Juan and Fred are solid guys who know what they're doing, and do it well. I
had a catastrophic sewer lateral failure, which my plumber of 20 years was
unable to clear. Picture a bubbling pond of sewage. He referred me to Star,
and they came out right away. It turned out to be a tricky problem as the line
ran in an unexpected direction for a good 100', rather than the more
reasonable 40' run one would guess from above ground, and being an
apartment building, there were multiple connecting lines feeding the lateral.
It took them all the equipment and manpower to finally get the line running,
and after closer inspection, it was clear that the line as is was not
salvageable. Pipe bursting was not an option as a long forgotten repair had
been made with a length of duct iron. Fred and Juan navigated the city
permits, including some one-of-a-kind requirements, plotted a new, shorter
lateral line, and completed the essential work in 2 days. They were always
clear, on time, transparent, and the work their teams did was solid. I would
unreservedly recommend them for any major project.
As another plus, after an unexpected rain, it turned out that they missed one of the downspout to sewer connections, resulting in a lot of soil getting washed away. I called Juan at noon, and they were out by day's end, reconnected the downspout, and backfilled the hole. Impressively responsive.

We had a good experience with them in the past so we called them again when we had a clogged sewer line. The tech who showed up was extremely rude, he doesn't talk he yells (in your face with his mask hanging below his chin) and speaks as if everyone is in the sewer cleaning business and should readily be able to comprehend what he is yelling about. He did a camera inspection and didn't bother to record it (it would cost me extra to have it recorded), when asked his response is ""do you know how much a camera cost""? I called their office to share my experience about the tech's demeanor and the person who called me back was the same rude tech, who claimed to be the owner. He explained to me told me why I should be thankful for his service! I hope this review expresses my gratitude

Avoid, Oakland rooter folks are much more professional and do a great job.

Great experience with having the sewer lateral done. Juan's initial estimate was very reasonable compared with one other bid we had. His estimate was accurate; no funny business. His explanations were very clear and he fielded my many questions with patience.
Julio led the team that did the job. Also very good customer service, very good communication. A couple of days after the job, we had that torrential rain storm and the dirt around the access point at the property edge sunk a foot down. Julio quickly had two guys out to fill in the depression and reposition the concrete cap.
I was worried about the pipe having possibly sunk a bit as well. Julio graciously came out and did another video scope of the pipe to assuage my fears. Turns out it was fine--I think he knew it was fine but, as I say, he scoped the pipe again at my request, no charge of course.

Great job. Had them do a trenchless replacement of my main sewer line. They said it would take two days, but it was almost totally completed in ONE day. Joe and his crew were masked and polite at all times. Plus, they had arranged the two permit and certificate inspections on the same day as the beginning and ending of the project. Very efficient and recommend them highly. Plus their pricing was very competitive.

I recently had a leaky faucet at our apartment and was unable to get anyone to fix it until I called Star Rooter. They were able to send someone on the same day who arrived on time and took care of the problem. It wasn't cheap, but worth preventing any potential leak or flood damage that this could have caused. I would definitely call them again if a need arises.

Very professional and thorough. Guillermo and his assistant got right down to business and replaced our failed hot water heater within hours. Cleaned the area and left things better than they found them. Made several positive suggestions and stayed to ensure all was well. Left a call back cell number in case something came up after they left.

Felix and Fernando came over to my place to fix my house sewer lateral. I had recently bought the place and the EastBayMud sewer lateral service test had failed.
These guys are knowledgeable, fast and professional. They came in, did the test, very quickly found out that there should be a problem with my cleanout. They were able to get it fixed, ran the test and voila, it passed.
A week after that day EBMUD staff came in and issued the certificate.
Felix was kind enough to use a colored powder in the conc. they poured on my driveway to match it well with the existing concrete.
Long story short, these guys will be my go to folks for plumbing issues. each out to them, you won't be disappointed.

Fuck these guys. Just a call for a sink clog with auger, shows up $125, about to get started, $145, final paperwork he puts in front of me $185. When I try to say wtf you've changed price 3 times ""oh I had to go in your crawlspace that's why it's more expensive""
Fuck that noise, I'll pay you to go away fine but gladly never use again.
