Nothing but praise for Jay and his crew. I have used Jay a couple times at different properties (tankless water heater repair and water line leak in a front yard). Showed up promptly both times and fixed issues right away. Service is first rate and pricing is way better than commercial plumbers that service all over the place. He is very knowledgeable and doesn't try to up-sell you with problems that aren't there. 100% chance I would use again if needed...highly recommend!

I read all of the reviews, and the negative comments were so contrary to my experience with him that I wonder if they might have been placed by his competition. He promptly responded to my phone message; he squeezed me in past the end of his day; he arrived 5 minutes early; he worked in the rain; he explained how warranties work; he described what caused my problem; he fixed it, made what seemed to me a very fair, modest charge, was at all times courteous, patient and friendly.

I manage a few properties in the South Bay area - Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills Estates, etc. - and we use South Bay Plumbing for all our installation and repair needs. Jay is very knowledgeable and goes out of his way to make sure a job is done right. He's also very professional, always cleans up the area when he's done.

... and, because I noticed one reviewer accused this business of ""fake reviews,"" here are some of the recent jobs South Bay Plumbing has completed for us - water heater tank removal/replacement/installation, toilet repair/replacement/installation, gas fire pit removal/replacement/installation, and Jay also fixed a leak underneath a kitchen sink. He troubleshoots before any repairs so we know if something is a quick fix or if we need to replace an appliance completely.

I would highly recommend South Bay Plumbing and Heating for anyone who needs minor or major work done, when they finish their work I know it is done right. The owner and technicians are highly skilled and do a great job at very reasonable prices!

Owner, Jay, is very rude. He did not clean up after himself and blamed me, the customer, for the problem without thorough testing or proof even if he he may have done a shoddy job. He claimed that I destroyed a wax ring but did not even remove the toilet and look at it. I had a professional licensed contractor come out for a second opinion and he completely disagreed and said the ring was fine and not damaged. The other contractor also said that the problem I had may not have been my fault and Jay should have run a camera through the line in order to see what may have caused it such as roots from a tree. He is messy and claimed he is not ""Haz Mat"" but guess what Jay, you're a plumber! You have to deal with CRAP sometimes. He was very flaky. He was supposed to do the job the day before but never showed. I feel that I was over charged. In my opinion, he thinks he's the only plumber in town but guess what, he's not!

And yes, the good reviews are fake for sure! Don't believe me? Go ahead, call him up.

I have used South Bay Plumbing for more than eight years for big and small jobs and they have saved my bathroom and kitchen multiple times. They are always easy to reach, professional and fair with pricing. It's unfortunate that Yelp doesn't filter the obvious fake reviews. The owner is a great local businessman and the best plumber if you live in the South Bay.

If his shoddy work hadn't flooded my kitchen floor, I would say that he is almost comically bad. Not just a bad plumber, but epically rude with it. Draw your own conclusions about Jay's five star 'reviews'.

UPDATE : Jay doesn't apparently remember us as customers, so I'll provide a little more detail. He installed a waste disposal unit incorrectly, which caused a flood in our kitchen. He did rectify his mistake, but subsequently we suffered another flood caused by his poor plumbing of a filter. When we called him to try to get him to sort things out, he swore at us on the phone and hung up. The plumber that we had to pay to sort things out laughed at the poor quality of the original work.

Jay's response when we called : ""Hear that ? That's the sound of someone who doesn't give a f**k"" Then he hung up. Funny guy.

To make things worse, he was granted access to our home when we were absent by our main contractor when he carried out the original work. We trusted that he would be responsible etc. Instead, he walked out of our house and drove away but left the front door onto the street wide open. Thanks.

Couldn't be more unhappy. It is obvious this company had friends write fake reviews. This is by far the worst plumbing experience I have ever encountered. Late arrival, did the required work (which needed to be fixed again a month later), overcharged me for time on the job and spent half the time on his phone texting. Unprofessional, untrustworthy, and a horrible experience altogether. The better business bureau has been notified about your business practices.

South Bay Plumbing is second-to-none. I had a leak near my toilet and Jay was at my house in under an hour. He was working for over an hour but only charged me 1 hour labor and also gave me a discount. I'll definitely call these guys again.

I left a message with the posted number and I got a call back the same day. It was late afternoon and after I explained my water heater wasn't working Jay was able to come that night to take a look at it. It was an easy fix (pilot light was out) and he showed me how to re-light it. There was no charge either. I will definitely be calling Jay again if I have any more issues with it. Thanks Jay!
