Recommended Customer Reviews
Excellent service. They were able to respond quickly and efficiently. The plumbers, Thomas and Michael, were friendly and explained the problem well. They cleaned up the area nicely.
I was very satisfied with their work.
Tiffany N.Good experience. I like how they charge by the job and not by the hour. We had some non-emergency plumbing and they were able to come out the next day. Steve, our plumber, was friendly and knowledgeable - he was also careful to clean-up and nice to the inquisitive kids. We like that it's a local company too. Would call again (which might be soon since our house is needing updates).
Steve, a master plumber from Steinhorst Plumbing, arrived at our house on Wednesday morning, August 27th, 2014, to replace an old, corroded faucet in our bathroom. Steve thought that it would be a simple, straightforward job. It didn't turn out that way.
He arrived at our house promptly according to the scheduled time. As a matter of fact, he was even early.
Our house is an older home. The bathroom faucet has been there for at least 50 years and the bathroom sink is wall-mounted. The new faucet had to be special-ordered.
As it turned out, because the old faucet was badly corroded, the bolts that held the faucet to the underside of the sink would not move. Steve had to remove the sink from the wall, turn it upside down, and drill out the bolts that held the faucet to the underside of the sink. Next, he had to re-mount the sink and then he could install the new faucet, which was the job that he came to our house to do in the first place.
After Steve remounted the sink and installed the new faucet, he tested everything for leaks. There were no leaks, but the water in the sink would not drain properly, so Steve had the added job of snaking out the sink and the adjacent tub. We had not foreseen this, but to Steve it was just ""another day in the park,"" and he adapted and went on.
Throughout all of this, Steve maintained his sense of humor. He was always calm, cool, collected, diligent and efficient. Steve never wastes a motion, and he really knows what he is doing. He carefully advised us in advance of the costs that we would be incurring. We value his knowledge, his persistence, and his wise counsel. We are very glad that we followed his advice at each stage of the operation.
Steve is meticulous. He always cleans as he goes. After he removed the sink from the wall, he took the opportunity to clean the back of the sink and the wall behind it. Then he cleaned up everything again before he left.
For the materials that we received and the job that Steve did for us, Steinhorst's charges were entirely reasonable. We have used Steinhorst Plumbing for at least 30 years. Steve's excellent, timely work and his superb craftsmanship and diligence is another example of the fine service that Steinhorst has always provided to us.

Our family have used Steinhorst contracting services for many years, and we are now on the second generation of the family using Steinhorst. They work with great customer service, and integrity. Their workmanship is detailed and thorough. We are very pleased with Steinhorst and will continue to use them for as long as we can.
I contacted this business because it was listed as one that sold the type of facet I had purchased some years back and was simply attempting to inquiring about the steps that needed to be taken to replace the sprayer head. Yes, I made this call on a Sunday but businesses are open on Sunday the young lady that answered the phone answered with the business name and when I told her I was looking for someone that I could speak to concerning my facet she said ""Hold let me get the Chief Plumber on the line"". Needless to say I didn't catch his name however he was rude, abrupt and extremely nasty! I just had a few questions concerning the brand and if there was a warranty. He tells me he doesn't know what I am seeing, I told I had others plumbers out and they couldn't locate the model number, but since he was familiar with the brand maybe he could tell where to locate the model number...well HE WAS apparently offended that I had contacted his business on a Sunday and after having consulted other plumbers! He told me it was Sunday and I'm calling him at home (thank you I didn't know that..it's the Lord's day of rest to me as well) however I contacted your business number and I told him I was unaware that you were at home, certainly not closed because he told me he could come out tomorrow and take a look at it, while berating me that he couldn't tell what facet I was talking about just because I was underneath the sink looking for the model number. Which he refused to tell where I could locate on the brand and if I wanted something for free I needed to call the company. I told him it was not about free but if the product was covered under warranty. Nothing is for free in life (not even this review because it is taking my time and energy to type it) and certainly not that expensive facet he poorly tried to get me to let him come out and install! I have read review where it said their poor rating was unwarranted and I am here to tell a simple phone call and I know I would not and told him so be doing business with him. I am also a member of Angie's list as well. And based on other reviews they will provide you poor service as well! I didn't think I needed to review Yelp just to contact a business for possible work and a few questions. It is obvious that, that is exactly what one most do nowadays. All the 5 Star reviews don't list any plumbing issues they had....probably family and employees working there... After reading all the other reviews it is crystal clear how they operate and have no desire or training for customer service.....I'm sure business is BLOOMING!!! Which is why you have your home number the same as the business or you are forwarding the business line home!?!! He was rude, nasty and disrespectful for no reason whatsoever! Take your money, trust and time elsewhere! They do not deserve neither!!!! See you on Angie's List Steinhorst Plumbing Heating & Cooling, Mr. Chief Plumber!!!!
