Owner Michael Wallace has been a residential and commercial service technician since 1975 and secured his HVAC license in 1987. He has educated college-level HVAC courses at ITT Technical Institute and Ivy Tech State College for 20 years. He is aided by technicians he has trained himself, including two of his sons.
Sarah is the head of operations at Star Heating & Cooling. She is in charge of the routine activities of the company. She has been in this industry for 10 years and has a great passion for this trade.

Alicia P.My furnace is 29 years old, and it went out of commission in March 2022. I solicited quotes from Star Heating & Cooling either to repair or to replace. To repair, Jeff F. quoted me double what a competitor did. So, I requested to know the options for replacing, and he summoned sales consultant Bryan Conway to my home. Being that I'm working remotely, I still had to be doing my usual workday duties and informed him of that as well as my meeting at 2:15 p.m. However, Bryan was doing the usual sales speech thing by building rapport that he became too talkative. Being polite and asking pertinent questions would have sufficed. I asked him about the price of installing an off-brand, cheaper line of Carrier, which he acknowledged they had, but downplayed it by saying, ""You'll only save, like, $500. And I don't know if we have that in stock."" Then he wanted to sit down and chat in detail about the pricey quotes, and by this time my meeting was to take place in four minutes. The sales consultant said he would be done in two. The meeting had started, and Bryan was still talking!
When I followed up with Bryan on March 8, he did not respond. So, I emailed the general mailbox, Savannah Jones asked my budget, I replied, and then she did not follow up with a response.

I had been experiencing some breathing issues and congestion.
My furnace/air conditioning needed real expert inspection. Some major issues were found that needed to be changed to help the workings of the system.
Donovan Wallace came and found some problems that could improve the quality of air in my home. He also explained and answered my questions in a helpful and genuine manner. Much appreciated. Thank you to Gabe Wallace who also came to help with some of the work.
I feel fortunate to have found a reliable and trustworthy company such as Star Heating.
My son's furnace was not working so he called Star Heating and Cooling. The tech indicated that he wasnt sure what was wrong but thought that it might be a bad board. Charged $180. Price quoted for a new board was going to be around $700. I found the board at a local hvac supply house for $230. We installed new board (about a 5 minute job) but still had the same error code. Took my son and I just a few minutes to determine that one of the pressure switches was bad (should have checked switches before buying new board but made the mistake of assuming that the technician had checked out the pressure switches). Ordered a new pressure switch for $30, installed and all is working fine. The folks at Star are either incompetent or dishonest; I suspect the latter.
This company is bullshit. The tech tried to sell me an entirely new unit and charged $180 for the visit when all that was needed was a switch change. Star Heating and cooling fucked with the wrong person. I will bombard you with horrible reviews until I am fully refunded.
Be very cautious when using this company. There are so many options out there, use who will stand behind their services. They installed my unit after paying $4,000 crooked. When I called after several individuals who maintenanced it for me and raised concerns, I called carrier who confirmed the unit should have been installed differently. I called Star Hearing company and they asked me to send it to them Because they couldn't find it. (?). After explaining several times the series of events that had occurred, a very abrasive woman got on the phone and was extremely defensive. (Those who answered before her were very kind and helpful). When asked after she began raising her voice if I could speak with her manager she arrogantly said It am the OWNER'. . She then continued to nearly yell, I asked her to please lower her voice and she told me I could kiss her ass. (Not kidding!). Never have quite experienced this kind of interaction and definitely don't want to again. This interaction was far deeper with her than anything that happened on this call.... be very careful here folks. When you spend $4,000 and get this type of unprofessionalism it's concerning.
There are a few times in life you have good service.

My 4 1/2 year old system was not putting out cold air to begin the summer. I called Star because they are only a couple blocks away and I thought, who else you gonna trust but a neighbor. Well they came out and before they even tested the unit they told me the capacitor was bad. ($109). Then he told me how honest he was (red flag). Then he told me it needed a hard start kit ($150ish). Then they told me it was the compressor. Then the owners son showed up. He acted like he was doing me a favor for being there. He agreed that the compressor was bad, then it wasn't, then it was. So, I asked them to return the unit to the way they found it, replace my ""bad capacitor"" and all. I paid them for the service call and cleaning. Then they sent me a quote to replace the capacitor. Labor only as it was under warranty. $1489. Well I had another guy come out and he was like, there's a block in the coolant lines and how did they not discovered that? $275 and 1 1/2 hours later it was fixed.
tim i.I was under major distress with just a few days before Christmas and all through the house. Not a heater was working, not even a .. well if this sounds like a happy ending to a Christmas story..it is? Star heating to the rescue. I was in trouble..a small Christmas party that night and my outside unit froze up. Well Mr .Wallace an his son to the rescue. Even their daughter helped me. It was a family spirit that saved my family Christmas. Do your self a favor and call Star if you ever have an issue. You'll thank me!
I have had the need to use Star several times over the past few years. I keep coming back to them because they are responsive, prompt, friendly and most importantly honest. I really appreciated how friendly and personable everyone is that I have dealt with at Star. I had the most contact with Rachel and she is a pleasure to communicate with and very responsive to phone calls and/or emails. I would recommend Star to anyone who needs repairs, troubleshooting a problem and a new system. I have done it all with them and they don't disappoint!
