Do NOT use this company. We went over 3 weeks with no air while we were "waiting on a part". only to be told it wasn't ever ordered. When they finally scheduled time, our window was 8 am - 10 am and we received call at 9 that tech was "out late on call last night so we told him to sleep in and he should
be in sometime between 10-12." When he finally came, he had to almost immediately leave cause he forgot a part and needed to run to store. While they finally got it fixed, they charged almost $500 to the card on file 2 days later with no receipt or notification when unit was under warranty!
STAY AWAY!!!!

On 9/8/2023 there was a problem with my nearly new a/c unit. There was a technician that responded to our residence to diagnose the system. The technician stated that a fuse had blown. The technician changed the fuse from a 50 amp fuse and used a 60 amp fuse to get the system up and running. I was also advised and showed pictures of an old fuse that was installed in a new unit. New unit price, I expect new unit parts.I was also advised that the system was dirty and it had recently been cleaned, which was supposedly a few months ago with the advantage service. The technician stated that he would return tomorrow to replace the fuse. The next morning we received a call stating that they would be unable to return until Monday. I expressed my concerns and was told that there was nothing that can be done until Monday . My advantage service is no advantage to me. I received apologies and calls explaining why the could not do the services that they are being paid to do.
We as customers ask that you make good
on the promises that you all make. Provide the service that you promise at the the time of the sell of the new a/c unit.

Same as some of the other reviews ... they came out just for a beginning of season check. System was running fine as we already had several cold days. They wanted me to sign a $310 per month/10-year contract to get on their service plan. If you do the math that's $36,000 for a furnace to heat my 1,800-square-foot home. And, furnaces aren't even used that much in Texas! They said that my furnace was operating properly but I should replace it as it is aged (18 years old). They left and the system has not worked since. I am now waiting for another provider to come out and tell me what is wrong. UPDATE: Stark Air had unplugged a sensor to the system. Second company was honest!!

I called this company out to do a routine spring maintenance on my HVAC. There were no performance issues with my air conditioning prior to them coming out. Everything had been working fine and the temperatures had been in the upper 80s and low 90s. Within 10 minutes of them being there all of a sudden my air conditioning "wasn't working" according to the service tech. He went outside to check the exterior unit and then came back inside and told me that my unit was pulling too many amps and was a fire hazard. And now the outside unit wouldn't even kick on. He sat down and told me that I would need a completely new system that would run me anywhere between $15,000 and $20,000. I called another vendor to come out and give me a second opinion and they found that the positive and negative wires on the run capacitor had been switched. This was leading to the unit not turning on and drawing too many amps. The Stark tech had switched the wires in an attempt to cheat me. Do not use this company.

We had a very similar experience that some described here, with regard to high pressure sales, overselling of equipment, parts and finally leases. We finally were certain we figured out to our satisfaction what was happening, just barely in the nick of time. We almost made a very costly mistake. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you go absolutely anywhere else.
This is definitely a buyer beware. The reason Yelp was invented.
They took over from an existing company (one we had done business with for years) who was ethical, which is why there are mixed reviews. It was gradual, it took some time for them to work their way up to the lease.
Beware, beware, beware.
If you are unsure, it is worth a few extra days in the heat to get a second opinion. Even in Texas.

BEWARE! After being with Stark for many years on a maintenance agreement, I was appalled at how they handled my attempt to cancel service. I moved out of state at the beginning of April and notified them then to stop automatic withdrawals from my bank account. When I called them, I was instructed to send an email to Marsha Griffin, which I did. Since then they have continued to withdraw the monthly payment, despite numerous phone calls and emails. Each month, after yet another withdrawal, I talk with Benjamin Drye, and he tells me that he can't understand why it hasn't been fixed yet, but this time he will totally take care of it. And he's assured me multiple times that I'll get a refund check "within two weeks." Well, I have still not received a refund as of Aug 20 and another deduction was made on Aug 17. I was finally able to get my bank to revoke the authorization, so that at least I won't have any more monthly deductions. We'll just have to wait and see if I ever get my 4 months of over-payments refunded. I can't complain about the service, but leaving them has been worse that trying to get gum off the bottom of my shoe -- and far more costly!

