Souza & Viviani Plumbing
Company Overview
Proudly serving the community as a family-owned plumbing company for over a century. For over 94 years, Souza & Viviani Plumbing has provided top-notch plumbing services to the East Bay Area, currently managed by my brother John and myself, Jim Souza.
Our great-grandfather, William J. Souza Sr., founded Souza Plumbing Co. Inc. in 1915. By following three fundamental principles, he earned a solid reputation in the community:
1. To provide exceptional service
2. At reasonable and competitive rates
3. And, crucially, to make every effort to guarantee customer satisfaction.
In 1963, our father, William J. Souza Jr., succeeded our grandfather upon his retirement. He continued the legacy with the same fervor and dedication to the traditions established by his father. While my father and grandfather are no longer here, their guiding principles are very much present at Souza & Viviani Plumbing.

I used them for a simple laundry fix. I made an error by discussing over the phone rather than assessing the job in person with the estimator. I was ripped off; significantly over-priced for the work done; telephone discussion about quality of parts used not honored; and the job site left incomplete: plumbers putty not finished in sink, washing machine not put back; dryer moved, air extract detached and not replaced, and now the machine will not work at all (it did before they touched it).
Very disappointed at the business practice I experienced from this Coimpany.

I want to give a shout out to John From Souza plumbing. I had a very difficult plumbing leak in my front yard, needless to say the first two plumbers I called wanted to change me a service charge to come out and give me a cost estimate. I did some research on yelp and called Souza plumbing and spoke with John, I asked John if he changed for estimates, John reply was no and I quote in johns own words if a plumbing company wants to change you a service or show up fee imagine what their going to charge you if you hire them, WOW... I have some experience in the building trades and what he said made sense. We booked a time for him to come out give a ""free estimate"".... John even called 30 mins before our scheduled time to meet and asked if he could come early... ... wow...
John looked around my front yard and quickly determined I had a old rusty galvanized pipe that was leaking, now it all started to make sense as my EB Mud water bill had increased significantly on my latest bill... I asked John if their was any way to just repair the leaking section of pipe? John said that the old galvanized pipe was to far gone, but he would give it a try no guarantees it would hold.... cross my fingers right! We where running out of daylight so I figured John would have to come back another day to make the repair... Nope he pulled out some lighting and started to dig around the area where the water was coming up out of the ground and had the leak uncovered in no time... ... John showed me the condition of the 70 plus year old galvanized pipe... Well so much for a repair I thought to myself... once again nope... he pulled out clamp and put it around to old pipe, witch definitely helped but unfortunately the old pipe was at the end of its life... :(... I asked John how much was this going to cost, of course I was eager to know as you could imagine... John clean up the area where he did the digging, covered it with a pice of wood to make it safe or the night, John gave me a what thought was a fair price for the work. I signed it on the spot... John said he would put me on for the next day... Johns crew came out the next day as promised and installed 50' feet of new copper water pipe with a city inspection on the same day... Wow.... I was very impressed with the John and his workers. They left my property neat and clean to boot. Great service... Great work... Best of all Great price!!! I would give John with Souza plumbing Six star's if I could... highly recommend for plumbing work... give him a call...

I don't recommend their service if you have a complicated plumbing issue. They did not have enough experience or the right tools to get the job done, such as a camera or hydro jet or a long enough snake. The plumber just told me he was sorry and charged $300 and recommended using hydrojet instead, which he did not have because he did not want to spend the money to fix it! When we asked if he wanted to look inside using a camera, he wanted to charge us $200 more. We asked if he will give us a discount, he said he will call back but never did. Maybe he did not have a camera?
A friend referred me another plumber, who did not use a hydrojet and got things done.
Oh well, 2 stars for trying...

Had to take a moment and write this review. John was awesome. Showed me some tricks of the trade to keep the air gap in my dishwasher running cleanly and then completed cleaning out and recaulking our shower for less then 1/2 what others here in Pleasanton wanted to charge! Really great and honest guy. My go to for Plumbing without a doubt now!

