Smoaks came to install an hvac and did not have the proper permits (nor did the owner who had them install it have proper condo association approval to move forward). We called the zoning commission when they arrived and the Charleston permit folks told Smoaks that needed a permit as installing a 7.5 platform in a flood zone for a new hvac and they only had a permit for the system replacement. Smoaks said they would get the permits and wait for approval-they did not. Now there is an illegal structure in my yard. Would not recommend if want things done legally. You can also see that the platform does not match the other platform nor have privacy fence which we have requested the condo owner to have Smoaks fix in the future. If you want things to look nice or legal-choose someone else.

We have been customers of Smoaks for a number of years and have purchased air conditioners and hot water heaters from them. We also have an air and heating agreement with them which is supposed to give us priority service in case of a problem. Last week our air went out. It took the technician 24 hours to get to our condo-certainly no priority service here. We were told that the part had to be ordered and that it could not be in Charleston until 5 days later. After the fact, we discovered that the part was in Charlotte. Unbelievable for a customer that has paid for a service contract that they could not find a way to expedite the part- my husband would have even driven to Charlotte to pick it up. Because of this poor customer service and lack of attention to detail, my husband had to stay in the heat with the temperature at 86 degrees! Smoak's really let us down so I would not recommend them to anyone. Buyer Beware!

Wow...We are enjoying our new Trane unit installed by Smoaks Comfort Control. We keep checking to see if it is working as it so quiet and efficient. The grinding of the 2 remaining condo units is quite a contrast. With hurricane season projected to be an active one.. we feel very confident that our new platform .. will withstand any storm . The installers were outstanding. They had to maneuver 31steps in an old home to the attic area.They went out of their way to make sure other condo owners HVAC units were not affected. Clean up was the best we have ever seen. As the owners of this condo unit .. we are 100% pleased.

Came right away to fix cast iron sewer pipe leak. Thought they might have to cut a hole in bathroom Sheetrock--would have made job more costly for me to repair in the end. They were able to do a workaround and total repair was kept to crawl space Price was reasonable. I recommend them. This was second time I've used them--pleased both times

Just payed $220 dollars to get a piece of drywall cut in my house and didn't find leak. Prices are deceptive listen to the negative reviews. Do your self a favor and go some where else.

Been using these folks for a decade for repairs & tune-ups, except when I had an HO warranty as they don't do HO warranty work. They only sell, maintain, & repair Trane A/C Heating units. They have a plumbing dept. as well. Prices are reasonable...maintainance agreements are available which gets you 15% off repairs and priority service. Staff &Technicians are professional, courteous, and dependable. Trane is number one according to Consumer Reports...take it from me ..my Trane unit continues to amaze people as it is 20 years old and I have only had 3 minor repairs.

We had an outside faucet that was leaking badly and after 4 attempts to contact a plumber, SMOAKS came to the rescue. Our technician, AL AHNER, arrived within 1/2 hour of my original phone call. He was courteous and friendly and efficient! Water is back on and our home is back to normal. It's not fun having the water off for any length of time! Highly recommend SMOAKS and they will be on my 1st to call list.

We just had a new water heater installed. Al did a great job explaining what the best options were & what was best for us. They came back the same day with everything they needed & everything was installed/replaced the way it should be. We are extremely pleased. We have used them about 20 years for our HVAC needs & are on their annual program. They are always prompt and their work is good. We think Smoak's is the best!

Always easy to deal with. Remember that HVAC repairs can be costly. They charge fair prices and never """"nickle and dime"""" you. Been using them for about four years for my home and my Mother's as well. My Fraternal Lodge does as well, never an issue. In fact, they installed two new systems at the Lodge in 2018. And their quote was by far the best for the Trane systems we wanted. No problems that was the result of failure due to materials or labor. Did have to repair when vent pipe cover damaged and debris fell in and caused internal unit damage. Fixed within four hours and did a courtesy check of the other unit and our gas stove. They always set up a time and then call when the technician is on the way. Tell you what is wrong when done and always ready to answer your questions before/at start/end of job. Never had a """"baloney type"""" answer. Commercial or residential . . . they know what to do. Highest recommendation.
