Simmons heating installed our furnace last month. Nick, Tim and Jay were professional, polite and friendly. They removed our old furnace and installed our new one in one day. They showed up right on time and finished the job when they said they would. They cleaned up everything and made the whole process easy. The price was fair and reasonable. The furnace works great. We highly recommend Simmons heating.
EDIT FOR UPDATE: Received a reply from ""William"" (not actually William responding) here on Yelp, inviting me to call. I called & asked to speak to a representative about billing. The person told me that I could speak with her. She didn't tell me that she was the one who had responded to me.
I explained who I was, where my service yesterday was, and what had happened; I reviewed my experiences with the technician. She got angry & began interrupting me (""sir I am going to stop you there"") & explained that it was she who had responded to me here, and that she was ""holding my review"". Things got worse. Rude, hostile, discriminatory and dishonest throughout.

Dishonest billing. Had some basic oil boiler stuff that I couldn't do myself (arm in sling), after a new system had failure to fire through the night.
Issues resolved with a clean oil filter, air-intake calibration (labor, no parts), a nozzle replacement, and an oil strainer. (The filter has a retail value of $20-$30, but they charged $60. The strainer runs less than ten bucks, but they charged $40. The nozzle runs $6-$10/ea, and they charged $40. Numbers here are rounded up.)
Was advised that there was an $85 fee to show up, plus $100 per 30 minutes of labor. So, I was expecting 30-60 minutes of labor (tops) plus the $85, plus some parts. I was not expecting the mark-up on parts to be insane (and I was not given prices as these things came up during the service call).
The technician was ill-prepared (he stated that the van was ""new"" to him, and he wasn't responsible for stocking it). This meant multiple trips back and forth to the van to rummage around for additional things, because the technician did not come into the home with all of the necessary things, nor did he get them on the second or even third trip to the van, even though all of these are standard things for a boiler service of this sort. (He was ""running the clock"".)
From the time he arrived in the driveway to the time that I helped him get the last of his bags back into the van, 70 minutes had gone by. He tried to charge me for a full hour ($200) for that extra 10 minutes of overage. (There was definitely at least 10-15 minutes in the call going back and forth to the van for things he claimed weren't stocked by whomever is responsible for stocking the van.)
He also tried to bill me (at those obscene labor rates) for the time he was taking sitting in the driveway filling out paperwork and monkeying with his tablet, even though during this time he was literally talking out loud about how long the paperwork takes and how silly all of these steps ""the company"" makes him take are, etc. This was all spoken aloud while I was standing there--- and would be fine, if he wasn't ALSO trying to bill me for that time.
""Labor hours"" do not include the cost of doing business fees found in writing receipts. That isn't a labor cost. That's an administrative cost. He was trying to charge me $200/hr rates while he dicked around with paperwork and mumbled about his employer.
His work was fine. This was basic work that I've done myself (on systems more familiar to me) and I appreciated his knowledge of what to check and how to safely get the system back on line. The mark-up on parts is criminally dishonest, and the intentional deception around labor fees and running the clock is absolutely fraudulent.
My system is up & running, so there's that. That said... The issues were standard (everyone who has ever had a boiler has had to deal with these) and not complicated or intensive. The replacement parts were standard and absolutely NOT valued at the rates they're charging. Having had service calls like this in the past (because this is a fairly common sort of issue), a typical market rate for these services + parts for the time would be expected to be around $150 + parts, or an expected total bill of between $200 and $300. Given their fees & hourly rates, I was expecting to pay this company $300-$350, all-in, because I have bought all of these parts before (and have subsequently confirmed their current costs as well.) This yahoo tried to charge me something like $660--- no ETHICAL company or contractor would EVER try to pull this.
Total scam rip-off, bait-and-switch deceivers. I felt confident going in because the dispatcher (owner? administrator?) told me the fees in a simple and friendly way, hence my expectation of $350-ish on the upper end. Not twice that.
AVOID this company. Guy argued with me in the driveway that ""he had to be paid for his time"" doing receipts in a heated van while mumbling to himself about tablets and his company and wasting time--- as in he literally complained about wasting time, while simultaneously attempting to charge ME for that time. This was the classic scam of running up the clock by taking the longest route possible--- criminally bad-faith and deceptive business practices. Shame on everyone involved, exploiting Disabled + Veteran households during the winter.
I had my furnace replaced last Friday. It's tricky as it goes in condo closet on the deck.
The team Craig,Jay and Nick were professional and courteous . I was very pleased the experience. Kathy Stuart
We had our boiler replaced a few days ago. The installers, Craig and Cory, were outstanding. They were professional, knowledgable, and respectful. They obviously enjoy their work and are proud of it. They went above and beyond.
I have used this company twice and found Jason and Corey to be extremely friendly and professional. The owner should be proud of his company as well as his employees.
The service techs were nice and knowledgeable, most likely a job requirement but the were pushing a maintenance plan.
Good other than the sales pitch
Sarah Ashley D.Heard a strange ""draining"" noise coming from the kitchen sink after doing some dishes -- Turns out the garbage disposal was gushing water out of the bottom, flooding the cabinet... and leaking down into the basement, where it had made a nice pool on the floor. Simmons came out a day later and replaced the worn out unit in under an hour. Always friendly and professional! They're my go-to plumbers.
Anne F.Simmons recently did a complete overhaul of our heating system in a historical home in Amesbury that is older than 200 years. They converted from oil to gas. They installed a new boiler, hot water heater and a dehumidification system. They were prompt, efficient and did exactly what they quoted at the price they gave us. The job was completely done and finished in 5 days. The service technicians and appraiser were all pleasant and efficient. I would highly recommend Simmons!

Again I called for a Toilet to be fix the plumber said 200 to put in 200 for me to go to Loews and buy one I returned in 10 minutes waited 4 hours then they put the new toilet in charged me 700 but they gave me back the 85 dispatched fee so 825 for a job quoted for 400
I had an A/C issue when it was about 90 degrees. I called Simmons, who I had used in the past. The young woman I spoke with clearly understood our issue. She sent Dave and Brian out in about a half hour. The were both superb, polite and clearly knew what they were doing. They also did our annual boiler service at the same time. I can't give Dave, Brian and Simmons a high enough rating. Thank you! Thank you!