Long overdue review......Awesome guy! John has come out twice already....and Murphy's Law: always happens at the end of the day :( But he manages to squeeze us in - even though he needs to get home to the family. As a customer, really appreciate that he puts us first. First time was to fix our leaky faucet (which was a pain to fix, but he got the job done!) and second was our water heater that went out. He had the part w/him (luck for us!). Good pricing too. Even though his business address is in San Leandro, he goes everywhere - and glad Tracy is one of them! Lucky we found him! :) Thanks for taking care of us John!

I called Souza & Viviani for a minor problem with the drain in my kitchen sink. Within 2 hours, Brian showed up at my house to correct the problem. It was late in the afternoon but Brian arrived with a big smile and can do attitude and my issue was fixed in an hour or less. I also had a leaky pipe under the bathroom sink. Brian took a look at it and fixed that as well. I had no idea who to call and just took a chance on Souza and Viviani. Best hunch I ever had! Thank you John for responding so quickly to my call and a BIG thank you to Brian! You guys ROCK!!!

I needed a new flapper in my upstairs toilet. I called Souza and Viviani, and John sent Brian the next day to fix it. It wasn't an emergency. Both of them were professional, courteous, and the job got done quickly. I recommend them highly.

We had a completely blocked bathroom sink and wasn't sure who to call (in the past we've called other companies and always felt like all they wanted was to make an extra buck). I found this company in the yellow pages and then yelped them. Brian was wonderful. He kept in touch throughout the day as promised and arrived on time. He was not a pushy salesman, he did not try and sell us anything, and did not scare us into any major repairs. He was in and out and the quote he gave us on the phone was the price we paid (we knew it might've been more depending on the severity of the blockage). We will definitely keep his number handy for any future plumbing needs and will definitely recommend this company to our friends! Thank you!!

I would not go back to these guys although they arrived when they said they would. Brian worked for about 35-40 minutes on a five year old toilet that had been running intermittently and also tightened a nut on a leaking faucet and presented me with a bill for over $200, which included about $30 for parts! When I showed him their ad in the yellow pages which states ""$89 for 1st hour service call"" he said that didn't include his travel time of 45 minutes to get to my house. I live in the Oakland hills and he said he came from San Leandro. After a little squawking he agreed to reduce his travel time to 15 minutes but still charged me around $180 which I paid reluctantly thinking at least the job was done. WRONG! The toilet, which hadn't leaked before he ""fixed"" it, now leaked leaving puddles on our hardwood floor. I left phone messages and spoke with John the next morning, who sent Brian again. This time he removed the tank on the toilet and replaced the 'donut' gasket as well as the ones around the bolts that hold the tank to the base. When he wanted to give me another bill I told him to have John call me, which he did almost immediately. I told him I felt I had overpaid yesterday from the price he had advertised and I didn't want to pay again for fixing a problem that hadn't been there before. He whined about how he was cheaper than most plumbers and how nobody wants to be a plumber and he had to charge for everybody's time, and the toilet was probably old, etc. etc. and went on and on without listening to my side so I finally cut him off and said I'd pay for the new parts but not for the labor. OK, $20 for the parts which I was to give to Brian. I went to give Brian the cash but saw his truck leaving, so I mailed a check. Next day John calls me to say he received my check, but had already charged the $20 to my credit card, so I agreed he should tear up my check. I also told him that the toilet and the faucet were BOTH STILL LEAKING!!. HIs response: ""Really?"" Sensing he wasn't going to do anything and didn't care, I told him I'd find somebody else. I've already spent over $200 and and several hours on these guys, who also advertise ""Assured Satisfaction"" in their yellow page ad, and my faucet still leaks and my toilet now leaks. I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions.

John is efficient and professional. I have hired other plumbers in the past and none holds a candle to him. My problems were solved quickly and completely. My highest recommendations!
