William Smylie launched his esteemed career in 1957 with Smylie Bros. Inc., a firm dedicated to Heavy Industrial and Commercial Engineering. His brothers, Leon and Bernie, founded the company in 1955. Over the years, the Smylie name has emerged as a highly respected brand in Heating & Cooling in Northeast Ohio. Their motto was ""Service with a Smylie,"" a tradition that continues with Smylie One Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing Co., Inc. In just a few years, Smylie One has built a reputation based on integrity and trust.
We specialize in Residential Add On and Replacement, along with Light Commercial Heating, Air Conditioning, and Plumbing installations. Today, the esteemed reputation of Smylie One is maintained by Steven Smylie, Rick Coates, and Gary Rosen. They have collaborated as a successful team for over 30 years!
The origins of Smylie One date back to 1955, when Bill Smylie and his brothers established Smylie Bros., a local company with 120 pipe fitters. Currently, it is operated by Steven Smylie, Gary Rosen, and Rick Coates. Since 2003, they have been a Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer.

George S.Our hot water heater went down on a Saturday morning and even though Yelp said they weren't open at the time we gave Smylie's listed phone number a call. Pressed 9 to be connected to someone in hopes we could still get it fixed and it worked! Someone came to my house within the hour and fixed the issue. Great service! We are in the process of buying a house. The Air conditioner was noted to be faulty on general inspection. There was rust over the furnace, concerning about an ongoing or past leakage. Also the AC was running intermittently. The recommendation was to consult a qualified contractor. We made a big mistake by hiring Smylie One to inspect the HVAC system. Their technician who inspected the house said the control board was faulty (cost to replace - $671). Also, he mentioned that the H/E collector box was cracked (cost to replace- $1228). Thus overall cost to correct these problems would be $1900.
Based on their evaluation, we asked seller to pay for repairs.
The seller had the HVAC inspected by his own contractor, who said both the control board and H/E collector box were fine and did not need to be replaced.
Meanwhile, the seller still offered us $2000 to use for repairs if any needed which we accepted and signed the contract.
The next day though, a supervisor from Smylie One went to inspect the HVAC again, and he completely disagreed with his own techinician's evaluation. He now said that the AC coil and the drain pan are rusted and actively leaking and he would recommend the AC to be replaced based on the age and condition of the AC.
Based on the initial evaluation from their technician, we decided to take the $2000 for AC repairs. If we had known about the condition of the AC which came out in the second report (which completely contradicted with their own technician's initial report), we would have asked the seller to replace the AC.
Instead, now we have a complete contract and I need to bear the expenses to replace the AC before I move into the house, just because of the incompetence of Smylie One's technicians.
Knowing my distress and dissatisfaction from their work, Steve Smylie, the owner of the company called me, tried to make it sound like it wasn't their mistake and he tried to make a ""deal"" with me by providing me, what he made it sound like, a very good deal. He would install a basic Bryant AC for $4000, which he said was $2000 below their usual price.
Meanwhile, I contacted another HVAC agency who quoted me a straight price of $4000 for a new more expensive American Standard AC (without any sort of special deals)
All in all, I am extremely dissatisfied with Smylie One's service. I think their technician was extremely incompetent and failed to detect and report a simple leak from the AC coils (Even me, not an HVAC expert, could see the rust outside the HVAC unit and suspected a leak, but was then misled by the findings of their technician ""Mikhail Aronov"")
Secondly, they charge extravagant amounts for their services, evident by the fact that they would charge $2000 more than other contractors for installing an AC with lower retail price.
What a good company every time they have done anything thing weather it be heating, cooling or recently plumbing, it has been a pleasure. They are professional, knowledgeable and a no worry experience to deal with. Life is good!
Okay, They get a Zero rating!
WHY, You go on line to investigate, research reviews. So I thought I would give Smylie One my little plumbing project. I call on Feb 4 2019, schedule an appointment for Feb 12 ! Well its the 12th, NO call from Smylie One, NO plumber shows up! So Two hours after the set time I call Smylie One. You know what they say??? Can You guess??? OOOO we have NO appointment for you!! REALLY !! So I'm calling them Smy-LIE Zero!! They charge $90 service fee!! So I cleared my afternoon for nothing!! What about my Time??? So I'm send them a $90 no show Fee !! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL So Beware!!

Mel B.I've been a customer for 6 years now and recommend Smylie One to anyone who needs prompt, courteous and affordable plumbing and HVAC service. The technician who carries out the annual maintenance service our home is wonderful, it's always a pleasure to see him. Costs are always explained beforehand, their estimates are accurate and they turn up when they say they will every time.
Beware of the hidden charges. And then there's the poor service and upselling.
When you schedule your appointment, won't be told that Smylie One's fees don't include transportation time. And not a set transportation fee ($25, for other companies who charge for transportation) - the time it takes Smylie One from wherever they happen to have been poorly scheduled before you.
It gets worse. Your Smylie One transpiration time is not the actual time as the repair states, but time rounded up to the next hour. In my case, a 26 minute drive time became a one hour drive ""by rounding"" became an additional $100.
But it gets worse yet. The Smylie One service man (new to the job?), after calling back and forth between the head office, stated that my furnace could not be fixed and they could sell me a new one.
Yep. You guessed it. After being lied to about charges and drive times, I didn't believe Smylie One and called another company to check things out.
I was not surprised when the second company fixed the furnace in less than an hour for a total of $75 (no drive time charges - real or fabricated - from this other company and no new furnace con either).
Dana E.I wouldn't do business with any other HVAC company but Smylie One. The owner goes above and beyond to ensure his customers are satisfied. They are reliable, trustworthy and fair. This company is experienced and offers top notch customer service. We have worked with them for years and highly recommend!
I called them for a maintenance service on AC and furnace. They were very fast, punctual, efficient and thorough. Their technician was friendly and knowledgeable. I also requested a quote for new equipment. They showed up the next day as punctual as ever and the guy was very friendly and clear. They also have decent prices with available competitive financing.
I will definitely be calling them again for any future needs.
