I had work on my service line done many years ago by Slade's Plumbing and was very put off by the foreman - I think it was the owner, but not sure - that completed the job. Long story short - they had an estimate of $5000 (15 years ago prices), but once the dig was done, he then demanded another $4500 to complete the job. When questioning him about the original estimate he told my then husband to ""put me in check"" and would only communicate with him. I came home from work to a terribly covered up hole, and the clean out pipe smack dab in the middle of my yard standing at least 5ft tall, but thought the job was at least done. Fast forward 15 years and multiple basement backups later, I had to have the whole job done correctly to the tune of $10000. Slade's just put a ""sleeve"" of PVC but left the original crock pipe from the house and from the main. Basically dressed my pig up in a prom dress. I do not recommend this company based in their business ethics, lack of honesty, and chauvinistic actions.
Scheduled an appointment last week and was told by Cheryl who answered the phone that they would be at my house Monday between 1-3. 4:00 rolls around and no one shows up. I call them and they claim they have no idea what I was talking about. Don't waste your time with this company who can't even get appointments scheduled correctly.
Barbara M.I called them to check out under my trailer in September, October. The fixed some things. Told me my water had active heat tape. My water froze and busted a pipe. I will never recommend them again and I will never use them again
I had what I thought was a simple request. Replace a laundry faucet , No Cutting, just Two fittings to solder. I thought this to be something learned in plumbing school and for sure less than a hour job. First he started heating the faucet and I asked if he should since there was rubber washers. He said he knew what he was doing and after Completely Destroying the faucet, he looked at me like what to do. He went to the store and got another one and after THREE trips to the Store for stuff, ( I have No Idea what they must have in the truck ) and by the way i am paying for him to drive a around. It FINIALLY was done. It ONLY TOOK FOUR Hours and by that time i just wanted Him Out of My House. I had Solder and Flux all over my basement floor. No Mats / No Work Surface just a Mess. The Bill had No Detail breakdown, as i said before by that point i just wanted him OUT.
From reception to installation Slades Plumbing delivers exceptional customer service! Cheryl, Jason & Paul were professional, courteous, and compassionate. I phoned other companies who felt like they were doing me a favor to utilize their services; on top of the fact that they were trying to bilk me for extra trumped up charges. The company in question was the company who installed the previous hot water heater but had delivered subpar service, which seemingly was the reason for the replacement heater after just 5 years! Slade's guys came in and repaired the damage. I thank God I kept shopping around to find them. I highly recommend Slade Plumbing!
Keep up the good work Slade! Your customer service is exceptional in a time when it is often greatly lacking among service providers globally.
Kelly M.We called this company a couple of weeks ago on. Saturday night because our hot water tank stopped working. We told them what the error reading was. We were told something like $85 for the first hour and $95 for each our after. There was a $150 fee just to come out. They guy showed up very quickly, lit it in a matter of minutes. Told us we would probably need a new hot water tank. Gave us a quote and told us well I still need to charge you. On top of the $85 and the $150, we got charged for a weekend and after hours visit.
20 minutes later it went out again. We called back to see if they could work with us on the price of a new one since we just paid so much for what turned out as something that didn't help at all.
The lady who answers the calls said she didn't have the authority to make that call (understandable). She said she would call us on Monday. If we didn't hear back by Monday, then to call her. This was Saturday, there was no way we could wait to Monday.
We ended up going with ASAP Plumping who I will give a few positive review to.
based on one experience, the pilot on my water heater would not stay lit,I know that 99% of the time it is a thermocouple (not sure on spelling)needing cleaned or replaced,it's hard for me to lay on the floor and do this,so I called the local company,Younger guy comes out and says it's lit,I can't do anything,I told Him it won't stay lit,He said nothing He could do,but if it goes out, call again and He will come out,and He will only charge Me half of the 95 dollars(service call) He just charged Me,if I was thinking at the time I would have blown out the pilot, and asked, can You fix it now?I did get down and cleaned the thermocouple and the pilot has stayed lit ever since, over two Weeks so far.
Aaron A.Note: I'm not unfair. A previous version of this review gave Slade's the opportunity to get over here and do what they said they would do, and I said I'd change the review. They did not follow through. It is now 12/16/15. For exactly one month (11/16 - 12/16), we've had a snake stuck in the main line of my house. Invoice says the snake has been ran 65 feet, and it's just under 50 feet from my house to the city sewer. Who knows, I may have a collapsed pipe. It's entirely possible. This does not change the fact that this company proceeded to give us the runaround and didn't follow through on their promises. I'm not even bothering with specifics anymore (if you want those, check my google review), but the bottom line is they ignore voicemails, don't return calls unless the customer has reached the point where they're clearly angry, offer a long and tawdry list of excuses as to why they can't answer the phone, can't come to your house as they promised, etc. etc. When you finally DO get them on the phone, the office manager Danielle will tell you that she'll call you on Friday, but she won't specify which one. I'm assuming she's planning on calling me on some distant Friday in the year 2058, because she sure as shit didn't call me back on the following Friday. My girlfriend paid them to clear the drain. IN FULL. 160 dollars, I believe. I can't stay mad at her for it anymore, but the bottom line is she shouldn't have paid them, because the drain isn't clear. There's a snake in it, duh. They promised her that they would try and be out within the week to the get it back, which was an empty promise. They took the money, and ran. Now we're getting gradually increasing backups, because their snake is collecting anything we flush. Predatory, unscrupulous, thieving company, bad news. If I could give negative 5 stars, I would. If all drain cleaning companies magically disappeared tomorrow and this was the last one left, I'd rather shit my own pants than call them again. In the immortal words of Yari, ""fuuuuuck these people.""
Slades Plumbing is the only place we call for plumbing related issues. The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable. The owner is very honest and trustworthy! Regarding our most recent service call this morning, the employees were on-time, performed the necessary repairs in a timely manner, and fully tested all aspects before leaving. We highly recommend this company and will continue to call them in the future!!
We have used Slade's Plumbing for 10 years and have always been very satisfied with their work. They complete the work as expected, and clean up the work area. We have not had to have them return to "" fix"" the original repair. They have been honest, answered all our questions and never pressured or given a hard sell for a job. We can confidently say that we will continue to use and recommend them.
