I wish I could rate this company 0 stars and attach all the unprofessional, rude, defrauding emails I have received from the owner of this company.
I had a service line and sump pump replaced a few months a ago after a flood happened in my basement. I contracted this company, it took 6 calls and two no show appointments to even get a quote. After having to call over and over to find out why no one was showing up to quote after I sat at home all day losing money from not working to get a quote, it took 2+ months to even get them to come do the work. They actually showed up for that appointment, and they work was good, but we ended up with a leak on pipes they replaced, so had to spend another month trying to get them to honor their own warranty to fix the leak, but they eventually did fix it.
Second time around with this God awful company was the fact we are still getting flooded even after spending thousands of dollars for them to fix the flooding issue, turns out it was a driveway drain that was causing the issue. We asked for a quote on ONLY getting a driveway grate installed. The first guy lied and claimed we needed a new sump pump, basin and service lines (we JUST had this company replace all these things not even a month prior and all under warranty, it was clear they were all new and I'm good working order). So we got a quote for $3,000+ and over $2,200 of that coat was to re-install all the items they JUST installed a month prior. I contacted the company about this and had the owner offer a 25% discount in writing and sent a more experienced guy out to revisit the quote and verify what I needed. That guy came out to my house, verified I didn't need a basin, sump pump or service lines and they were all new and functional. He said the grate was all I needed. We asked for a new quote on just the grate.
The original quote for all the stuff we didn't need + the grate was $3,062. The owner sent a new quote over for $2700. He only took a 10% off the total even though I have written proof he was going to take 25% off. On top of that, we were STILL being quoted for replacement of the items they JUST INSTALLED a month prior and we're under warranty. I spoke to owner Mark and I sent him screenshot of his OWN message offering 25% off, sent him the original quote of $3,062 that includes $2200 of stuff we just had installed and is brand new and didn't need replacing. Then sent him the revised quote he sent to us of $2700 that shows only a 10% discount and still includes all the stuff we don't need replaced. I was giving a very rude ""screw you"" message emailed back to me. Saying ""clearly I can't do anything here so have a nice day"" even though he was called out, with written proof from owner directly lying, attempting to defraud their customers and no honoring any of their own statements, warranty or work.
I HIGHLY suggest you steer clear from this company. We have had many many issues with the customer service, they don't show up for appointments, no communication, don't warranty their own statements or work and the owner is clearly trying to screw the customers over and convince people they need work they don't. I have lost two days of work, had to spend hours dealing with these people and I'm the end, owner says screw you.
Oh and then the owner threatened to sue me if I didn't take down any negative reviews. Told me to hire a lawyer cause they are filing a lawsuit. It's all about appearance with his company, not doing the right thing.
They are very professional. I had a wonderful experience with them. Very efficient in the work that they do. I highly recommend Stay Dry Basement Waterproofing.
Eric H.Prompt, great customer service, professional. Would highly recommend them to friends and family.
Kenneth Z.I requested to have a quote as my basement is flooding in two areas. I was given an appointment time of two weeks later. The day before my appointment I get a phone call telling me to hire a landscaping company to fix the grading at my house. Basically, they didn't want to come to my home to give me a quote or do work. I have a fairly new home with a walkout basement but this company will never know that as they have never been to my house but can still somehow diagnose my problem and recommend that I hire someone else to fix it. Let's just say I do take this advise and then during the next post suggestion and fix it leaks again... What would I do then call them back to once again have someone quote me so they can then diagnose the problem for the first time?
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I spent close to $10,000 to install a partial seal and sump pump with a PUMP SPY (a system that alerts you when there is an issue with you pump). Problem #1 The sump pump drains the water out of my basement to side of my houses where the water is constantly being recycled because it has nowhere to go causing my sump pump to be constantly running making my electricity bill to be extremely high. I was never given another option as to where to drain the water. This is what caused my sump pump to go out.
Problem # 2 I get an alert from my monitoring system that my sump pump needs Immediate attention, to avoid a flood. I called Stay Dry's 24-HOUR PHONE NUMBER at approximately 3:00pm and explained that I needed someone to come out and look at my sump pump to avoid a flood in my basement, I stated that it was an emergency. The person taking the call stated that someone would be out to look at it. I waited patiently for someone to come out, six hours later my basement starts to flood. I call them back and explained that my basement was flooding as we speak and needed someone come out ASAP. 30 minutes later someone comes out, by this time my entire basement is flooded my laminate flooring was floating and many of my sentimental personal belonging were damaged. I was told that my sump pump (that was still under warranty) went out and that it would be $775 which included a $200 fee because it was after hours. I was also told that I would have to address the warranty issue with the manufacturer. I didn't buy it from manufacturer I bought the pump Stay Dry so they should handle the warranty.
