For SimplyGreen your experience is highly dependent on which plumber you get from them.

For my first experience - I had an issue with a toilet and a sink.

This was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a plumbing company. In the office, the staff was pleasant, quick, responsive on the phone, and did a great follow up afterwards. I got Ken in the house. Not only did he fix things, but he explained what he was fixing, how it gets fixed, what I could do to minimize the chances of the same problems coming up later. Love it when someone teaches you stuff as well as fixes. Makes us all better off! I wouldn't hesitate to use them again or to recommend to anyone at all.

For my second experience - I had an issue with a water heater.

The water heater was still under warranty (only 3 years old) and the issue I was experiencing was a known problem. I contacted the manufacturer's technical support line and they sent me a replacement part overnight. I had the part in-hand when I contacted SimplyGreen. The plumber who came out wouldn't even consider replacing the part. Instead he uses severe scare tactics to try and convince me that it needed replacement. If that weren't bad enough, the estimate he gave me was twice as high as it should have been and more than twice as high as the cost of the replacement that gave me this water heater only 3 years before. Costs don't go up that much in the span of three years. (As was confirmed by a competitive estimate by the plumber that I finally hired to do the repair - not SimplyGreen.)

So, your mileage may vary with SimplyGreen and is highly dependent on who they send out to you. Trust yourself. Call the manufacturer if you've got an issue with a major appliance, like a water heater, and then proceed ahead.

I called Simply Green because our kitchen sink was backing up. I was afraid it was going to be a costly job because I know our pipes are old. Russ came out and was super friendly and honest. He spent extra time going over different options with me that would fit into my budget; and he did a great job! I know that I will definitely be using them again in the future!

I'm not even sure how to compliment this company enough. Earlier this year PGE shut off the gas to my parent's house saying that they had detected a gas leak. I was told to call a plumber. I had no idea they took care of these things! But it took calling at least 5 places, most of whom had no idea what to do and others who said they were not available for weeks, to find Simply Green Plumbing and I am so happy I did.

Jessica, at the office, immediately put me in contact with Gary and the process began right away. Not only did Gary walk me through all the steps it took to confirm the gas leak and detect which valve, they also discovered in the process that there was a major water leak going on underneath the house as well. Not good news at all, but made so much easier and fun actually because I was working with Gary and his crew. Gary was very easy to talk to and did not mind walking me through every step. I was never left wondering what was going to happen next and the cost was estimated for me up front.

Though the job took longer because of the water leak under the house (They had to dry it out), I was kept in the loop and everything was kept to schedule for the whole process. Not only did Simply Green Plumbing help me out with a huge job but they also communicated quickly and clearly with my insurance adjustor so that they received all the information they needed in a prompt manner to process my claim. Gary predicted that my parent's water and gas bill would fall dramatically and it did.

Other things these guys did:
-made sure that the house stayed clean when they had to walk through and get to the crawl space under the house
-actually drove back to my house when they saw the PGE inspector driving towards my home so that they could talk to him themselves
-dealt with my claims adjustor via email multiple times without my prompting to get my claim processed

This company is seriously above and beyond all expectations. I can't say enough.

Honest and dependable!

Very impressed with the entire operation of Simply Green! My garbage disposal stopped on a Sunday. I booked the appointment Monday and was given a two hour window for Tuesday. Tuesday morning they called and said they could come out earlier IF it was convenient for me. The office told me to expect John and indeed John showed up. He was great! Made sure he covered his shoes before he stepped into the house, took a look, fixed the problem, made sure everything was tightened up, and told me that although my disposal is older he didn't see any reason to replace it at this time. He also told me to give them a call if there were any problems. Wednesday morning and the office just called to follow up and make sure everything was taken care of and running smoothly. I will absolutely call them again.

Simply Green was one of two bids that I got to repair a leaky laundry/kitchen waste line underneath my 56 year old home. I crawled underneath my home on a Sunday and discovered puddles of water and active drips. This was urgent. Two plumbing companies showed up on the next afternoon day. Although SG was the higher of the two quotes, I chose them because:
1) Russell's polite, STRAIGHTFORWARD COMMUNICATION and ""on time"" first visit impression.
2) Ken's thorough crawl in the subfloor, taking photos, and diagnosing of the problem's source.
3) Gary's EXPERTISE and EXPERIENCE shows, and he convinced me of his commitment to ""DO THE JOB RIGHT"" and up to code.
4) I got the feeling that the company's mission included delivery QUALITY SERVICE while being ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS.

So we scheduled 4/17/14 for the job.

Russell called me at 8am this morning, 4/16/14, and informed me that they had a job cancel on them. He asked if I wanted the work done today instead of tomorrow. Fortunately I was able to take the day off, but I wasn't able to meet with them until 9:30am. Gary (who I specifically requested to lead the job), John and Wilbur were at my home ready at that time. However, there was an unexpected inspection appt for another job at 9:45am so two of them left to take care of this. These two both came back at 11am and this is when the job really began.

