Recommended Customer Reviews
I have been a Stark Air customer for more than a decade. Up until this recently I only needed them for yearly maintenance, which I was enrolled in the yearly maintenance program, where they would come out twice a year for routine maintenance. They had always done a great job in keeping my system running smoothly so when looking for a new system they were the first inline that I would consider.
My Wife and I built a new home in 2012 and had numerous problems with the builder grade A/C where it would not keep the upstairs and down stairs below 80 degrees on a 100-degree day. After having the builder A/C contractor come out 7 times without any resolution I decided I didn't want to deal with them any longer and would live with this until I could replace the undersized system.
In November 2015 I started the process of having various HVAC companies analyze my system and make recommendations. My house had a heat pump originally and I wanted to convert this to natural gas high efficiency furnace since the gas line for the fireplace went right under the air-handler in the attic. Now over the past 3+ years I have done extensive research on HVAC systems especially since our home is utilizing spray foam insulation, which is great for efficiency but has some challenges. Air quality along with having the correct equipment is essential in maintaining safety when installing and safety for my Family was my main concern in hiring the right company who understands the challenges. Of the four HVAC companies I had come out they all found that the unit was undersized along with the ductwork not sufficient to heat or cool the size of the house.
Of the four companies they where all pretty much inline with each other on cost but some of the equipment was from various manufacturers. I decided to go with Stark Air for many reasons. The first was that I had a relationship with the company for so long but mainly due to the diligence of Mark Cowden from Stark Air. Mark was the most by far who took the time to go through the entire house along with investigating all that was required and needed to build a system that was safe and most efficient when dealing with spray foam insulation. Mark truly shown concern for my Families safety and my over-all customer satisfaction. Mark was also present during the install to ensure that the system was being built to his specifications and design.
We decided to have the new unit installed on December 29, 2015 and the crew of six arrived on time and ready to go. The entire crew was very considerate of my house and made sure floors to the attic where all covered and protected. They did the entire job in one day and I couldn't be happier with the install. Since I do have sprayed insulation I utilize the storage space in the attic for storage. The home Builder had wire and debris all over and the air-handler was just thrown in there with metal strapping. Stark did a great professional job utilizing a hanging cable and steel support structure to hang the new furnace. All wiring was cable tied and neatly placed. You could tell the Guys had a lot of pride in there work and it had shown when the job was through. The furnace is working 100 time better than the heat pump and the house is much more comfortable over-all. I consider myself a demanding customer who demands attention to detail and would highly recommend Stark Service for any HVAC or plumbing service. I may have failed to mention but Stark Plumbing had to tie into my existing gas line and did a fantastic job as well. Following the safety codes along with taking care of permits and inspections needed to complete the work.
Joyce M.Stark has been servicing our hvac for years. Jonathan came this time and did a very through job. We have them come out twice a year spring/winter to make sure everything is working the way it should. They never try to sell us something we don't need. I would recommend Stark to anyone.
I called and requested an estimate to fix a leak I had to my water shutoff valve. After the technicians (who were nice) came and examined the leak, I was told the fix would be almost $800 because they would have to tunnel under concrete and permits from the city would be required, etc. I called another plumber and the leak was fixed through the manhole WITHOUT any tunneling in about an hour and cost less than $300. I would definitely shop around before calling this company out!
Ericka C.We had this company come out about 2 1/2 years ago when our a/c went out. I wish I remembered the technician's name, but I do remember how thorough and knowledgable he was. He checked the ducts and furnace and took into account our window placement and everything when he suggested a new a/c unit. We weren't ready to get a new one at that time (we were about to have our first child) but he was able to get the a/c working again but didn't know how long it would last. Well, it lasted us 2 more summers!
When our a/c quit working again, I made sure to call this company again. They still had all our info on file and came out early the next day. Ralph and Derek greeted us, checked the thermostat, the ducts in attic and the unit itself of course.
Some things that put these guys apart from other companies:
-Put shoe protectors on when they come inside your house. Every time!