My handyman, whom I trust, suggested I get an estimate from this firm for a job he couldn't do. Based on that recommendation, I decided to ask for the work without another estimate. The plumbers arrived a day before scheduled, but since they were there, I asked them to install a Kohler Cimarron toilet (Home Depot price: $198.) It didn't fit against the wall because the toilet outlet dates back to 1923, and modern standard toilets are trimmer. Halfway through the job, they informed me that ""whoever put in the hole"" placed it too far from the wall, and that a special order would be required to fit the space. I decided I could work around the problem, and decided to swallow the cost, even though it seemed too high to me -- $700 for less than one hour's work. We discussed the work for the next day, but when they arrived with mismatched parts, I decided to bail. I think they could do a good job, but the combination of exuberant pricing and inattention to detail made me think I had had enough.
There are a few negative reviews on here, and I believe they are unwarranted. I have not compared prices for them, but my landlord has had me contact Steinhorst to help them tune up their townhouse before their next set of tenants move in. I have dealt with them thrice, and it has been a pretty good experience all times. I can't comment on the pricing because i did not pay for them. My landlord does think they are honest and will fix things for a fair price.
They fixed the HVAC once. Second and third times, they came and rehooked up some faulty plumbing connections and replaced a toilet. The first time because my heat was not working, within an hour of me calling (which meant at 830 am), they already had a technician at my place. The second time they came, they ended up coming later then they had expected and called me first to tell me they would be late and called me a second time to warn me that they were now actually on their way. They had to order a new toilet, and for the third visit, before coming back at their scheduled time as arranged a week earlier, I was called to give me a heads up that they were coming,
They do a good job of cleaning up after themselves, are quite professional in their logoed up truck, and were kind enough not to visibly get annoyed at my annoying barking dog. I may consider using them again on my own dime in the future as their customer service is quite good. As far as their actual skill, I can say that it seems like the HVAC works as does the plumbing. It seems like they respond rather quickly to requests and there is not a long wait time for service.
I would not hesitate to use them again as long as the pricing was right. They seem like a good lot.
We had a toilet replaced and it has rocked and not been stable since new installation. The technician came out again within the 90 day guarantee and refused to fix it without charging us. I followed up with Craig the owner who proceeded to berate me, shout at me and cut me off and refused to honor his company's guarantee.
I cannot have this company in my house again, don't trust this company!!
Mafia strong arm tactics! Need serious customer service training.
Stay away from these people.
Here is a summary of my experience with them:
My water heater was broken and I called them because they were the people who had installed it. They said the parts are covered under the warrenty and I have to pay for the labor. I agreed, and asked themto give me an estimate of the cost before beginning to charge me.
They came to my house and tried to figure out the issue and they could not. Then they called me and told me that they can't fix it and I have to call somewhere else. and they charged me $120. I asked what is the charge for, and he replied for diagnosis. I said you haven't done anything and you don't have even have a diagnosis and you are referring me to somebody else and you are charging me?
They were really rude. I called his boss and he was worse. he shouted and said that he'll put a lien agains my house.
These people are crooks, not knowing anything and they are exteremly rude.
I highly recommend Steinhorst Plumbing. My family has used them for years, and for good reason. Their employees are professional and courteous, service is prompt, they have access to what you need and their prices are excellent. We have used them for multiple jobs and have been very happy with the outcome every time. They provide useful information on maintenance, and offer options for every budget when appropriate. After the job is done, they give the area they worked in the white glove treatment and leave our home looking even better than it did before they came. Local friends and neighbors have also been very pleased with their service.