Normally I would deduct one star on a review for the aforementioned mishap, however this is what earned them back their 5 total stars:
1) Three to four plumbers on the job from start (11am) to finish (6 pm). They were focused, DID NOT ""CHIT CHAT"" with each other while working, and only took about 30 to 45 minutes for lunch.
2) So that I could gain a few inches in the crowded space for a newer washing machine later, Russell and Gary were able to fulfill my additional request to move the laundry's standing pipe inside the drywall. Russell taught me a DIY (do it yourself) fix to fill in gaps with foam spray at the laundry line's clean out in the garage.
3) Their ability to EXPLAIN THEIR ACTIONS whenever I had questions.
4) They tolerated and were FRIENDLY TOWARDS my two toddler CHILDREN who were running around house the whole day.

Overall, HARDWORKING professionals and an OUTSTANDING team! Highly recommended!

I was installing a new garbage disposal and it turned out my old garbage disposal was a mutant and no new garbage disposal would fit properly with the existing piping under the sink. Not wanting to redo the piping myself (moving it about 1 inch, which would likely entail redoing half the piping), I called a few plumbers in the area (on a Saturday morning).

Simply Green was the only plumber, of the 4 I called, that actually answer the phone. His guy was right around the corner finishing up another job, and after 2 follow-up calls to me, his guy was at my house within an hour of my initial call. So, remarkably great initial follow-up and service.

Wilver arrived, donned booties to make sure my floor didn't get dirtied, and assessed the situation. He said no problem and suggested, since he was there anyway, that he replace the strainer on the 2nd sink bowl (the sink is 2 bowls side by side, one side had the garbage disposal which I already installed, and the 2nd bowl was untouched). I said OK and he went to ready his quote.

He came back and gave me a quote of $420. Ouch... The moving/changing of the pipes came to $191 and replacing the strainer was $229. I first asked him how long this would all take, he said 1 hour. I asked him how much were there in parts? He said $20. I asked him what his hourly labor rate is, he said $150. Something isn't adding up! I decided to live with my old strainer and go forward with the $191 re-piping.

I know Simply Green is proud of their no surcharges for weekend or late night work, but with these prices there wouldn't be a need as there appears to be a ""Los Gatos"" surcharge already built in.

Price aside, this company is fantastic. Great communication, available when others aren't, the actual plumber that came was a professional, both in cleanliness (wore booties and put down a mat to work on) and capabilities. The quality of work was excellent and once started he was done in 30 minutes.

If price were not an object this review would have been 5 stars, and more if possible. But, price does matter, at least to me, and I was in a bit of sticker shock. But, then again, with 90% of the contractors I have over I get sticker shock. Its that ""Los Gatos"" tax, I think.

I have finally got around to writing this yelp review!! I used Simply Green Plumbing when it only had 4 reviews at 5 stars back in 2011!!

My first service call was on May 7, 2011. I went on Yelp and called every plumber listed in order of the Yelp hierarchy and Simply Green happened to be the last one listed for my area. I had an emergency clogged sink in my home that I just purchased and no plumber could come by the same day on a Saturday except Simply Green. Russell was extremely nice and immediately took the service to help me in my need. I recently moved from Austin and was accustomed to Austin prices : ), so I originally thought it was a bit on the high side but well worth it since it was an emergency. Now that I have lived in the Bay Area for over two years, it is a completely fair price, not to mention great service.

Due to Russell's help and great job on the sink clog, as soon as I had another plumbing issue, which was the same month on Mary 24th, 2011, I immediately called Russell for a garbage disposal replacement. I was lucky that he came prepared and already had a replacement part in his truck so that I could immediately get it fixed. He gave me great advice that day, don't ""Feed"" the garbage disposal, which I kept telling my husband and finally got a professional to agree with me! It has been a great arguing tool ever since ; )!

After fixing my clogged sink and garbage disposal back in 2011, and taking his non feeding advice, which my husband still violates : ), my sink and garbage disposal has been hassle free!

It has been nice to see that Russell's business has grown since those times and I am pleasantly surprised to see more trucks with Russell and his wife Lisa around town in Los Gatos. I came from a city (Austin) that is all about supporting local business owners and I was glad to see that same level of trust and quality in California!

My husband Ed and I have referred Russell to several family members since that time and I am not surprised by all the great reviews on yelp.

Simply Green plumbing is Simply the Best!!

This past Sunday we had company coming over to watch the 49ers playing the North Carolina Panthers...I started making brunch and suddenly everything began backing up. The sink in the kitchen, the sink in the laundry room and now the washing machine is flooding the garage!!! Even my husband, the son of a plumber, couldn't fix it. ""That's it, I'm calling a plumber!"" I remembered my friend telling me about Simply Green Plumbing...boy am I glad she did.

Sure enough Russell picked up right away...I explained the problem and he said ""let me call you right back"". In a matter of minutes he returned my call and said ""I need to go pick up a truck and I'll be there in an hour."" Sure enough, he showed up right when he said he would...came in assessed the situation and went to work clearing the clogged pipes. I can't thank him enough for the professional way he handled the situation...cleaned up after himself, I couldn't even tell he had been here. We even had a few laughs over the fact that the clogged drains were all my fault!

Thanks Russell you saved the day and the 49ers won too!

I am moving into a condo in Los Gatos and had to have some plumbing work done. Russell and his crew did an excellent job. They were very accommodating for schedule changes driven by the floor installation. They made suggestion for some extra work but never pushed. Their dispatcher followed up with me after the job was done to make sure I was satisfied. Could not have asked for better experience.
