ignored letters from The Better Business Bureau asking to negotiate or be in contact.