My home AC wasn't cooling properly. It was unable to keep up with the heat. I've used Stark Air in the past and was satisfied with their service so I called them again. They sent out a technician, Jonathan, that same afternoon. From the moment he arrived it was clear he wanted to sell me something expensive. He showed me my evaporator core had some oil film on it and said it needed to be replaced, that it was probably leaking freon. Then, while he was looking at my outside unit, a young lady with Stark Air showed up at my door, which seemed odd. She joined Jonathan in my back yard, then they came back in the house a few minutes later. It became clear immediately that she was a salesperson who was there to try and sell me a new system. Or even better, she wanted to sell me a monthly service plan where they would install a new system and all I would have to pay is $171 per month for 10 years. I have some experience with AC systems and I was pretty convinced mine just needed to have some freon added. Jonathan told me the system holds over 8 pounds and that freon sells for $151 per pound, so I was looking at like $1,200. Well, my system was still cooling, just not as efficiently as it used to, so there was no way it was out of freon, it was just low and not like 100% low or even 80% low. I told him to add 3 pounds and then we could check and see how it was doing. After hearing this, the sales lady disappeared, I guess figuring she wasn't going to sell me a new system. Jonathan went to work and said he added 3 1/2 pounds of freon, but he would only charge me for 3 pounds. I'm not sure this is true, but it might be. As I expected, the system was now cooling fine. Total bill was $522 for about an hour and 3 pounds of freon. I've since looked and R22 refrigerant is available on the internet for around $30 per pound, so I feel like Stark really gouged me for the freon, after being unable to gouge me on a new system. I won't be using them again.

It's extremely sad that I am having to update my previous good review, after THINKING that we had a good experience, we have now found out that Stark completely LIED to us and sold us not only a $6500 unit, for $14,000... but it's also taken over a WEEK to finally get a hold of someone now that we've got the unit. The thought of potentially having an issue and if we needed someone, it would take weeks to get in contact with them?! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! They did what they needed to do to make a sale, and that's honestly all they cared about doing, as well as ripping you off in the process. Highly suggest doing your research, and DO NOT FALL INTO THE LIES THEY PROVIDE JUST TO MAKE THE SALE!

I had stark services come out for $69 to check my AC unit not blowing air. They proceeded to tell me I needed a new unit that it was shot it was a domino effect. First quote was 21,000 the lowest was 16,000 mind you they told me to put a Band-Aid on it would cost you 8000 possibly more. I then called another company which I'll write a review on there to quoted me 6900 said the fan motor was out. I called another company which I will write a review on their came out told me that the board was out and that would cost me 700 and that he could get it up and running that night which he did and it rand freezing cold air for three days until he came out and repaired it and I gave him the job of going ahead and replacing the unit even though I had confidence if he replace the board I probablyDefine with the AC running for a couple years I gave him the job not only because he was honest but to replace the entire unit with a 16 seer 5 ton was going to cost 7200 now you tell me how Stark is a good AC company they should be put out of business !

I had a problem with my a/c because it wasn't cooling. Stark Air arrived on time, but one guy acted like the tech and the other acted more like a salesman. I was told that my upstairs unit had a evaperator coil leak and it was running into the drain pan. The second man tried to sell me a $16K unit option that I could pay $225/mo. for 8 years...NO THANK YOU. I was getting tired of the high pressure sales. I called a friend who owns a Property Management Company (Touchstone Property Mgmt) and he sent his Lead Tech out to check everything out. Come to find out that I didn't have a coil leak upstairs, but a bad compressor on the outside unit. Stark Air sent me a bunch of liars!!!!! Virus or no virus you should be legit and treat everyone right...You didn't for me. I don't trust this company any longer and won't be using them.
