Called Jae to come out for an estimate. A friend recommended him to us but did not provide the company name or Jae's last name.
Jae did not have a business card to give us. Had to ask him to forward his info so that we can research his track record.

We had a water heater issue. Was told he would be out at 4 p.m. but showed up at 2:45 p.m. Good thing someone was home.
He was jai see lai see as if he was in such a hurry to get out or go to the bathroom. He did not examine what the issue really was. Just saw that we were draining water from the tank. We thought we needed a new water heater but the real issue was that there was a leak in the hose above the unit (discovered by J.Var.)
Jae's estimates were outrageous. He quoted charges for hauling away, for pick up and waiting in line to the tune of of almost $80 just for pick up/disposal of a water heater totaling up to $2K (new unit to be included). We can just call the city garbage service to haul away such items.

No need to pay someone to dispose of it when the cost is included in our utility services as homeowners.

His quote for a new water was overpriced for half of the warranty that we have on our current unit.

Glad to have read previous yelp reviews beforehand to be aware of what to look for.

I had a clogged pipe under the kitchen sink 6 weeks ago first time in 30 years. I don't put scraps in the garbage disposal, I make my own compost. They came and started running the snake right away without even looking into the problem.
After that they were ready to leave without checking out. It didn't work. Another snake. Sort of cleared out. $195. I told them that it must be something to do with the plumbing under the sink. They didn't care. They are not coming back now becasue it is past 30 days of the warranty.
Stay away from this company.

Where to start with this disaster of a company. Jae was nice on the phone when he lied about the time they would arrive. However, after not doing the work properly, he actually called me a liar when I called back for him to fix.

My shower head wasn't an issue. Had no leaks. Worked great. My shower knob was broken and needed fixing, not the shower head.

First issue: They opened up two drywall holes, but forgot to turn off the water, so now water was spraying all over my closet. To boot, they only called an hour before their supposed arrival time to ask me to clear out half my closet. Still drenched my stuff. Basic plumbing 101 - turn off the water.

Second issue: They replaced the pipes, but did not put the shower head back on properly. There is more water coming out of places it's not supposed to, versus where the water should be coming out.

Third issue: When I called Jae to see if they can come back to finish their work properly, he called me a liar! Said I'm lying about the shower head working and that it must not have been working before. Uhhh...really?? I don't think so Jae. Calling your customers liars??

Covid issue: Although his technicians were nice, they would not wear their mask properly. I had to ask multiple times for him to cover his nose. They also unplugged a virus cleaning fan I had running to clean the air where they were working.

They had come in the past and totally destroyed the carpet by removing an older faucet and pipes and putting them on the carpet. Completely stained the entire carpet with black pipe grime. So reading the other reviews, I felt it important to confirm this is exactly how they work. I did ask they bring drop clothes this time!

This place just doesn't care. Fast as possible, so they are on to the next job. This is shotty, not speedy.

They came and replaced a leaking pipe, however they made a big mess and i guess they don't have rags, towels or something to cover the area they are working on like a professional worker and now the entrance of my apartment looks horrible!

If you are fixing something in someone's house, and you call them to see when it is a good time to come, and they specifically say that they will be home AFTER 8:15, do NOT show up 30 minutes early (waking up my son who worked until 11:30 last night). Do NOT wear so much cologne that it can be smelled in another room (that has a separating wall). If you have to remove items in that area, put them back where they were...and clean up after yourselves!!!

Jae and his crew came in and installed a gas line to my fireplace to convert the it to gas. He was the most reasonable quote and was ready to do the work within days of providing a quote.

I will work with Speed Drain Plumbing again.

My landlord has chosen this company for our plumbing service. They moved the appt from 3p to 'between 4 and 5.' This was only after I called them at 3:30 when they hadn't shown up at 3. It is now after 5 and no one has shown up and they are not answering their phone. Meanwhile this is the second day I am without the use of my shower. I do not recommend this co. Wondering if they will show up tonight or completely stand me up? Ridiculous. Update: I called them for a status and they moved the appt to tomorrow at noon. So now two days of waiting around for them to show up.

Lucile (a nice gentleman) just left my home. I called him at 10:15am and he had me text my address and said he would be here at noon. Exactly at noon, he arrived and gave me an estimate to repair my 60 year old leaking and broken pipe in my bathroom. He had it repaired and all cleaned up in 40 minutes! I had an estimate from another very popular plumbing company for $600. MORE than Speed Drain charged me! Great customer service, fair prices, and a clean job, what more could you ask for in a plumber?

Apparently the newer owner, Jae Lee, is not providing the same excellent service that Dave K talks about in his review. Mr Lee was polite while scheduling the appt but his employee left owing me money because his thoughtless and irresponsible actions caused property damage while on the premises. I have agreed to pay the $125 for unclogging the garbage disposal (not a deal by any means) when my damaged property is replaced. His fee will be taken out of the cost of the property. I will be posting again as to the timeliness of remediation.

James of Speed Drain Plumbing has been taking care of our plumbing for several years. He is efficient, shows up on time, and always has done a great job of unplugging drains and toilets. He also repaired the connection to the water meter on a Sunday at no extra charge. When finished, he always cleans up well leaving no mess for us to clean up.

Highly recommend James and this company.