I had to file an insurance, and which has $1,000 deductible with over $3,000 in damages lost some things that are irreplaceable. This situation has caused also my insurance rate to sky rocket and caused stress to my family. I was told the reason no one came after my FIRST call at 3:00pm was that the person taking the call FOR THEIR COMPANY didn't log it as an emergency. Had they come out within a reasonable amount of time to this entire situation could have been avoided. I called and expressed my concerns to the ""manager"", the only thing they did was apologize and had someone come out and tell me that they could DO MORE WORK to avoid my pump from being overworked at a discounted price, which should have been offered at the time I got the system installed.... NO THANKS!! but not once did they offer to help with DAMAGES THAT THEY CAUSED after I spent close to $10,000 with them. They should have made this situation right by at the very least refunding me the $775 that I had to pay for pump that was still under warranty. But they did absolutely nothing but apologize. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!! They do not work with integrity. If I could give less stars I would!
Russ S.I live in northern Michigan their web site states they have an office near where I live. I found after the fact they are 3 hours away and if I need service it is a $400 charge to have them come to northern Michigan. Had I known this I would have picked a local company.
Don't ever hire this company. 1st of all they are so disorganized. They kept changing the day they suppose to do the job. They told me they were going to show up on a monday afternoon and they did but then the next day they show up till like 1pm in the afternoon and basically did nothing. Wednesday came thru and they never show up. And of course it was Thanksgiving that thursday so they never show up the rest of week. What upset me is that they never called me to let me know they were not going to show up on the rest of the week. They came back on monday and the job was finish till Wednesday. The job was done good. But their clean up was horrible. They left concrete mix on my porch, and basement stairs. They also broke my latch for my storm door in my porch. Their employees also were opening my fridge and left concrete mix all over the handle. My laminated flooring in my kitchen had footprints of their workers with concrete mix. I got hold of their manager and he said to email him the pictures of the problems and i never heard anything back. Their work was good, but their clean up is horrible. Beware of this company.
I recently had StayDry® complete an inspection of my home. I've had problems with water in my basement over the years and decided to fix the problem once and for all. I actually had three different people look at my basement. I decided to call StayDry® because they were a local contractor. Here were some of the reasons I ultimately went with and am happy with StayDry®: They responded and came out right away. The price wasn't too high and they quoted an amount that reflected the actual work that needed to be done. They also recommended some products that they thought would ultimately keep my basement dry, even in pouring rain. I am particularly happy with the sump pump and French drain system that they installed. Thank you David Brown and StayDry®!
I had been in my home for a little over a year before I noticed water coming into my basement. I called two other companies first, one was local and the other one was based out of Detroit. The other local company put me a on a two month waiting list, with the hope that they could get to me by then. The company based out of Detroit never returned my call or email. I called Stay Dry, and an appointment was made to come out to perform and assessment and estimate within a week. The owner, Dave, was actually the one to come out to my home.
He arrived on time, introduced himself and wanted to look over the house thoroughly to ensure I did not have any external issues that could have caused the water coming into my basement. He explained the whole process in detail, and wanted to make sure that I understood the system, how it worked and how it would be installed. He was very personable, and showed a genuine concern for my situation. The estimate I was given was very fair and reasonable.
On installation day, the team showed up on time and prepared. They showed concern and respect for my home by protecting the carpet, walls and making every effort to reduce the dust and debris created from the installation process. They even let me know before they started using the jack hammer so I could remove my dogs from the house!
Installation was completed within a day, and Dave even took the time to be on site to make sure everything was done to standard. The crew did a great job in cleaning up, and went over the things to look for and expect in regards to the concrete curing. Within a week, I had moved everything back into that area, and it was like nothing had ever happened!
Since then, there have been a few days with a good amount of rainfall, and I have absolutely no water within the basement!
I would highly recommend this company for any homeowner that has water issues in their house!
A week after Dave hung up on me, with no further communication, on April 21, 2017, I received a call from Tony. He stated that the owner had given him permission to fill the crack for free. When I asked if there was going to be a warranty, he told me he wouldn't say but there would be a written agreement. He told me he would follow up with information about a warranty. He then told me someone else would call me to schedule a date and time. I never received a call back from Tony about the warranty.
A few hours later, John called me to set up an appointment. We scheduled it for May 3rd. He told me that there was going to be a ""release/waiver"" to sign. I said that must be what Tony meant by written agreement. I asked if it's possible, I'd like to see this document before the worker came out to my house on May 3rd.
On May 2nd, I received a phone call from John confirming the appointment for May 3rd. I asked about not receiving a copy of the ""written agreement/release/waiver"" and he chuckled. He said he does see a special instruction note on my file and that the worker would handle that the next day.
Staydry did not show up on May 3rd, nor did they even bother to call.
On May 12th, I received a voicemail from John asking to set up a time for the work to be completed. No mention of previous appointment but did mention the written agreement/waiver/release that needs to be signed prior to the work being completed. I told him that I had an appointment for May 3rd and nobody showed up. He told me higher ups decided to pull the plug on that appointment a few hours prior to the appointment. I asked about the written agreement and he said Tony would have to call me back. When Tony called, he asked to set up the appointment and I reminded him that I had an appointment back on May 3rd and nobody showed up or even called. He said it could have been because of my ""postings."" He said the written agreement is that they will perform the work for free if I would remove my postings, including my complaint to the BBB. I told him I would not be willing to do that. He told me they will be replying to my postings. I told him everything in my postings is the truth and I wouldn't want potential customers to not see them. I have every voicemail they've left me and phone conversations we've had.
