For more than 26 years, Don and Tim Alton have successfully managed the business together.
Katie, my wife, handles the office tasks, including payroll and billing.

Our communication remains open after hours, reflecting the same availability we offer during the day.
This approach demonstrates our commitment to being helpful to our customers.
We have established ourselves as a reliable plumbing service provider in the Portland Metro area.
Don and Tim hold licenses and bonds from the State of Oregon, guaranteeing that the job is done right the first time.

Alissa B.Great service, fast and friendly! We had a clogged bathroom sink. My call was returned within the hour, and service was scheduled for the next day. They resolved the issue, answered several other questions, and left the bathroom cleaner than when they arrived. Will call them in the future, no question.
Standard Plumbing goes above and beyond what the job looks like, to actually get it done right. I recently hired them to do what I thought was a simple repair/replace problem, but the original part had been installed wrong, and then corroded, so the job was much more complicated than it appeared. Standard Plumbing was prompt and very fair with the cost of the project. I have also used them in the past for other plumbing needs, and have always had courteous, prompt service.
Pierre B.I'm an out of state landlord and I called Standard Plumbing to replace a kitchen sink in my rental unit. Don was awesome. Collected the information I could provide and contacted the tenants for the additional information he needed to provide an estimate. From there, he took care of everything and sent pictures when the work was completed. Great quality, quick service and very reasonably priced. When I need plumbing service, I will gladly call him again. Highly recommended.
I have had the good fortune to have Don and Tim work on a number of my plumbing projects and have always been amazed at their honesty, integrity, patience, and helpfulness. They are not only well versed in their trade, but they offer much advice and offer options for you to consider so that you can make a well informed decision as to the final outcome of your project. As a homeowner and former contractor, I can say with great confidence that you will have nothing but an exceptional experience with this company - they are the best and I am thankful to know that whenever I call them the job will be done right, at a very reasonable price.
Alexi S.I am new to the Portland area and recently purchased a home. I had a plumbing project that I wanted to get done very quickly upon moving in. Don came out on the same day that I called him and gave me a very fair estimate and was incredibly easy to work with. They showed up a day later and got everything done faster than expected and right on budget. These guys are fantastic, Ive already recommended them to a friend and will happily continue to do so. Don definitely made me feel welcomed to the area.
Be careful with these guys. Very shady practices. I bought a hotwater heater from these guys. It was defected, and they never helped with the return. I had to send the heater back myself to the manufacture. When the refund came back, it had to go through standard. I called to ask how much we would be getting back, and they yelled at me and hung up on me. They would never disclose how much the manufacture sent back, leaving me to feel like they tried to skim my refund. Very rude folks. I'll never give them another dollar.
Karin E.Fast and thorough service. Patient with explaining plumbing questions, or with explaining why the fix you expected isn't the best solution.
Our building's property manager always used these guys, so for almost 10 years we had great service from them. Now, as a new homeowner, I would definitely call them first.
Don and Tim have been my plumbers for almost 10 years. I like to think of Don as a surrogate plumbing dad who has my best interests at heart. He won't LET me have a bad faucet. He will get me a good toilet that will work for 30 years. These guys are old school--capable, reliable, responsible, accountable, affordable, and they do excellent work!
I have absolutely no reservations about giving them the highest recommendation.
June 2010 update:
Let me set the scene. It's been raining biblically. The cab to the airport is picking me up in 2 hours. I go down to the basement to get some clean socks from the dryer and discover the drain in the floor has backed up. It does not smell good. I'm getting on a plane in 3 hours. I have a new house/dogsitter whom I'm trying to impress so that she'll work more for me. Leaving her with a stinking basement swamp seems like a questionable way to win her over. Lucky for me, Don answers on the second ring. He walks me through testing the drain to see where the problem comes from, ""if it bubbles we can fix it"". Comforting words. To my great relief, it bubbles. Within an hour, Tim is in my basement snaking the thing. The swamp subsides. The house is saved, my vacation is saved, and new housesitter is housesitting for me again. Thank you Don and Tim. If only you could also be tax accountants, therapists, landscapers, investment advisors, and carpenters. Is it weird to say I love you? Because I do.
This is the best plumbing service. They are knowledgeable, helpful, professional, and efficient. My octogenarian father and I really appreciate their communication skills, too.
I spoke to Don and he was very helpful, in fact he saved me a bunch of money by explaining how my plumbing valves worked and suggesting a quick adjustment rather than an entire repair. I truly appreciate it when a professional is able to teach me something rather than just charge me more money. Definitely trustworthy and knowledgeable.
