I recently had a leak from my shower drain onto the ceiling of my downstairs neighbor. It was a complicated situation with a number of potential insurance companies involved. One agency gave me a quote that seemed to be a bit of an insurance chasing quote - $1800 for the job. Luckily, Mario from Southern Arizona Plumbing was able to take a look at it, find the simplest way to fix it and do the job within four hours for $400. He was honest, thorough, respectful and ABSOLUTELY saved the day.

Just bought a condo and the inspection revealed some plumbing work was necessary: water heater, toilets, and a leak in one bathroom sink. I contacted three top-rated plumbing firms on Yelp to provide estimates. Only Southern Arizona Plumbing was willing to send someone out to actually look at the unit--everyone else would only do it virtually.
I didn't mind, because I had photos taken by the home inspection that showed all the work that needed to be done. But because Southern Arizona Plumbing actually sent someone out, they diagnosed the cause of the leak and knew exactly what needed to be replaced.
The cheapest bidder wouldn't give a firm quote--just an estimate based on what they thought the effort would be, with the real cost to be determined after the work was complete. Of the other two, Southern Arizona was about 20% less than the other. Since they had made the effort to scope the work, I had more confidence they knew what was required.
They showed up on the scheduled day, texting us when they were on the way over so we were ready when they came. When they shut off the main water valve, it got stuck (wouldn't reopen). All three vendors had expressed concern about this, because from the photos they could see it was a cheap valve and being 25 years old this was a risk. Because this was a condo, to replace the valve they would need to shut off the water to another unit as well. They were very professional and contacted the HOA and the other condo residents to explain an emergency repair was required. The project lead--who had done the original estimate--came over to supervise the work. Since this work was not part of the original project scope, I expected them to charge us more, but they didn't.
This extra task made it a long day for them, but they stayed until all the work was completed (10+ hours on site). That night we discovered that one of the new toilets wasn't working properly--it continued to leak water from the tank into the bowl after flushing--so we called the next day and they came back the following day and replaced the flushing mechanism with no hesitation.
The crew was masked the entire time, although one crew member would take his mask off whenever we weren't in the immediate vicinity. They were careful when bringing in the new toilets and water heater and in taking out the old one to avoid banging into walls. They cleaned up the job areas well. My only complaint--and it is a small one--was that sometimes they touched the walls with dirty hands leaving visible marks. We were able to clean these up, however.
Summary:
+ Came on site to perform estimate
+ Arrived exactly when they said they would
+ Picked up toilets I picked out from Home Depot, saving me a trip
+ Stayed late to finish the work so plumbing was usable
+ Did extra work to ensure new plumbing would be reliable
+ Responsive when we reported an issue
+ Reasonable price for the quality of work performed
+ Wore masks while working (mostly)
- left some dirt marks

This team is great. James was so helpful and knowledgeable. They completed even more work than expected and they did a terrific job!

We recently bought our first home. After two weeks the guest bathroom toilet clogged and wouldn't flush. We contacted out home warranty and they sent out one company who couldn't fix it and then sent out Southern Arizona. They couldn't fix it either so they came out the next week again with a camera. They told us that our house was plumbed incorrectly(house has been plumbed this way for 20 years) and needed to be re-plumbed. They submitted an invoice for a ridiculous amount of money that was denied of course by our home warranty. This was after going back and forth between them and our home warranty for two weeks over paperwork submission. We finally called a plumbing company on our own who promptly fixed our issue, which of course turned out to be a simple clog. This company is only out to make money off of people in difficult situations, They lied about the issue and made up an imaginary issue that in actuality was a simple fix. I would never recommend them. I am concerned for others who may fall victim to their up selling and unethical tactics. They are dishonest and take advantage of those in need.

Sadly my house's drain lines and some water pipes are failing from age and poor original construction techniques. Over the past few months we have had Southern Arizona Plumbing out doing repairs. They have stood behind their work and did not stop until everything was perfect. They have done the extra step of cleaning up well, and even built a new bottom for the kitchen sink cabinet because the old one was moldy from a leak. I do sort of miss having a heated bedroom floor because the hot water line was leaking under the slab but I do like that my water bill is normal again.

Update
Called in. Called back in a hour.
Apt set next week. Not urgent. I need to run a camera down my 40 feet of sewer line to see if I am still getting roots.
I have been doing a Monthly treatment of one Gallon of bleach. To inhibit tree roots .
And 60 days ago I did the expanding foam.
Due again in March @ 120 days.
But I have to know now if I am on the right track.
Otherwise I have to save $ , to have my line sleeved to seal it. $6 k. More or less
Warranty for 50 years. Beyond my lifetime.
We ll see.
I ll know next week for a C note. Worth it !
Update:
My treatment plan did not keep out the roots. Maybe inhibit. Two spots had 50 pct
Closure Rest 20 pct. ten spots altogether.
So I had to invest another 500. In the high pressure water cutter. It clears the line completely.
I have to get it lined, (ccip) or replaced , @ even more money.
Or do this clean out every 100 days.
Tree roots are permanent. We ll see.

We recently purchased a home in Tucson and SAP has been very good to use - easy to schedule, show up on time and emailed the bill - thats all I ask - easy to schedule, show up, do a good job and email me the bill - will continue to use them for our plumbing needs

This outfit is the best! We had an over holiday total sewer back-up. Don Baumgardt and his crew worked for 2 and a half days on what turned to to be a bear of a job. They were on-time, courteous, thorough, and explained what they were doing and various cost options at every step of the way. They did not charge for time spent retrieving a broken/stuck piece of their equipment! They cleaned up nicely and neatly. Yeah team...

I want to give a shout out to Jake at Southern Arizona Plumbing, and Justin, his assistant. They recently completed a re-pipe for a client of mine and they did the best job on it that I've ever seen. I've project managed several condo repipes and usually the plumbers make it look like the place was ransacked. That was not the case with Jake and Justin. The house was pristine and I was there when they did the video walk through with the city for the permit sign off. The inspector also complimented them on a job well done. I can't begin to recommend them highly enough. These men clearly take pride in their work and they are extremely skilled and hard working. If you need to have a repipe done, my suggestion is that you go with Southern Arizona Plumbing.

Too bad SAP you don't know what good customer service is, or you're WAY to busy to even care! My Choice Home Warranty service assigned you to a simple plumbing issue I was having with a bathroom sink. Got a call from you the day before amending the time window to 2pm - 4pm the next day. Waited until the last hour expired and did not receive a phone call or seeing anyone showing up. Called your office and was told someone would call back. Waited another 45 minutes and decided to call as your office was closing at 5pm. Got an answering service. They said someone would call, and I replied, "" why would I wait for someone to call AGAIN, when I didn't receive a courtesy call the first time ??"". I told the guy to cancel my appointment. Bad customer service for he reviews you are getting. DO NOT USE!
