Had a wonderful experience with Skinner Plumbing. Our toilet was leaking into the neighbors ceiling. The office was great at communicating through emails and phone calls, they helped process the paperwork quickly in order to be able to come the next day for the repair, they were upfront about cost for time and materials. I was able to supply my own materials and they put the new toilet in the very next day. Two plumbers showed up, Oneil and Joshua. They were professional and efficient. Overall, a great experience!
I had the elbow underneath my kitchen sink fixed to the tune of $800. Within their ""1 yr."" warranty the sink leaks again. I have not touched under the sink nor has anyone but Skillman employees been under the sink.
I just received a bill for $243 from Skinner. The invoice implies that ""someone"" ""did"" something underneath the sink. If Skinner had believed me, I wouldn't have received a bill because the job was under warranty. Because I DID, I have been judged a liar because the employees misconstrued the wording in the invoice.
When I made the appointment to fix the leak, I told Skinner it was under warranty. The person says basically, ""We'll evaluate the situation when my guys arrive.""
Remember I and nobody ELSE (I live alone) touched any pipes or connections when the leak started to the time Skinner fixed it. It was within the warranty period. I've contacted Skinner disputing the $243 saying basically what I've said here. We'll see how it goes from here. If I have an update on the outcome I'll post it here.
Overcharged number of hours significantly (more than 50%); upgraded equipment at a much higher cost than original equipment without letting me know, and charged 2x-3x the retail price for that equipment; did not communicate clearly around expectations for the work billing, invoicing, etc.
Rude and unprofessional. Called and inquired about a plumbing job, says they don't do it and straight up hung up on the face.
Responsive, respectful and able. I waited two months for my former plumber to help. Skinner did a perfect job understanding the necessity of finishing and finished it in one day.
I just had some work done yesterday with Skinner. These 2 guys (Dean & Mr C) were GREAT !! Couldn't be more professional and knowledgeable.
I had called another service to snake the pipe under the kitchen sink since the water wouldn't go down the drain but he wound up cracking my pipe with water going into the basement. So I called Skinner Plumbing. I told Alex (who answered the phone) what had happened and he dispatched the above guys (as a 1st appointment for the day).
They proceeded to crawl under the sink and replaced the corroded pipe (wasn't easy). They tested the water but it still would not go down. We were told, there was another blockage.
So they traced the drain pipe down to the basement and precisely cut a 2 1/2 foot section out of the wall and there was the other corroded connection.
They removed a section of the pipe and brought a pressure washer type machine that pumped water into the opening until there was no more obstruction. They even added an industrial grease cutter to better flush out the debris. Then they replaced the other section of pipe and made a secure connection melting lead around the coupling.
Then tested the water again and everything was running like a charm.
These guys saved us and we are grateful They were friendly and knew their business. As a new customer, the bill was also reasonable. Management gave us a break (no pun intended). Thanks again Skinner !!!
This is my favorite plumbing company, and they do such a good job! The awesome man Jesse did such an amazing job and you should all receive their service.
Dory P.When they didn't arrive in the 4hr window, no one called to give me a heads up. I called them and told them that I would not be home 2.5hrs after that window. They said they'd relay that to the dispatcher and inform me if they'd be later than that. I got a call at literally the time I said I'd be out that they would be there any moment. The plumbers who came were polite and fixed our clog quickly, but then the cost was also a shock. 5x what I would have expected. The cost is one thing, but the utter lack of communication about scheduling is unacceptable. I'll not be calling them again if I can help it.
Julisa C.Tell your driver who was just at Queens Blvd & 58th St in Woodside that he is no more important than those of us who choose to obey traffic laws and wait in line to make turns from the turning lane.
Bad service came in 8 hours for a 3 hour job mostly lunch and chatting. Just stay away from this company totally waste of money. Besides, only changed three thermostat , checked 2 heaters ( left one unfixed) which worked fine before. Basically they did nothing during that 6 hours. So there are so many other choices just don't choose this company, oh if u had question on the bill there will be someone cut into the phone and be like hey bro I don't give a s*** if u have questions for the bill now u have to pay 6 hours.
