They are taking advantage of people, shame on you Jack. $1767.00 for a hot water heater in the garage even, replacement. you were here less than 2 hours.

Horrible communication...Don't do an extensive job of investigation when doing commercial jobs and really don't know what they are doing. Quickly point the finger to others and don't do proactive work ahead of time making them a more complete plumbing expert. Asked after the 5th time of flooding aa new building, Jack said ""pay the other guy every 2 weeks to come pressure wash it out"" Are you kidding me????? Fall way short. Plus the fact that Jack will talk over you, cut you off in conversation and hang up on your phone calls..... After many years of loyalty, they are BAD!!!
We had a great experience with Steakley Plumbing. We had been plagued with several persistent and deteriorating plumbing problems (in both our kitchen and our bathroom). The guys who showed up were quick to diagnose and correct our problems. No wasted time. Their competence doubtless saved us a good bit of money, and they left our facilities spotless and working great! They were also polite and very professional. We have lived in Nashville for 40 years -in four homes- and this is the finest plumbing service we have ever called. I recommend them without hesitation.
Steakley Plumbing has taken care of our home for years.
Our pool pumps froze last week in the frigid temperatures,
there was not a heater left in the Nashville area. I called Steakley to see what they suggested. Jack Steakley answered the phone and personally delivered one of his heaters to me on his way home that afternoon.
Steakley Plumbing is a local family business that cares about their customers, they are competent, considerate and efficient!
Steakley came out to my house because we had a minor drip from a shower. I asked several times during the inital process of what the estimated price would be but they wouldn't give me any kind of price indication or estimate. Their crew came to my house and left 15 minutes after saying that they didn't have the proper part to fix it, apparently we needed new stems in the tub flaucet. After waiting over a month before I heard back, they finally came over 40 days later to fix the drip. Their crew was in and out in about 15 minutes. After that, they proceed to charge me an ABSURB amount for the two visits. I understand that this is a trade business and they have to charge a combination of labor and parts; however, what they charged for two short visit was utterly ridiculous, especially when you factor that they were in and out of the house in 15 minutes both times. I called to ask to speak with a supervisor to get a better understanding of the full charge and all they did was send me another invoice. Poor customer service and transparency. I would never recommend them to anyone, only reason I didn't give one star is because it appears the drip is fixed and their work crew was friendly.
Steakley Plumbing used to be great & now not so much. One of their guys went out to repair a nasty water backup. The guy dislodged the blockage. Our tenants then asked if he would look at a slow drain upstairs, that they had forgotten to mention to me. This plumber told the tenant to ""use vinegar & baking soda."" & then he left to go on vacation.
I called Steakley the next business day & left a message for the son, who may be running the business more, since Jack is semiretired. I did not receive a phone call & three days later, called him. He offered to send out someone that day, which I appreciated. The tenants took care of the slow drain already with Draino, so I cancelled.
I will not be using them again.
Let me preference this by saying I have used Jack Steakley Plumbing for years and was always impressed with his service. However, after my most recent experience, I will not only find a new plumbing service, but am going out of my way to help others avoid the mistake of hiring a costly and time consuming plumber.
This started with a simple request to Jack Steakley to install a water faucet on the outside of my home. Regretfully not requesting a quote before the work began, the faucet was installed and I received my bill, which nearly knocked me out of my chair. However, I felt it was my own fault for not asking for the quote before hand, so I begrudgingly paid it. Three weeks passed before the weather was warm enough to even try the faucet out and to my disgust, the faucet was leaking. I called Jack Steakley and he came out to look at the problem. He was able to quickly fix it and left with little discussion on what the problem was. After a couple days had passed I soon found out why. I was billed an additional $150 for him to come out fix what he called a busted line due to cold weather. Naturally I was furious with the entire situation and began to call, and with little surprise, my calls were suddenly avoided and my messages were not returned. I have yet to get an answer as to why I was billed to fix a poorly installed faucet. So, please do yourself a favor and DO NOT CALL JACK STEAKLEY FOR ANYTHING!!!
Have used Steakley fo over 15 years and will continue. They are always courteous and on time. And, I see the same technician or 2 for each call I've made. I have used other ""big"" companies in town but have found that Steakley is much more reliable and reasonable in price. I've never had to sign any form for Steakley to do any work for me. I always make sure to do my homework on any issues I have and I definitely DO NOT sign any form without reading it. I would highly recommend Steakley but I also would recommend doing your homework and getting several bids before making your final decision.
Mark M.My wife and I recently decided to remodel our bathroom. In our search of plumbing fixtures, we saw Steakley Kitchen and Bath Showroom from the interstate and decided to stop in. We were pleasantly surprised by the selection and the attentiveness of the staff. They were very knowledgeable and informed us that they do complete bath remodels.
We decided to have them out to give us a quote and upon us accepting the price, the date to start was set. Everything went really smooth and they were very easy to work with. Even when we changed some things mid stream. All said and done, we are extremely please with our new bath and will definitely use them again in the future.
Plus, they even gave us a five year warranty since we purchased all our fixtures from them and they installed them. How could we go wrong, as no one else in town will offer that.
Paul K.Before I met someone who knew what they were doing I probably would have raved about this company. After I did I can't help but feel as though I flushed all that money down the toilet.
Top 3 long stories short:
1) 1940s house no water pressure $3000 new main line lot of changes inside no better. (guy who knew what he was doing bought $200 worth of pex and supplies and with $150-300 in labor redid 300 feet of line and fixed it) - 5 visits, several days off work for them to do nothing that helped.
2) Needed to have 2 pipes added to a line as we were building an addition - lines were added, toilet upstairs started flushing boiling water, they re-crossed the lines, no water in sink, re-re-crossed lines, I ended up with a pipe monstrosity that looked like Charlie Brown's shirt - aformentioned plumber who knew what he was doing looked at it and asked if they were stoned. They managed to charge nearly $1000 for 2 stoned guys to stand around for 6 hours and run a pipe into an unfinished wall (should have taken 30 minutes)
3) and this is the good one - these are the plumbers my mother used. She passed away in 2003, while going through her accounts and settling things I found they were charging her even more than they were charging me for simple crap.. I mean, really...
I seem to remember them being really good to work with when she first found them... but man, any quotes I got from them in the past 5 years have been in their own ballpark far far away from reality.
Yeah, I got burned from not knowing, charged double plumber rates for 1/4th of an operating plumber, didn't know what was involved and went along with it. With the last job they did for me (which will be the last job they do for me) I still have the evidence if anyone wants a picture of the worst pipe-welding fiasco ever. I'm not just an anonymous yelper, I'm also someone with a digital camera!
It has been 3 years since I even contacted them for a quote as really, burned more than once, but realized I'd been burned a lot..
