Hi there, I’m Steve Schneider. With over 30 years in the excavation industry, I have dedicated the last decade to septic design and waste-water management. First, the Gravity System: This system is the least expensive option available. However, it requires 4 to 6 feet of suitable soil.

2nd Pressure Drain Field: This system utilizes a pump to evenly distribute effluent across the drain field. This system necessitates 3 feet or more of usable soil.

3rd Drip System: This system employs a pump and a drip line like those used in garden irrigation. This system demands a minimum of 30 inches of usable soil.

4th Pre-treated Drip System: This system necessitates a unit that pre-treats the effluent before it is introduced to the soil. It needs 24 inches of usable soil or more.

The last option is the Pre-treated Drip Mound System: It utilizes the pre-treated drip system along with imported soil shaped into a mound. It can function with as little as 12 inches of soil.
