In 1923, Harry Berger founded Standard Plumbing, installing the first coal-fed, gravity-fired furnace in Manhattan, KS. With our name recognized, we secured our first major project, installing plumbing in the new Wareham hotel. Indeed, that very Wareham hotel!
During the tough times of the Depression and Dust Bowl, Mr. Berger went to Alaska to search for gold, leaving his wife to oversee operations. Upon returning from Alaska, Paul Anderson joined the company in 1941 as an apprentice plumber and worked there for 16 years before acquiring it in 1957.
Later, Paul’s sons, Rick and Dale, joined the family business. In 1958, we were proud to install the town's first central air conditioning unit. In January 1988, Rick purchased Dale Anderson's portion of the company.
The company was sold to four employees in 2004. Three of those employees continue to serve on the Board of Directors and supervise the company’s operations. Since 1923, Standard Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning has been proudly operating in the Manhattan, KS area. The key to our success is straightforward: customer satisfaction.
Standard Plumbing has remained at the cutting edge of home comfort technology. We are equipped to handle almost all plumbing, heating, and air conditioning needs, from repairs to installations, maintenance, and cleaning.

Top notch plumber Tim really knows his stuff. Will do repairs as well as complete rough-ins of plumbing, heating & ac

About a month ago I set up to get an estimate to install a drain pipe for a washer in my basement. They guy came out and said there was nothing they could do for the way it's set up. Drains to high. Today I get a bill for $65. I was never informed of any charges, nor did I agree to any charges for the estimate. In addition your site, and where I filled out the form to get an estimate says ""FREE ESTIMATE"". My mother always used standard plumbing and since she knew what she was doing in most things, I figured I'd be keeping up that tradition. Despite not being anything you could do for a basement laundry drain, I have a lot of other work that will need to be done in this old house. Ducts need cleaned, Outdoor faucet needs installed. The heating and A/C are old and are going to need some serious maintenance or replacement in the next couple of years. I will not be using standard plumbing after all.

We were extremely disappointed with their service. They charged us to ""fix"" our AC. We were told that it had a coolant ""leak"". The guy was here 10 min, added coolant and then left. We were charged over $200 to ""repair"" the problem. When we had no AC less than 48 hours later and called Standard we were told by Renee that they were ""too busy"" to actually fix the leak on the initial service day. She advised us that we could pay another $200+ to add more coolant. Or we ""could go down the street to the local thrift shop and buy a window air conditioner."" I have NEVER had someone that has treated customers so rudely or unprofessionally.

David did work on our toilet and shower. Very fast and professional. Helped work with my family to ensure we had the best deal to include a coupon. Even offered a tip but professionally refused.

Being new to the community, it was difficult to decide who to take a chance on for servicing our furnace and checking our humidifier. But I hit the jackpot with Standard and Antony. They were terrific, only had to wait one day for the service appointment which was great! They called to let me know the technician was on his way about 30 minutes beforehand and when Antony arrived he donned booties over his shoes and was completely professional in his demeanor. Thankfully nothing was wrong, just some minor adjustments and a little learning curve for us. We will definitely be doing business with Standard and probably asking for Antony!
