They went out of their way the night before the holiday to make sure my house would have hot water after knowing we had been without it for so long while trying to figure out home warranty stuff. We didn't have hot water early morning of 11/12/2024. After we tried several times to ignite the pilot without success, we contacted Choice Home Warranty. A technician arrived after 11:45pm that night He warned us that it would late. He recognized that the TPT was tripped. He reset it and was able to restart the pilot. Early the following morning our kitchen and laundry area was covered with water and water was pouring out of the tank and flowed into the garage through the drywall etc as well. We called the technician who told uis to shut off the system and reported it to our insurance company who sent out Service Master. They spent two days drying the water damaged areas. Today 11/18/2024 we still have no hot water. Choice told us that the technician had the tank(it was in the warehouse) on Friday the 15th. The technician had indicated that he would charge an additional 473 for ""modifications"" to CHW who then emailed us and said it was for pan, supply lines, new shut off valve, and T and P run tube. I texted the technician on Saturday and asked him if he had a time yet. He said no. I called CHW today, Monday 11/18/2024 and we were told that the technician had the tank since Friday. We asked CHW if we could use a local technician who would have been able to install the tank today! They said no, since the technician already had the tank. They called the technician and then told us that he would call us today to set up an appointment. No phone call yet and it is now 3:45 pm. It is Tuesday now and I contacted the installer. He replied and told us he was in Michigan and had appointments booked up until then when he took the assignment. Why would a booked up installer be contacted by CHW? Would anyone like to be without hot water for 8 days when a local person could it install it the same day or within 2-3 days from initial contact? It was finally installed today the 21st of November. During installation the threshold from the kitchen to the garage was damaged by the removal of the old tank. We pointed it out and the technician agreed and told us his contractor would fix it after Thanksgiving. I will enlose before and after pictures of the old tank and new tank with new fittings. Is this rally 473 dollars worth since Choice Home Warranty was paying for the tank and the labor to install. They told us the installer required that fee for modifications, but the amount was sent in before the technician even analyzed our fittings since he just reset a switch the night before to ignite the pilot light. It turns out it was a faulty valve in the control module. I asked him to save the part and asked him for an itemized bill for additional parts and labor supposedly not covered by
Choice Home Warranty. He said we only get that once the bill has been paid. Doesn't one usually get an invoice before handing over money? This seems quite unusual and we feel the amount charged was just plucked out of thin air at the moment he contacted CHW for a repair authorization. We refuse to pay without an invoice and a new threshold in place. I would also say, buyer, beware of ridiculous additional charges. We declined the additional fees with CHW at first and then were coerced into accepting it. We were at their mercy having no hot water already for 2 days. I think both parties involved (CHW and the technician) were not honest and ambiguous with their stories. Everyone was congenial and mannerly while giving us the run-around all the time prolonging our repair appointment. We feel the technician shouldn't have taken on the repair knowing that he was already booked until November 21st. We are very disappointed with the whole lengthy experience and would not recommend either party involved.

Warranty company advised me the schedule was 3pm till 8 pm. I left 2 voice mail 1 Saturday and one Monday, no response, that's not a good sign. It's 4:30 nothing yet. I left another voice mail, no response.

They were sent out for a plumbing issue from my home warranty company.

First, very very late.
Second, misdiagnosed problem, which led to problems with approval of claim.
Third, sub-par work once the claim was finally approved.

There are much, much better plumbers our there.

Shane did a great job with a clogged toilet that I had. He responded quickly to my request and also arrived quickly to fix the issue. He was clean and efficient while working . Additionally, he was very friendly and I felt that the price was reasonable. I appreciate that he gave me a flat rate for the job. I would definitely use SJ plumbing again and highly recommend them!