-Made sure you watch them weigh a container of coolant before putting it in the machine and then after, so you know you are only paying for what you are getting exactly.
-Ralph asked me several times if I had any questions and even helped expand our knowledge of a/c units and how they worked. Didn't get defensive when my mother asked him stuff about what she had read online and air conditioners, he was actually impressed with all she knew! What he said actually matched what she had read online too.
-Gave us several options on what we can do to fix our unit (he could guarantee the part he could replace but couldn't give us peace of mind since it was an old machine he was putting the part in..and could go at any second)
-Ralph and Derek were very respectful and polite to me and my mother, even when he called the secretary to set up an appointment with a salesman he spoke very kindly to her too. Got love a guy who is good to women! I know most women probably don't know a whole lot about a/c stuff, but he was nice enough to try and teach us some stuff and gave us cheap temporary tricks we could do in a pinch to get our unit working again if it goes out again.
-Got us an appointment at night (so my husband could be there too) that same day with salesman and honored our coupon we got off Yelp and even said the money we paid for the coolant he put in today could be put towards a new unit!
Honestly, we've had other companies come out and you won't find a better, thorough, knowledgable or nicer company than Stark. Ask for Ralph!
Beau came out at 7pm as promised and we were able to purchase a 3.5 ton machine (everyone else said we needed a 5 ton and said nothing about our duct work) and were able to fix our duct work in the attic to be more efficient (we already knew our setup was bad, but non of the other companies looked at it or even mentioned it). I feel we got a great deal and they have so many great warranties and guarantees we are definitely getting the most out of our money. We're even getting a deal on installation because we're getting it done on July 4th which is a slow day for them!
Installation went well. The only issue was that they installed the wrong thermometer. We were told we'd be getting one that could be controlled by your phone and that is NOT what was installed. They told us it wouldn't be a problem and they'd install it later. 3 weeks later we finally have a date for them to switch it. To be fair, it's probably because my husband forgot to call them back to set up an appointment.
Stark Services went over and beyond to make sure I was a satisfied customer. They made the appropriate repairs and followed up with phone calls to ensure I felt good about the entire transaction. Very sincere when it comes to caring for their customers.
Josh W.So the tech comes out and says he "thinks" its a bad blower motor and h'ell call me the next day with a quote... First, he never calls back until I call asking about the quote... then a manager calls back and quotes $1,150.00 to replace a blower motor???? I called the manufacture and the motor and capacitor together are $98.55 my cost and the motor bolts in with 4 bolts!!!.. shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to remove the old one and install the new one! ... When I confronted him on the costs and asked how much the motor was he said "we don't quote parts by them selves". This guy is a real slime ball.
This is not a reputable company.. I feel like they were trying to rip me off and take advantage of me.
I will never use them again. Buyer be very aware!
Sally P.We have had a service contract with Stark for several years. Gives us a reduced rate on semi-annual system check, plus peace of mind knowing they will come out (also at a reduced rate) if we have an emergency need. Their technicians are always knowledgeable and courteous. Latest tech, Isaics, was in and out in no time still doing a thorough check with recommendations on needed repairs.
We trust Stark and would not think of doing business with anyone but them.
Ryan P.A/C quit working on the hottest night of the summer. We called Stark Air at 7pm and they had a courteous technician here by 8pm.
Luckily, our system just needed to be cleaned bc we never had it maintained. The tech cleaned the coil and just charged for a "tune-up"...never tried to up-sell us on anything, but I will get a Stark Air maintenance plan after this close call and their excellent service.
Highly recommend.
Referred to Stark Air by an independent HVAC professional who couldn't perform the job and was very pleased.
Technicians were prompt, courteous and professional. Price was half of what other HVAC businesses in the area charge (with a five year labor and 10 year parts guarantee)
I will always use Stark Air for my future HVAC needs.
Elizabeth B.Our A/C went out on Friday evening. I called Stark Air at 8:00am Saturday morning. They had a tech here within 30 minutes and by 9:30am we had cold air blowing. Cost us $350, but it was money well spent!!!
