Elderly neighbor lost her husband, and within a week or two she had a leak in her crawlspace. My husband, a retired union plumber, went over, checked it out and determined the leak was from the well pump piping. Since the crawlspace is shallow, he decided not to fix it himself, but called several plumbers for estimates. This one said they would reduce the price due to her circumstances. To save time, he told the dispatcher the service tech would need 1"" or 1 1/4"" well pipe with hose barbs. Well, the tech showed up without the correct parts and when he returned the next day, he charged her for the wasted trip that would not have been wasted if he had come with the correct parts. Husband called and spoke to owner and was basically told, ""Too bad, so sad."" These are not full service plumbers that are ready to tackle your plumbing problem even if you tell them exactly what it is before they get there, and will make extra trips and charge you for them.
P.S. When I neighbor tried to pay my husband, he refused and when she insisted, he told her to give it to her church. That's neighborly service.
