Late last night I discovered my kitchen sink leaked quite a bit of water at the base of the faucet and also underneath the sink whenever I turned the faucet on. So I called Speakes plumbing first thing in the morning since they had the most positive reviews in my neighborhood. I really needed my sink fixed today because I was having a party the following day and needed to be able to use the kitchen sink. The man I spoke with was very pleasant and said he thought he could get someone there in the afternoon but couldn't guarantee it. So I called a few other places and they were booked til next week. Called Speakes back and the guy said he would do his best to get someone out today for me.

Then about 2 hours later he called and said he found someone who could come my way right then. I was like Great! And thinking what a good company...they may be making a customer for life here.

When the plumber shows up I walk him into the kitchen explaining the leak as I go. He pulls out the sprayer hose and turns the faucet on and water starts dripping out of the sprayer into the sink. Then he takes a wrench from his pocket and turns the nut or gasket or whatever it's called a half turn to tighten it. Bam! Problem solved no more leak. Took him all of a minute. He didn't have to take anything apart or even get under the sink. On the one hand I'm kind of embarrassed it was such an easy fix but I'm a single woman and know nothing about plumbing. On the other hand I'm thankful it wasn't something really bad.

Then he's like we charge an hour minimum so is there anything else you want me to look at? Immediately I'm thinking great I'm going to be price gouged...but all my toilets, showers etc work fine and I replaced my water heater and this past summer. I say no not really. So he goes out to his truck to write up the invoice.

Comes back and it is $130!! $35 for the service call (that's fair) and $95 for labor. That's $95 for less than 1 minute of your time (in my home) and labor that consisted of turning a wrench 90 degrees?!!

I'm not saying they shouldn't be paid anything but if you were ever going to cut the charge for your labor this was it. Good grief. IMO $50-60 would have been reasonable. $35 for the call and $15-25 for the "labor".

As a single woman my biggest concern is I will get taken advantage of in pricing when i have to call a repairman and it's experiences like today that make me feel that way. It's a shame too because I honestly probably would have been a customer for life and now I don't even feel like I can recommend them to someone else.

Unbelievable! $95.00 Labor charge to tell us what we already knew. We called them to have a valve replaced. Seriously, THE ONLY THING HE DIS WAS TURN A VALVE UNDER OUR SINK. Could not fix because he couldn't get the water turned off outside, had to call the city. Still charged us a service fee of $35 and a labor charge of $95!!!! For turning a valve, that we already knew was faulty!!!! Husband asked if there would be another charge for them to come back out, after city able to turn off water? Answer, "YES"!!!! How do they sleep at night?

Very pleases with the service, they are the most honest people around. I had them 10 years ago and then today. Over last 10 years, nothing changed with Speake's they were awesome then and they are awesome now. Good Job.

Thank you! The guys came out when they said they would, fixed a simple problem (slow-moving drain) quickly and efficiently (and even explained what was causing it and how best to remedy it for good). All for an affordable price. I finally found my plumber!

Just want to say how pleased I am with this company. Our upstairs sink clogged up and when I called, the gentleman who picked up the phone asked me if an AC condensation line fed to the sink. He knew exactly what my problem was just by me telling him my sink was clogged up. He was extremely courteous and even though they didn't have slots open they managed to squeeze me in because our sink kept slowly filling up. My wife was home when they arrived and told me the plumbers on site were just as friendly. They went ahead and cleaned the AC condensation line too. The price was under $200. A lot of shady plumbing companies charge you more when it's short notice because they know you are desperate. Thank you for great service, you guys have definitely made yourselves a repeat customer!!

This is the third time I have used over a 10-year period and each time they have been prompt, professional and spot on. In the past, I have had Casey do indoor bathroom faucet work, today I had Travis work on an exterior faucet.

This faucet had frozen back in January and caused interior damage to the kitchen, resulting in over $15K in wall/flooring damage. (This is what happens when you forget or neglect to disconnect hoses in the winter!)

Turns out the faucet itself had sustained damage (that I just now realized when I went to use the hose for the first time since January.... I should have had them check it out at that time; duh?).

Travis told me what the likely solutions could be (minimum and worst-case). Turned out the simple solution of replacing the faucet didn't require ripping out bricks to get deep into the wall; yea!!!!

These guys have integrity and never make you wonder if you're being ripped off. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Speake's has been out twice to repair and install: toilets, valves, trim et al. They have expertly rectified shoddy work by previous "journeyman" plumbers. I trust them completely as they consistently execute with best practices.
On time, knowledgeable, polite, expert and above all professional. The top 1% of home service providers absolutely.

Travis and Lucas came out to check what I needed and Grant gave me a quote the next day. They guys came out and worked really hard trying to get a pipe up into the attic to add gas to our home. Grant looked into the needs of our home and really helped decide what size pipe was needed for the gas line. They made it look very professional on the outside of our home and got it all inspected even though the city didn't require it to be done. Rusty is awesome when you call for any questions I had, just a great group of individuals to work on your home. Would use them and trust them with any other plumbing needs in our home.

I called Speake's Plumbing because I saw so many positive reviews on here, yelp! And I am very glad I did!! I had a leak in my bathroom so when they came out from what I told them they needed to cut a whole in my wall in my closet to look at the pipes. When they did that they found out those pipes were good and that it must be a main drain that is stopped up! So they replaced my wall and dang you could hardly see where they cut it out! Then they proceeded to auger my blockage from the roof and got it done in about an hour! These men are good, very good! I will always use Speake's plumbing for all my plumbing needs!!

Great work, very reasonable price, and great timing. They removed all the old cast iron drain pipes from 2 bathrooms and the main sewer line that ran under the master bedroom. At least I had both bathrooms down to the studs and beams, so they had better space to work with than just the crawl space. All new PVC drains to 2 toilets, 2 sinks, shower and tub, and new vent stacks. We were moving the location of one sink, and they figured out a way to tie into the vent without compromising the size of the main vent. The whole team was great to work with. I'm a third generation customer of Speake's. I've tried other plumbers but will stick with Speake's.
