We had flooding due to the stopper not working. Tom from Stark and Cronk came out quickly, assessed the situation and fixed the problem in no time! Wonderful work!
I had a unique problem with an expensive kitchen faucet. The company has long since gone out business and parts are near impossible to source. And yes, it was over Christmas. I tried all the usual places with no luck. I went to Stark & Cronk. I wasn't sure they'd have the parts or could source them but I hoped they could point me in the right direction.
They called their sources including relatives who could possibly find the parts in question. Long story, they were able to get what I needed and refused to take a payment.
So instead of having to buy a new faucet of less quality, I was able to repair the faucet I had and wanted to keep with minimum down time.
Thank you Greg and Mark. You saved me countless wasted hours and endless frustration.
Many thanks.
ANN S.I need to start by saying I debated quite a bit about writing this review because the woman in the office and the plumber that came out both times were very courteous, but ultimately felt so dismayed by the issues, here goes....I called Stark and Cronk because I had a leak in a toilet (3 months old), whom a handyman installed, not a plumber, so I thought it would be something simple due to that reasoning. The first time Travis came out he diagnosed it needed an extra large wax ring. He also tested the toilet with the blue dye. He replaced the wax ring and I paid $160.00 for the call. I was fine with that, as I said a plumber did not do the original install. About 3 weeks later I see it's still leaking, so of course I call Stark and Cronk again. I spoke to office woman again ( I think Elizabeth???) and was told there would be at least a $60.00 trip charge. As I told her that doesn't seem fair because it was misdiagnosed to begin with there should not be another trip charge. Ultimately she agreed And Travis came out again. The second time Travis did another dye test and this time said the toilet was defective. I didn't feel confident with that since he did the dye test on the first call, so I called another plumber. As soon as Mike (new plumber) looked at it he immediately said the flange needs to be built up. He took less time to diagnose and repair and the leak has been permanently fixed. So bottom line is I wasted $160.00 with nothing to show for it that contributed towards actual repair.

I had heard great things about Stark and Cronk, but they exceeded our expectations. We had a furnace/hot water heater installed 9 years ago by another supplier. The provider that installed it came 3 times over the course of 6 months to repair the same problem but never really getting at the real issue and suggested we get a new unit. We called Stark and they quickly determined the problem and even worked with the manufacturer to trouble shoot. In the process our tech at Stark discovered the failing tank was under warranty so they arranged with the manufacturer to have the entire unit replaced. You would think the company that installed it would have tried to look into that. They replaced the unit and charged only for labor which was extremely reasonable. We also have never dealt with a service company that had such great communication right from the start. Linda in the office was great and constantly followed up with calls and emails to update the arrival time of the team. We cannot say enough about these pros. We will never use anyone else.
Just rescued by Stark and Cronk. Our Expansion tank burst late last night and flooded our basement. We have 4 children and we had to shut off all the water. That is a huge problem.
I called this morning at 9:00. They were short on staff since they were attending training, I was worried, but within a 1/2 hour a van was in my drive way! Already replaced the tank, the water is running, toilets flushing! Yeah! Made my day! I would definitely recommend them.
Melinda H.We had a new heating system installed in September. Greg Stark explained our options and helped us select a system for our home. Greg was knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process. Always available for questions.
His technicians were on time, polite, efficient and neat.
Every step was explained to us. And all time lines were met.
I recommend Stark and Cronk as an efficient well run plumbing and heating business.
Stark and Cronk is a solid company for heat outages and plumbing repairs. They are fairly priced for emergency calls. BUT, they are WAY over priced for new plumbing. As for heating and air conditioning, they are WAY over priced. Greg loves to set up complex heating projects and sell you things that you don't need. You know that 98% efficient system that saves $20 per year, but costs $10,000 extra!! That's great because nobody else in area will repair the systems he puts in.. Better of to call a fairly priced contractor.
Both because my family had used Stark and Cronk for decades and because finding a decent heating and cooling company and a good plumber is so tough around here, I used them as well despite EVERY project that i have had them do or consider them for has required having owner Greg Stark call and then come out just to look things over.
Greg refuses to timely return calls, and the process described above has taken at least six months. Again, this is despite my family giving the firm regular business throughout the years.
On top of this work has been very expensive and not very efficient. My first home was my family's 50s-era home. The hot water tank looked large enough, but I never had enough hot water to both take a roughly 10-minute shower and shave.
Wanting to avoid buying a new hot water heater, I had Greg FINALLY out to the house. He had a rather complex system of pipes and a thermostat installed that I recall cost at least $500 in 2001. He asserted that it would help increase the length of time that I would have hot water, but it did not do a bit of good.
I also had S & C install a gas fireplace in my new home; I recall that that took an entire year. The remote stopped working after a few years, and a valve leaked soon after.
The same timeframe existed recalling a problem related to the flow of heat and a/c from the system in the same home as the fireplace. Greg proposed installing an expensive fan to blow air through the ducts. Two subsequent heating and a/c companies and a friend who is an engineer all agreed that the fan would not have been effective.
I recently called S & C to fix a job that another HVAC company botched. Jen at S&C initially told me that S&C would do the very simple project. She also gave me a slight run around regarding claims both that the work would not be done for a month and regarding an assertion that she first had to determine which technician would do the work.
When i called back, Jen told me that Greg was refusing to do the work.
A good HVAC guy and plumber does have value but is hardly the celeb that Greg Stark apparently believes himself to be, On top of that, the quality of his work on detailed projects does not seem to justify his high prices.
Rich R.Over the years I have used several plumbers for work on my home. I was never very satisfied. Last year I called Stark & Cronk to take care of a minor plumbing issue. What a difference compared to previous companies I had used. They were very professional, competent and courteous from the telephone call to the time they finished.
Later in the year last year, I hired them to convert my heating system from oil to gas heat. They installed a high-efficiency gas boiler. I could not be more please with their professionalism.
Now, if you are looking for the lowest price, it probably isn't going to be Stark & Cronk. They actually were the highest of four quotes I obtained for the heating system conversion; however, it was clear to me that were absolutely the most competent. Also, on the smaller jobs, they are in and out, so you're not paying for wasted time.
